I just watched Mitch Hannan's GOTY, and then re-watched it another eight times. That used up three or four minutes! ? ps. the goal still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end, and the elation in the crowd still brings a tear to my eye.4 points

And that's useful once in a career. Football in the modern era is made up of 1%ers done repeatedly over the entire year, not some fluke long kick. The 1970s rang and asked you to beam yourself back.3 points

One of the more annoying losses last season was to Port at Adelaide Oval. We had them on the ropes and fell asleep. Crushing them in Round 1, 2019 would be very sweet.3 points

I’m really looking forward to the likes of Hunt and Kolodjashnij forcing Lewis out of the 22. They are the future.3 points

For unknown reasons, players that do an ACL at less than 18 are a very high chance of redoing the same ACL (almost 40%). Maybe the fact they are still growing makes it weak. The second ACL injury repair is usually a lot stronger. So here’s hoping it is like Max who also did his first one at 17 and second at 20.3 points

About to post the same. They must have confused our Points for v Points Against as we averaged 104.5 points for in the H&A season. Quality off season journalism from afl.com.au as usual ?2 points

Yes thats wrong. We were 79.5 points against including finals. Not sure how journos can be so clueless. There were 4 of them writing this article.2 points

I don’t think that Hunt is a particularly bad kick, but rather he doesn’t steady himself before kicking it, too often trying to kick when at full pace2 points

A real asset that the MFC seems to have at the moment for attracting and retaining players is Goody. Listening to KK and May talk reciently, big motivating factors in them joining the Demons was the impression that Goodwin made on them and the vision he was able to articulate for their role in the team. Probably quite a similar story with Milkshake and Hibbard with respects to their relationship with Goodwin. It's particularly the case at lower level footy that the sucessful coaches are the ones that are able to attract and get good footballers wanting to play for the club and I really see this as starting to play out in our favour with Goody's interpersonal skills and the team culture which has been reestablished at the MFC giving us an edge over our opposition for building and maintaining a quality list in the era of salary and football department caps etc.2 points

I know we are all not the same bb however unless the pack is for a Christmas present does it matter when it arrives? Would it not be better to say all requested ones for presents will be delivered before Christmas? That way the system would only have to worry about a small percentage of the memberships before Christmas and the balance in January when the pressure is off. If mine arrived in Feb it would fine, to be honest as long it arrives prior to the first game I would be happy it is not as though it is full of Goodies that can be used before the first game. With the exception of a couple of bumper stickers what use is it on 30th December?1 point

Too early to start predicting crowd figures for Round 1? 40,000 plus would be a nice start.1 point

Mine arrived on Friday 28th. So only took 11 days to from Australia Post central to the suburbs. As I said earlier I did not care when it arrived but you have to wonder about that time frame and the club's promise they will be delivered before Christmas.1 point

Nev Jetta went from delist to essential part of the team and leading AFL small defender after recovering from (presumably) similar issues. Hope KK can do the same.1 point

Is Kelly anywhere close to entering the FA window? If Richmond can land Lynch, then I don't see why we couldn't land Kelly.1 point

I had previously read the "ongoing problems were neck related not concussion related" but this article adds a bit more insight. Apparently he kept failing concussion tests until they identified that the neck muscles ere giving him comparable symptoms. From his debut he played 67 of 75 games before the concussion issues. Missed the back half of 2017. Came back for the first 4 rounds of 2018, had lingering issues, thought it was concussion and took a couple of months to identity the issue. Commenced the neck exercises, and came back for 4 games towards the end (playing out of position as a KPD) when he was injured again. Has really only missed 1.5 seasons with the injury, and it was clear he was ready to leave during this season given the rumors etc. Lot's of upside for us.1 point

I agree that the lack of 2 or 3 players with genuine line breaking, burst speed is a weakness. It’s the main reason why it would be so beneficial if Hunt was able to improve some other areas of his game and force his way in. The promising news is that a couple of senior players have told me that Toby Bedford is the new recruit that has made the biggest impression amongst the playing group up until Christmas and they believe he will play some 1’s in 2019.1 point

The biggest drawback at Melbourne is the lack of pace. The filth Richmond and essendrug far out weigh us in this department. Don't underestimate the power of home ground advantage like the eagles have. The biggest weapon we have is the hunger to succeed. It should be enormous. Just thaught I would add a note of caution.1 point

I'm excited by the training news thus far. It would seem Preuss, the Kolo and Sparrow and Co have a lot to offer. Then there is the massive addition of May. I'm also excited by the news about the once very thin Smith, the son of Sean, and very excited about the smoke signals from Jeffrey Garlett..1 point

I managed to get down to my first pre season training session for the year. Arrived roughly around 0940hrs and Hannan was already leaving the track so not sure what was happening there... As I walked to the boundary fence there was a hype of activity. Rehabbers doing all sorts drills with Crossy, the main squad doing what looked to be AFLX simulation, music was pumping, the Drone hovering and Bradtke doing some solo ruck work with the coaching staff and then a few guys running timed laps around the oval. Viney was running a few laps with good intensity and is looking a little leaner. Lever and Melksham were running with a staff member who looked to be pace setting. They would do two laps and then walk for a minute and repeat, about 10 laps in all at a good intensity. After Baker and Oliver had finished with their rehab duties they were running boundary laps 1 minute on 1 minute off. They both seem to be in good nick and will resume in contact work after the Christmas break. The main group went on to play 3/4 ground hot potato for 15 minutes or so. I was impressed with Sparrow and Bedfords ferocity, they laid quite a few good tackles and smothers to the applause of the Jade Rawlings, furthermore they are noticably quick. Joel Smith is in ripping shape, if he stays injury free, he will have a break out year... no doubt about it. Hibbo looking a little more cut and Garlett seem to be in a good place, he was displaying fantastic touch and footy nous, so i'll be keen to see how he travels next year. Following on from the Hot potato drill, the main group did some ground ball 3 on 1 drills which was a good laugh, especially seeing Spargo, Bedford and JKH trying to take down Gawn or Preuss. It took them a while but they finally got them down. Sparrow, Bedford and Garlett again impressed in these drills. Towards the end of the session, the main group were put through a fairly intense rotating circuit training where they would spend 30 seconds at each station and move on to the next. It consisted of Bag tackling, Machine rowers, straight arm Barbell plate sit ups, Speed ropes, Spin bikes and a few other interesting exercises which looked similar to Jiu Jitsu grappling which again got a lot of laughs from the spectators and media. Preuss basically just lied on top of Frost to catch a bit of respite not to Frosty's enjoyment. Finally to finish it off the main squad had to do full ground suicide runs. ANB, KK, C.Wagner and Jordon were the standouts here with C.Wagner crossing the line first followed by ANB who was 20 meters behind. Frost, May, Preuss and Weidemann were the last to cross. They all then jogged it back to the centre square for drinks and were sucking in the big ones with a few on all fours. Not too long after that the training session was finished around Noon.1 point

Corey Wag is very fit and is running just as well as ANB. ANB had a bandaged knee and seemed a little off though. Tom Swollow was my standout today. Big session today, they all worked extremely hard. Going to training these days is so much more enjoyable with quality players and coaches doing their thing. Our footy IQ is incredibly high now. Merry Christmas to all. Go Dees in 20191 point

I only made it down for about 20 minutes as I have somewhere to be. For about 15 minutes of that time I got distracted and played with a Labrador puppy. Said G’day to Maxy, he said G’day back. The players look much bigger up close, ANB is a sensational runner.1 point

Doing some match simulation stuff. About 20 on field. About 6 off the bench. Shortened oval with no real tackling or goal kicking. Seems more about running, decision making and ball movement. Of the 26 l counted roughly 8 that would be in our starting 22 which includes May. Doing circuit activities now eg weights, ropes, sprints, bags, short kicking, excercises etc. Looks like fun actually. Good energy around the group. Numbers training are a continuing concern though. 22 mfc staff ?1 point

A short sharp craft session followed by a run around the tan for some Preuss continues to impress, if he can translate what I see on the training track to games, he will be an asset, still have not seen him miss a kick, there was a short kick to him that dropped short, thought he would let it go but he scooped it up off the ground and nailed his kick going the other way Got some good pics of him and Gawny doing one on one Craft all about quick ball movement A few of the rehabbers joined session today, all the Hs, Harmes, Hunt, Hore, Tim Smith Jetta, Petracca, Oliver were still in 'rehab'group Melksham and Baker did a boxing session, as per the photo, got a bit willing a couple of times, fun to watch They are trying to fast track Bradtke, Stafford put him through a brutal half an hour at the end of the session A pleasing sight is Bernie Vince bouncing around, big smile on the dial1 point
