We have the former Dogs Coach at our club and he would have several close contacts at the Dogs, including players and officials. If we don't go for Stringer, can we all rest assured that he would know something and that we would therefore know what we are doing. On a pure talent basis of course we would look at him. If we don't, then there would be a very good reason.12 points

I think people forget how good his first half of the season was before he got injured, and also finished top 4 in our B & F last year. We have a lot of inside mid grunt type players, but not many with the silky skills Watts possesses . You only have to look back earlier this year when he kicked the match winner against Collingwood, cool under pressure, then ran back to full back and prevented a goal. i find it a little perplexing the we would even contemplate trading players like Watts and Salem, although I do take Brian Waldrons information with a grain of salt.6 points

Judd's Granny is an anagram of Grand Nu Sydj'. Grand New Sigil? A flag could be considered a type of sigil, right? Bam! The Riddler has been Scooby-Doo'd and we're still three weeks shy of Trade Week.6 points

Not necessarily. You don't know what he might be traded for. I'm not against trading anyone if its an upgrade but you do have to be careful about tearing the fabric of the club. Particularly after what we have been through.3 points

No. No. No A million times no. Why on earth would watts agree to a trade to the blues? The crows maybe (and he would slot in beaitifully in that side). But not the blued. AND WATTS NEEDS TO AGREE TO ANY TRADE AS HE IS A CONTRACTED PLAYER!!!!3 points

So by this wonderful logic I presume you never vote in any election ? After all politicians and parties don't tell us what their legislation will look like - they campaign on broad brush policy. The whole notion of how this simple act of allowing same sex marriage age will affect things like "safe schools" is such a nonsensical argument. This safe schools legislation is not tied at the hip to same sex marriage and has already had movement and purported changes independent of the same sex marriage vote. All we are being asked to do is vote on same sex marriage. Any other issues like safe schools and religious freedoms (or any issue for that matter) may or may not be brought up in parliament and may or may not be enacted.3 points

Maybe we could get Wellman back as backline coach as well? He did a bloody good job before he answered the call of the Hird.3 points

The more I watch of the finals this year the more bummed I am that we missed out. Not very impressed at all with the quality.2 points

I don't get the fuss. When I'm at the footy I can never understand a word of what Robbo says.2 points

Binman - totally in awe of your Sisyphus-like persistence in trying to explain this stuff. Sadly, just like Sisyphus, you just might have to go on pushing it uphill forever2 points

As my great'a poppa used to say, back in the old'a country used to say'a. You cann'a use string'a or you can use a lev'a, but not both'a, because it don't work'a..........2 points

Just as it is your opinion that Stringer has a higher ceiling. And I suggest that you look up the definition of "scapegoat". The Dogs are getting rid of him for a reason.2 points
-
Stringer is a midfielder/forward...he's had to play too much forward time at the dogs because he can kick a goal. Release him more into the midfield, that's what I would do if we had him. Not saying we get him or not but we (Macca & Jennings) would have a pretty fair idea of what we are looking at here.2 points

Swans gone... hahaha and another year closer to their window being shut. I hope it burns.2 points
-
No worries. He might want to leave that is true. But there is no evidence is he is unhappy at the club. And i maintain that he will have zero interest in going to a club in the bottom half of the ladder. Why would he? He's had more than his fair share of being in crap teams2 points

I would much rather trade dom Tyson than either watts or Salem. I think he's falling down the list of our inside mids with the rise of Oliver and petracca and doesn't have the attiributes to contribute as effectively in another position. Petracca can go forward. Dom really can't, doesn't have the skills for defence, doesn't have the speed for wing or forward but he's a more than handy inside mid2 points

You could argue that this still means it was leaked. Even when it was reported that Lewis was on his way out of the club, it was quickly clear we were the destination. Think back to even the Dom Tyson trade - we knew we had a deal cooking with them well in advance, it was just unclear what the players were. I feel as though if we were heavily into Stringer then we would know something about it. We don't generally play our cards that close to our chest, although I wholeheartedly agree that we don't put too much out there in the media, or allow it to happen as much as other clubs. However, we have not been mentioned anywhere, and it's clear that Stringer has put both the Cats and the Bombers at the top of his list. I think this takes us well and truly out of the equation.2 points

I too think he's playing at the wrong end of the square. He has great radar for the sticks. Build his tank. Keep him.2 points
-
Definitely this. He is a midfield/half-forward, his disposal is nice off half back but we often get hurt by his opponent and he is easily taken out if games. He can win a contested ball and can use it well. He also has great goal sense, something that is intuitive. If he doesn't have the tank to play middle I'd rather see him as a rotating wing/half forward than wing/half back.2 points
-
How good is Danger? He made Buddy look like a waste of space. His aggression at the contest and his speed make him nearly unstoppable. He is a match winner. We don't have one.2 points
-
I'll be pretty disappointed if we trade him. He only just turned 22 and has dealt with a lot of injuries and illnesses early in his career. Before getting injured he played some great games.2 points
-
I'd kill to not have him at the club. He was good as a player, but I think he would be a very average assistant coach. Seemingly Carlton & North agree.2 points
-
After the trade season is over he will be delisted. Just putting him on the trade table to see if someone bites. I don't know why so many people want Vandenberg gone. If fit I think he is in our best 22.2 points

Exactly, and not one of them has the balls to front up and tell us what he ( Stringer ) actually did - wrong. Its all anonymous innuendo, nudge, nudge, wink wink fake rumors and they have an "idea" . Yeah, yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah. Oh, thats right "he, threatened the culture" - there holier than thou views make me laugh. I'm prepared to back Macca one way or another.2 points

This is not exactly on the topic but does relate to Robbo's involvement with the club: Has the club got enough public liability insurance to pay out those victims who break their necks during the 1/4 time Hogan's Heroes speccy marking contests? That Robbo hosted event is a tragedy waiting to happen?2 points

obviously pick 11 would get him but the bombers are notoriously tough negotiators and will try and get him cheaper. additionally stringer has (reportedly) said he wants to go to the cats which will have a big bearing if true. cats won't have a high pick especially if they get ablett. finally it's obvious that dogs regard him as toxic (for whatever reason) and have shown their hand early, so it's pretty sure he'll go and dogs will have reduced bargaining power i don't doubt stringer has talent (aa 2 years ago) but his form has been down for 2 years now plus he's developed a bad behavioural rep. he carries a high risk factor and consequently he should go for unders1 point

As has been posted by a few others, we should now avoid recruiting any depth players. Any trades or FA's should be seen as best 22 or ignored. The draft can give us more depth players, being the ones that don't quite make it, added to those we retain.1 point

Hannan hasn't had nearly the opportunity Kent has and took his spot. Another pre season and improved tank and I'd have hannan comfortably ahead of Kent.1 point
