We have players with the potential to win a Brownlow or 2. No doubt the group above will win a swag of Best and Fairests and a bunch of All Australian guernseys, maybe even a Coleman Medal or 2. And hopefully there is at least 1 Norm Smith among them

I did not include the likes of Rivers, Moloney and Davey as they have played a fair bit of footy.

Please vote in the poll, so we can see once and for all who is the most highly rated youngster among us Melbourne supporters!

Nice poll. I think Brock's the obvious choice at this stage, but any of those top 4 listed could be star players.

Brock we dont even need to talk about.

Jones is tough, determined, a bash and crash machine. Fix his kicking, and he will be a stand out ball winner in the Sam Mitchell mould.

Sylvia is the wild card. Great mark for his size, great leap, strong, aggressive, decent pace; he is currently a more than handy half-forward who could move into the midfield once he gains fitness. He has the attributes to be a star of the competition, just a matter of whether his body (and head) will hold him back or not.

Bate is quickly becoming one of our most reliable players. His hands have glue on them. It's amazing seeing some of the marks he takes when he is so stretched to grab the ball. He has good pace, good work ethic, and he could become a great CHF IMO. Been great this last month and abit. Great to see his confidence on the rise.

The rest of the group, bar probably CJ, Buckley and Garland at this point, will all be solid players for us for many years to come.

I voted for Brock, purely based on last years final against St.Kilda. To me he is the bloke that will lead us at the most crucial times. Having said all that the future is bright.

We need the right coach and a bit of luck and we'll have a premiership in the near future. Hopefully before I'm 30!

(For reference I'm 23 yrs old, that gives us 7 years!)

Pretty hard to say at this point in time, but seriously what a great list to choose from :D

Don't underestimate Frawley.

There aren't a whole lot of up and coming defenders, and if he can make his mark in the game, he could easily earn a couple of AA selections.

Petterd. I don't like easy votes. ^_^

What will he win first, B&F or AA?

its a pretty tough decision with all these guys but i have to choose mclean because of his leadership, though i reckon sylvia has got it. But all these guys have the potential to become stars, my smoky is petterd and i reckon he could be vice captain behind brock.

Also you guys need to get off CJ's back, you need to let him prove himself like sylvia. How much oppurtunity has CJ had to sylvia. Cj needs more game time to adjust to the pace of afl and i'm sure he will prove himself throughout the rest of the season.

Most decorated...

Well, i think this will come down to who wins the most amount of club champions, and from that list I can imagine McLean being the most consistent. Newton will probably be our highest goal scorer for awhile so that will help him.

ive gone with sylvia, because i think if he gets his body right he will be one of those impact players that win votes. gives him a good shot at the brownlow if he puts in a full season. he is also a chance to be a strong resting forward late in his career, and could turn garry ablett style if we want to use him that way...

although i think bate and mclean are more likely to win the bluey...

I just hope that at the end of their careers we're comparing number of premierships, norm smiths, colemans, all-Australians and maybe state jumpers collected by a great many on that list. How do you compare Newton's 6 Colemans and 3 premierships with Sylvia's dual brownlows and 3 premierships? Brocky captaining Victoria surely must give him the edge not to mention his efforts captain-coaching Melbourne to their first premiership in 08!

Dare to dream . . . .

I personally wouldn't care at all about the accolades for the players as long as they have premiership medals.

Comrades, the Master has my vote.

He is going to hurt the opposition.

Biffinator.

Exciting future I don't care which one but with the players mentioned plus a few others the below team gives us a bright future

Petterd Frawley Garland

Bell Rivers Bartram

Buckley Judd CJ

Bate Dunn Sylvia

Davey Newton Johnson

???, Mclean, Jones

Moloney

The 1st Ruck is the missing link, hopefully we get a good one this draft and Judd, domination for 2008 and beyond.

I voted for Belly in this but only because the heart told me to.

If I went with the head it would be Brocky but there is so much potential for all of them on that list.

Brock grabbing 40 possessions in a game.

Newton kicking 10 goals.

Bate grabbing 15 marks and 3 goals at CHF

Frawley becating opponents week in week out.

The possibilities are endless

Very hard to pick......but gave my vote to Matty Bates but nearly went to Colin Sylvia. Not much between them. Then Brocky

Can i add PJ to this group?

Maybe not as young as the rest in terms of age, but in terms of games played he is very much in the early stages of his career.

If a bit of faith is put in him by the new coach and he can nail down the #1 ruck possie, i think he has a massive scope to become a star at AFL level. Maybe not as an out-and-out dominant tap ruckman, but something in the mould of a bigger, stronger Jeff White-type follower.

With more game time and confidence, he could be anything, and is the kind of player who after some big games will be noticed by the wider football public (and the umpires) because of his size, agility and skills. He won a Liston at VFL level, who's to say he can't win a Brownlow even?? In a few years obviously, but his scope for improvement is massive...

Very exciting young player.

Having said all that, i voted for Juice. He's got that something special about him... you just know (or greatly hope) that he can become a marque player of the league in a few years time.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
