  1. A bit cranky this morning 'Franky'.... His turning circle is ok for a big man, he's pretty good below his knees and he won't need to do a whole lot of ruck work. He is a work in progress and progressing quite well I would think. Not a million miles off but still some work to do.

  2. Baked beans, chilli con carne-style, with chopped habanero chillies, shaved Parmesan, avocado cubes and lime juice with thick wholemeal/grain bread, hand-sliced from the loaf! Hotter than hell. A couple of cans of Carlton never tasted so good.

  3. If he leaves after 3 MFC flags I'd thank him for his service and wish him all the best without a skeric of ill feeling

  4. Something I've noticed often from Spargo in particular whilst watching highlights over the summer. He has a very, very good footy-brain.

  5. Watched the Geelong game with a group of Expat Aussies (none of them Demons) and none had ever seen the Weid before. All agreed he would be a very good player. Looks a bit like a young Pavlich to me. Will kill it in the next few years. We've got to lock him away before the filth get into his ears. They'd love the story of bringing the Grandson of a Club Legend home from a few years captivity by the enemy.

  6. With the average lifespan of an AFL player measured at less than 5 years, Misso's longevity in a competitve industry has been amazing & not only has been a very loyal servant to the Dees but his influence has impacted significantly to our recent success......we have some big shoes to fill! Good luck to you & your family.

  7. Nothing like taking the roof of your mouth off with volcanic hot baked beans in a jaffle in the middle of winter. He might be onto a winner here.

  8. The weid can play there is no doubt and could of faulted in the finals instead he played like he belonged and that is what they play for to play finals and make history and to help win the ultimate for our great club. There have been some great players for other clubs that have struggled to play well in finals consistently and crumble under the pressure. .However Sam can take a mark in a pack ,can tackle, knows how to kick a goal and is growing in confidence.. The finals was a Godsend for him and alot of good came out of it and IMO he is ready to produce his best. The Kid is no one hit wonder. He is something!

  9. Anyone who gets stuck into Brendon Goddard a quarter into their first game goes alright by my standards. Actually finding it hard to fathom that he was 18 years old all throughout last season. Never had massive stats but played with the composure of a 200 gamer. Wasn't overawed on the finals stage either.

  10. Thought that Spargo was in no way a lock for the senior team, and even (looks at feet), tipped him to be replaced during the season by a rookie. Stupid call. Looking at replays over the off season, and this kid has it. Senior head on young shoulders.

  11. In his last 5 games in 2018, including 3 finals, Weideman took 13 contested marks at an average of 2.6 per game. Across the season as a whole that average would have placed him equal second with Jack Darling on 2.6 and just behind the best contested mark for 2018 Jeremy McGovern. What you envisage as a weakness is one of the biggest strengths in the competition.

  13. Well, nobody's perfect. (Except for certain posters not a million miles from here.) We are on our way to being respected, feared, and other good things along those lines. We may have a certain measure of that already. What a long way we have come. Misson is part of that journey and can take a healthy slice of credit for dragging us up from the cellar with his knowledge and expertise. It doesn't just happen. People have to put in. Hard to bag on that. Thanks Dave, for your commitment to a potentially lost cause, and for your part in the club's rise. Good luck, and don't forget to take a warm jacket.

  14. I thought Osborne Bulls was going to get up but 'In Her Time' just lasted. Unlucky but the winner too good. I included Osborne Bulls in an exacta so got the collect. A good form line for the Newmarket too. Seeing that we included Winx in the multi our strike rate for the day ended up as 4: 2 - 1 - 0

  15. It is not 'attacking', but some of the comments are shall we say a trifle 'unrealistic' I often wondered why Misso wandered around with a cosh, now i know it was to attack feet of unsuspecting players McDonald was/is a toe, which is manageable AVB was a heel, contracted in a game, which was one nobody had seen before, more like a motorcyclists injury Trengove's was a foot that didn't respond at first to the 'normal' treatment for that injury So all Misso's fault then?

  16. Awesome run by Ossie....sprouted wings. I would say Craig Williams left the run too late.

  17. A 2018 record of 0 out of 6 against top 8 teams with Hogan versus 4 out of 5 when Weid replaced him tells me we might not be fooling ourselves.... Can’t wait to see what Weid does when he and TMac are the options against Carlton etc

  18. Thanks for the lazy 20 Laddies ... Winx supreme. Didn't have much to beat but she's just too good anyway. We really are privileged to witness such greatness. Happy Clapper 2nd again but for the connections, 2nd prizemoney is probably just fine. 5 times now I believe that Happy Clapper has run 2nd to Winx. A 3rd & a couple of 5ths as well? The horse must be tired of seeing Winx fly past!

  19. 1 wins and 1 doesn't run a drum. I will take that as 1 from 2 for win bets ends up being profitable. Multi extinguished but only a small outlay so no bother. Well done Deeza ... you are in hot form!

  20. Yep. Every other club was furious about how Norf went about recruiting. Says it all really.

  21. Yes, a brilliant strategy to get his wife to apply for a prestigious position overseas. Why is it that when anyone leaves the Club they get canned? Watts, Hogan and now Mission and that's just off the top of my head. Misso came to MFC when we were a basket case and we are now an elite organization. He's part of that. Thanks Misso. Good luck and thanks.

  23. No mate ... his best bet is highlighted on the 'Get on' show on Thursday nights (racing channel) So that's it unfortunately. Gator's tips are up on Racing.com (under the best bets banner) Offers up a lot of value this week too.

  24. Yeah Wadda, I base my betting strategy around the chat here, my own thought's, Gator's tips & JJ's tips so I've had to readjust. And in the end I boxed a few behind Winx for a bit of value (in a F4) Searched out JJ's best bet - Morphettville Race 7 No.7 Excessabeel ($5.20)

  25. It is obvious most people do not realize the amount of time it takes to get one person to the elite level of their sport let alone an entire team, at the moment the mfc are light years ahead of where they were prior to Misson joining the club. Injuries will always occur.

  26. Really was it? ok...lets go !! JJ is a real mystery some weeks

  27. Gator's top pick too Wadda ... I'm on. JJ's tips aren't up ... and if they aren't up by this time they usually don't appear.

  28. Hogan is a special talent and we’re fooling ourselves to think he won’t be missed. Weed shows a lot of promise but how he performs in the longer term is yet to be determined.

  30. This! The filth would love to “bring him home” (or maybe kidnap him) at sometime in the future. Lock him away and throw away the key lest Eddie comes sniffing!

  31. Before I get to excited I need to see him play consistently which will hopefully happen this season. If that happens then re-sign him if not then I have no doubt the collywoobles will go after him.

  33. Lets be honest, he hasn't had the best record of keeping our key players on the track. Peter Jackson announced a review of the sport science department late last year after all the foot injuries and this appears to be a subtle changing of the guard. Well done by mfc for managing his exit the way they have. Don't doubt he tried his best. Not a bad time to be leaving by Misso given that we will reflect on all the injured / rehab players we have at the moment and those that re-injure if we don't make the finals this year. A real possibility unfortunately for those of us that are realists

  36. Chaos for oppo backs, predictable laces out delivery to advantage for our forwards. Awesome to have Jake commit long term to our Demons. Should see him into father son territory for his new arrival to qualify down the track as well.

  37. Updated for Melksham signing on till 2022. Its great that he has signed up again as he has turned into a very valuable player, somewhat unexpected at the time he was recruited. We still have one list spot and it looks likely that if it is filled will be in the mid season draft. Gives the club a chance to see how potential target players go in their respective leagues before committing. I would think the club is working on contract extensions for Salem, Weideman and ANB as we speak.

  38. We fell along way short of the best clubs. But this was the case across the board. We did not have the staff, coaches, admin and committed young players that we have today. Whats that word again? Culture? As we have seen, you need to have a committed and professional club from top to bottom.

  39. Still can’t believe the 55 metre goal he kicked against Whorethorn. It looked like a short pass off the boot, but just kept on going....

  41. I've said this before, and not meaning to diminish the obvious ability of Hogan, but we are definitely closer to a flag with May in our side than with Hogan. Can't wait!

  42. I remember one of the training staff labelling him a "Natural Born Killer" due to his attack on the ball in marking contests. Can bang 'em from outside fiddy like a proper power forward too..

  43. I said from the start he will be the lad that is the difference between the flag and no flag. Not only forward but ruck and a run through the guts. Love this fella and mark my words he will sign a six year deal, bag a hundred and be a dees premiership player.
