Stevo just reported that MFC said it would take Collingwood a lot more than a straight swap for Kennedy to get Howe.14 points

I will be absolutely furious if we don't push Collingwood hard A swap for Kennedy and some shitty 3rd round pick is an absolute rubbish deal for us, when a hack like Henderson netted a first round pick. Seriously.10 points

Jeez there are set dead set sad sods in here. The expectations that an A grader will all of a suddan leap us into a finals is outrageous. Where was Port Adelaides A grader when they rose up the ladder? Where was the Western Bulldogs A grade elite when they rose up last year. It takes 22 blokes not an individual. Wont be the end of the world if we dont land one.9 points

So in a perfect world, it sounds like from this trade period we might be looking at something like: Howe & Pick 6 to Gold Coast Picks 3 & 35 (received from Fremantle for Bennell) back to Melbourne Pick 35 to Collingwood for Kennedy Grimes & Pick 45 to Richmond Pick 31 back to Melbourne Pick 31 to GWS Bugg back to Melbourne Toumpas to Port Pick 29 to Melbourne Pick 29 to Essendon Melksham to Melbourne We get Melksham, Bugg, Kennedy, Pick 3 (Darcy Parish) & hold onto Pick 25 (James Parsons or one of the McKay boys) in exchange for: Howe, Grimes, Toumpas, Pick 6 & 45 Would be brilliant!9 points

I hope we tell Collingwood that we're not interested in fringe players and late picks for Howe. We want someone who walks into our starting 18. The one I'd be asking for is Brayden Maynard. 186cm, 88kg, penetrating left foot half back flanker. Pick 30 last year. Walks into Howe's spot. Went to Haileybury with Brayshaw and I see the old man even played a few games for Melbourne. They could afford to let a back flanker go with Marley Williams and Tom Langdon back there, so if they are serious about Howe he's the one I'd be asking for.8 points

Mi don't want to lose the Toump. I still think he can become a good player. Pick 29 for him isn't great for us, it's actually very poor, I'd rather hold onto him for a few more years and if he doesn't make it cut him. 29 in a weak draft is poor. We can get Kennedy for a third rounded from the filth, a second rounder is overs for him, they were poor this year and he couldn't get a game.8 points

I work for Champion Data, capturing AFL and TAC stats every weekend during the season. Seen every game Parish has played in over the past two seasons, he's a star.7 points

No, your comprehension skills are what sucks. The club has already said the Pies will need to offer a lot more than Kennedy to get the deal done. If you could read or pay attention you would know that.7 points

Ch 7 reported after speaking to Melbourne IF he chooses Collingwood it will take alot more than a straight swap for Kennedy. It inferred we have a deal agreed in principle with Suns if he chooses there.7 points

Oh for god sake that a deep breath, go for a walk, have a coffee. There is still a week of the trade period to go. Roos arrived to a VFL level list that was always going to take five plus year to turn it into a top four list. we are at the end of the second year. The list improved substantially last year and will again this year. As for Geelong you have no idea what they will produce next year why not wait and see before announcing their improvement. We could easily improve by a similar amount and still beat them.7 points

On principle I would let Howe screw himself in the draft than let Collingwood screw us in a trade for him. Get your sunscreen ready Howey boy, you're heading to the Goldie.6 points

Surely you have to give our coaches and list management team a bit more respect than the above? It's a long two weeks... Let's not get carried away with negativity just yet6 points

Time to seriously grow some balls Melbourne and show some khunt! Greedy campaigner.. wish we just pulled the trigger last year. Gotta look after ourselves you know.6 points

It is now! 3 cheers for derivative sayings... maybe we can consider Prestia as 'signed, sealed and delayed'6 points

Biclavs is their principal ruckman now. To follow the arguments about Geelong, just because they have traded 3 players into the club won't get them across the line necessarily. S.Selwood is not Joel, and the fact that WCE failed to match the bid indicates even they don't think he is all that great, despite their bleatings after the event. Dangerfield is one of the top A-grade players in the competition, but he got himself to Geelong, not the other way around. Henderson...Smith.....maybe, maybe not. As Wise has noted their backline is ageing quickly. They lost Rivers this year and haven't replaced him. They have also lost S Johnson, who probably won them half a dozen games off his own boot. AND they were beaten by a bottom 6 side at their home ground this year and didn't make the finals. They have thrown everything at getting into finals again, ( rightly so at their point of development), but it will not win them a Premiership. Hawthorn is the model for that. They don't bring 4 mature players into the side in 1 year and throw away their top draft picks.6 points

I am in a conundrum - I want Geelong to fail badly but I don't want Carlton to get a good pick... Let's hope Geelong are middle of the road next year, then terrible after that. It's the best of scenarios!6 points

Whilst it appears there is nothing too much to be excited about I think the club is building the list in the right way at least. They are trying to fill holes in the list with players of a certain age profile that they think they can get a certain amount of service out of. Hopefully those players will reduce the holes in our list from the bottom 6 players in the 22 & make us a lot more competitive. I will admit that we could do with a star player being drafted but the reality is there is another 15 or so clubs that won't land any big fish this trade period either. Building our list around Hogan, Petracca, Brayshaw & Viney is a good start. Looks like we will have to be patient & see if the club can land someone like Parish to add to that nucleus of genuine A grade undeveloped talent & build our list around those type of players until we get closer to finals & become a "destination club".5 points

If Prestia goes to any club in Melbourne, it'll be Melbourne. His family is far too invested in the club and his dad has friendships there. I know that "supporting the club as a kid" has little weight these days but it's different in this case. There's no way he'd pull on the jumper of another Melbourne club. That's not to say he's guaranteed to come to leave GC but if he does it'll be to go to Melbourne. They practically have him gift wrapped, ready to be delivered. If he ends up elsewhere it would be a major indictment on the club. There hasn't been a player of his caliber with so many ties to the MFC in the club's history. If they don't take advantage of that, it would be an embarrassment.5 points

I was engaged to a girl who died suddenly. I married another girl 3 years later. Harsh? Nope. I loved the first one more than I ever did or ever can love a girl; I worshipped the ground that she walked on and if you told me to this day that she was less than perfect then I'd spit in one eye and punch you in the other. Sam Stynes, Trisha Broadbridge, Glen McGrath... I always cringe a little when someone suggests that they moved on a little too fast (not suggesting that is what being said here btw). I think it is that you move forward, not on. The grief never lessens. I still cry about her loss 15 years later, and am trying hard not to right now, but we are creatures that need a mate, a lover, a friend. It's no disrespect to do that to a lost one and you know in your hear that the one you lost want it for you, and if things were reversed you'd want it for them. At least that is where my head is at.5 points

They still have no ruckman, with Wells even admitting today it's going to be a struggle to get Zac Smith to the club after they've traded away 3 picks already, and their defence is aging with Taylor, Lonergan, Mackie and Enright all set to retire in the next couple of years. No doubt they will be competitive but they still have some major holes in their line up to go with some kids who still have plenty to prove. Or I could just be hoping like hell that the Cats are still a middle of the road team.4 points

How is a kid who's played 10 AFL games averaging less than 10 possessions, better than a 100 game player who finished 9th in Dons B&F this year and 5th a few years back? Really!?3 points

That's Essendons plan, offload as meany players of the 34 as they can so other clubs will get involved if anything happens3 points

We will get Parish for sure. Absolute gun/jet apparently. My mate who works for the Falcons has said he has seen Goodwin in the rooms already at several games watching Parish specifically.3 points

Howe isn't a free agent. Melbourne shouldn't care what he wants. He wants out and we want the best deal. If he's not happy, he can go into the draft. Sick of selfish players getting their way. He has done SFA in football. The nerve. We should have our best interests at heart. And only our best interests.3 points
