What's the deal with the 1:20 Saturday timeslot?

Since when has that been a thing. They've either been 1:45 or 2:10.

Not complaining, I think it's great, just curious

Assuming they’ve worked out it’s better for tv timeslots

Why??

I like wearing MFC polo tops as casual wear when on holidays abroad. Some people like to wear say NY Yankees or Real Madrid apparel. I like Demons polo tops, authentically Melbourne, my home town.

The draw is fine. We were going to travel and play with red footys as soon as we tumbled. And boy did we tumble…

And 3.20 Sunday is not ‘the bad old days’ - that slot is on C7 and leads into the news. The bad old days was 1.10 on Sunday when no one cared you were playing.

My advice to fans in Melbourne - get to games, don’t boo Petracca, and if you’re upset about only 12 games at the G, you know how you can get more games at the G next year???

10 of 14 games on FTA so even though we've been largely relegated from Prime time, we are still going to be quite visible to the masses.  Helps our sponsors too

And the overall match-ups aren't difficult at all.  So in effect, finishing 14th gave us a much easier draw and set us up for 2 picks inside the top 10 in the draft

We play the following teams once only ... Sydney, Brisbane, Geelong, Port, Freo, GWS, Carlton, Essendon & Doggies (all of whom could be described as finals contenders)

So, considering that our list is still in quite good shape (injuries aside), we've been gifted a golden opportunity ... especially if those 2 draft picks have an impact in their first year.  One draftee (at least) might be a plug-in-and-play type

And despite all the other issues we've had, that stuff will be forgotten quickly if we start winning from the get-go.  Flying under the radar with an underdog status can be a real advantage as well as an us-against-them mentality

The MC need to use every means possible for a top 4 finish

But much will depend on Petracca & Oliver.  If both get back to their best, the sky is the limit

Top 8 at a minimum but if we have a 2021 type year with regards to injuries, we can contend again

Bring on the draft and let JT work his magic

Very strange...

First time we have ever played a Melbourne club there ( I think)

The abacus is spinning

We actually played the Saints at Traeger during the hub, just prior to the two Cairns games (I think) BP5 scored the winning goal that just crept over the goal line (no cameras on the line).

Someone has to say it, so I'll be the [censored], the snow forecast is good btw r14-17.

But seriously Carlton with 3rd easiest draw, that is ridiculous.

Well I like it. Like how we're back to arvo games.

Hare how we get Collingwood twice now.

Avoid another essendon game because I'm not going to go to Adelaide.

Home game against wc at marvel will be interesting

Back at Geelong, no way can I make it on a Friday night. But so are essendon and Richmond so that's OK.

Can't complain.  When you only draw 16000 towards the end of the season you deserve what you get.

Anyone asked trac if the fixture is OK with his brand?

Magnificent work Lucifer. You just need to swap the days for rounds 4 and 5.  Dates are correct.

Thanks.

We played St kilda at Alice Springs in 2020. We won by 3 points.

Looks like a great draw, playing Tigers twice would have been an improvement, perhaps Saints at the G and an interstate team in Alice.

Looks like we are set up for a very good year:

- Trac, Oliver and Petty full pre season

- longer preseason for all

- JVR another pre season will have a big year

- two early picks, expecting at least one to be in top 23 for the season

- administration distractions out of the way

- finally very good draw

Go Demons!!

FWIW I don’t mind No.31 posting in our forum. He clearly has a soft spot for us and it’s sometimes good to get an outside read on things and the little bit of niggle he sometimes gives is usually given back without any malice so fair play to him. I really can’t stand Carlton though.

fair enough.

I guess I like coming here to chat without supporters from other clubs

I have a broken windshield wiper face tatt, Mara Salvatrucha style ...

I see what you did there with 'The Offspring' reference 😄

Don't do tatts ... only thing I would possibly even remotely consider is a small and discrerte Navy Blue CFC monogram when the flags come. Something like CFC 2025-2027 😁

Our fixture is not great from a financial perspective or for our sponsors in terms of the lack of free to air Friday and Sat night games

Mitigating that a bit is we have heaps of Sunday 3.20 games, which are actually ok as they are live free to air and i susslect rate well because they run into the news.

And to be honest, dees fans don't always  turn up in great numbers for night games, so we won't lose too much in crowd revenue

Making finals on the back of an easy draw would also mitigate the impact of less 'high commercial gain' games.

We are scheduled to play a home game there next year but it is not our home ground.

The MCG is our home ground, Collingwood, Hawthorn and Richmond are also tenants there.

Docklands tenants are North, Bulldogs, Saints, Carlton and Essendon. The AFL schedules some of their home games at the MCG but their home ground is Docklands.

Melbourne should not be scheduled to play home games at Docklands at all and certainly not at the expense of Docklands tenants who want to play home games at the G.

If we don’t show up to our MCG home games none of this will matter.

Carlton and Essendon are going to keep pressing for more MCG home games and someone is going to have to make way.

GWS at the G is not a great opener .

Theyll be right into us re crowds and supporters not turning up from day one.

Trac will love playing in front of 20,000 adoring fans again.

Not a massive fan of the floating fixture but at least it gives you an opportunity to play your way back into prime time games after round 15.

If we're 6-3 / 5-4 after round 9 when the floating fixture is getting finalised, you'd imagine we'll have some prime time games against Carlton, Hawthorn and possibly Bulldogs and St Kilda. There's also Collingwood in the final game which is a potential Friday night.

As an aside @No. 31

How do the reserved seat memberships work for Blues fans? Do you get visibility on both MCG and Docklands seats as part of your membership, or a reserved seat at one ground, and a ‘section’ at another?

This is my fault, think i'll be overseas sorry.

But starting us off against a lowly supported interstate team will not help the narrative.
