  3. It's about bloody time "I'd be really surprised if he was able to put out 20 games a season for six seasons in a row for that club," Larkins said. "I can't see 120 games over six years, based on the fact he played 10 out of 22 this year." Larkins said Scully's initial left knee injury, which required surgery before he was drafted at No.1 in 2008, would continue to dog him. "It's turned out the original injury, which has resulted in some bone being removed from his kneecap, has changed the shape of his knee," Larkins said. "He now has an issue ... as he gets stronger and bigger he can only put more stress on the knee. "As you get older, knee injuries only get worse ... they don't get better." http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/tom-scullys-the-6-million-man/story-e6frf9jf-1226136211308?nk=746f1b34d28ebe784812ce9cbe434cce all the best in your recovery you lying dog

  4. Regardless of what you think of some players, this is really pushing decency, let alone the Demonland Code of Conduct that says players should be afforded some respect.

  7. Seriously everyone its time to get over it and move on. Three years is enough! He is not the first guy to leave for money and damn well won't be the last. Anyone who gets paid to do anything and then gets an offer to do it somewhere else for a lot more money would take it. The kid took hold of the greatest opportunity a 20 year old would ever get and good luck to him. Anyone who says they wouldn't do the same is lying to them selves.

  8. I'm sure he won't be the last player to leave this or another club for money. But the way he left and the lies he told are the reasons many Melbourne supporters feel betrayed! And there have been many instances of very good players knocking back big offers so they could stay at the one club!

  14. Correct. He is refusing to talk to only one club, his own. He would now have offers from a few clubs. If he wanted to stay, he would be telling the club what he has been offered and seeing what we can do. HE IS GONE.

  16. Surprised no thread has been made on this so far: Footballers in Cars getting Coffee. It's a new video on the MFC website and it's a brilliant idea to rip off an already brilliant idea, that is Jerry Seinfeld's great little Internet show "Comedians in Cars getting Coffee." Episode 1 is Robbo interviewing big Max Gawn. If you've not seen the original, this is basically the same thing where the host picks someone up, they drive around in the car and then have coffee, all the time just having a conversation. Nothing groundbreaking, but it gives an insight into their personality and is relatively entertaining. It's exactly that - light entertainment for supporters. I notice its directed and produced by Court Sage Heart, who looks to be new to the media dept and I think is bringing in some great new ideas. I think the AFL club media is heading towards more personality driven content, as there's only so much we can watch where the coaches repeat all the same cliches and in the end tell us essentially nothing new. Same with anything to do with injury reports, etc. Newsbeat looks like a regular segment that has popped up and is a bit like a short highlights show for those of us who have a hard time finding the time to watch all the videos produced, and to get the snippets that actually do come out of all the other guff. Not the greatest I've seen from the outset, but a rough diamond that could be polished. Saves me time at least. Also probably worth mentioning that there's another new face on there, I think her name was Anna Harrington from memory. She interviewed T-Mac and Barry when they signed extensions. Good to see the media dept expanding and producing greater quality media for us supporters.

  17. Bumped into a bloke at qtr time who I hadn't seen for a couple of decades. He talked a lot when I knew him a long time ago, and that hasn't changed. We watched the rest of the game together but I couldn't give any updates or keep a close eye on the players because that would have been impolite. Don't some people realise there are more important things in life than friendships??? Anyway, I thought there was a more even contribution from the team today and found it harder to find standout players. Big Max had another very good game playing mostly in the ruck. He was up against Warnock and had the better of him most of the time. Took some more good marks and kicked 3 goals. I was pleased to see an improvement in Viv Michie's form. He got a lot more of the ball than I had seen in the past few games at Casey, playing inside mid. Some good passages where he drove the ball forward out of the middle on a few occasions, one of which led to a goal as I recall. Harmes continues to impress me with his energy and attacks on the ball, and mostly clean ball handling. Nicho was again in a fair bit of the play but didn't dominate as much as a couple of weeks ago. Didn't see him really butcher a ball at all, but there was plenty of play that I couldn't see well across on the far wing. Strauss had a just ok game. Had a couple of good passes but didn't cut up through the middle as much this week.

  18. Let's never forget that the AFL green lighted the snagging of our number one draft pick at a time where we were absolutely on our knees. Far worse than the position we are in now. This included the side deal including Phat Phil that was only rectified when the Afl were caught out and the corresponding shooting off by Sheedy. Don't expect me to take a rational position because I cannot. I hate what was happening to us and, by extension, I hope he is not successful. Call it tribalism.

  20. Hey lads, I've stuck with the dees all my life (only 18 years but still...) and have been copping [censored] left right and centre for the past 8 years from my mates so its so refreshing that I found this website where there are actually so many other real Melbourne Demons supporters. Anyways, I listened to an interview from Dunn recently and from memory, he said that he's (not necessarily the club) interested in us finding more forwards as opposed to midfielders. From a leader, who probably knows a hell of a lot more than we do, this seems pretty interesting (despite what Roos has said in the past). So potentialy, there could be a lot more Legitimacy in the claims that we are interested in Cameron than you think. Indeed exciting times ahead for the Dees nonethless!!!!

  24. Great opportunity to grab a young star. Watched Jordan Schroeder today for Geelongs VFL Team today. He smashed the Dolphins with 30+ possessions and at about 100% efficiency... none were wasted. 15 Clearances. Good burst of pace. Too good for VFL. He has some injuries but I see a bright future. Offer 3 years and $200,000/yr contract. This kid won the Liston last year as a 20 year old.

  25. Meanwhile, GWS players are gagging to get out of the place. Rich pickings for a clever club. Just as long as we don't try any stupid revenge stunt and pay massive overs for a GWS player.

  26. Some others as they come to mind: Evans had a pretty quiet game - from what I could see. Salem looks like a half a class at least above VFL level. His goal was a set shot from around 30-40 m out straight in front. Connected beautifully. He will never be nervous in front of goal after the Essendon match winner. He also takes on and takles players much bigger than himself but is quite effective despite the size disadvantage. He came off early into the last qtr I think. Walked right past me - no signs of any discomfort. Matt Jones gives the same as in AFL games. Running hard all the time. Did well again today. I'm sure he is out of the seniors just to give some others a chance to show whether they can make it. Clisby - nothing of significance today. Got into a few passages of play but not a standout. Fitzy didn't do much ruck work today - that was mostly left to Max. He was a forward target but the delivery wasn't always to his advantage. Still managed to kick a few. Missed some shots as well. Barry got involved sporadically. He went hard when it was his turn to go. Sometimes let himself down with decision making and disposal. Troy 'Truck' Davis - only a Scorps player now as we know, has become one if the key Scorps leaders in defence. His size and skills are better than average and its good to see him playing a valuable role, which is also valued by his team mates. Edit: re-looking at the stats perhaps I've under-rated Clisby?

  29. like the new segment. Love getting to know the players on a more personal level. Good idea choosing Gawn to kick off the segment, bit of a "character". The jokes about Chippa and his contracts are quite funny too. Interesting to see Gawn's Mum (?) post these under the MFC Facebook post...hehe: Sandra Gawn Why didn't you answer my call? 30. It beggar's belief that a senior player who has been at the club for a very long time now does not know what he wants to do at the end of the season, so close to the end of the season. It's either head in the sand stuff or he is fanatically following his player-manager's advice/script. Neither of which are particularly helpful to the club in the current circumstances. I do, however, think certain posters here are stupid. How, one might reasonably ask, have I reached this conclusion without ever having met them? Well, I have observed the way that they write, and appear to think, over a very long period of time. In much the same way as I am able to observe the way in which Frawley conducts himself in interviews and the like, ie, through his conduct and what he says. I don't otherwise know the bloke - but it doesn't mean I can't form a view, and that such a view is without any legitimacy.

  31. All part of the cunning devious plot by the Scully's and Richmond first implemented when we drafted him to eventually get him to his spiritual home at the Tigers. I'm sure GWS are getting to the stage where they would desperatly love to offload him. The Scully plan is to devalue boy wonder so much that he becomes a free set of steak knives.

  32. It's fair to say - one thing Frawley has seemingly been especially loyal/committed to this year is not letting the club know what he intends to do at the end of the season. I would've thought, by now, he pretty well knows whether he would like to leave or stay. And, if he doesn't, he really is not much more than a simple spud farmer.

  33. I actually think he is an ok footballer, but he is developing very slowly and would probably not be in our starting 22 if still with us. But the way he left the Dees... will never forget him. But with his season ending surgery I am now disappointed that my eldest daughter and I will now miss our annual "Booing Tom Scully Game" which has become such a favourite. I know it sounds petty but I cannot tell you how much I enjoy booing this bloke every time he is near the ball.

  40. What we saw last night from Sydney is what I expect to see from Melbourne in 2016. Hard, unrelenting two way running and a tremendous defence. The Swans and the Hawks look light years ahead of the rest.

  41. I am only 18 myself too, welcome to DLand. Pretty sure that interview was this week? If it's the one I'm thinking of then yes he said basically we need another big key forward, to go alongside Dawes and Hogan, he mentioned Tex Walker and Josh Kennedy, even said that we'd offer Buddy 15 years. While he's obviously taking the p!ss about Buddy, we do still need another key forward. Wether it's Tex or Cameron, who knows. But that doesn't mean we won't go hard for mids either, mids win games and ultimately finals. Swans won without Tippett/Buddy, they won the flag because of their dominant midfield. We'll be targeting a ruckman for when Jamar slows down/finishes, a key forward, and mids mids mids. Just can't focus on getting a big key forward thinking they'll win us games, we need a good delivery to the forwards so they can kick goals, that's where having a dominant midfield helps.

  43. I bet against us all the time but usually as part of a multi bet - considering our performances over the last decade you'd be an idiot if you put money on us.T The only time this has hurt me is Queens Bday 2012, I needed Collingwood to win by over 45 points or something and I would pocket over $600 for a $5 bet. Sammy Blease kicks a great goal from the boundary with under a minute to go to bring the margin to 41 points and I lose out. Was cursing that goal for weeks.

  46. Wouldn’t use a high pick, but if he’s coming out of contract, I’d certainly gauge interest. There’s always the threat of the PSD if we lured him home. We might be able to bargain the Eagles down to a second round pick in this scenario. Whilst he hasn’t kicked on from a promising start at West Coast, he’d still be a good addition to our midfield group. He gut runs to find the ball on the outside and uses it neatly.

  48. If people are frustrated by Vince's disposal efficiency (DE) they shouldn't be. The numbers don't tell the full story. Rather than handpass the ball to a stationary target or give the ball off to a player who is probably going to be under pressure, Vince often likes to instead gain metres for the team by getting the ball moving our way (by foot) Only problem with that is that our players often play from behind so Vince's kicks can sometimes result in a turnover. If our forwards and those forward of the ball can play in front a lot more, watch his DE soar. As it stands, I believe he's right up there in metres gained anyway. I like his no-nonsense approach. He's a very good player - smart, has footy nous, reads the play well and uses the ball better than many of our other players. He's a B or B+ player and we should be thankful that we've got him for a few years. An excellent swap for Sylvia as its turned out (a virtual swap)
