Maybe the lions will have an off game and win by less than a hundred.

I'm a little anxious about this one.

I had the Brisbane game penciled in as probably our last loss for this season but with the lack of resilience of so many on here it would be good to get the win and ease the distracting jungle-drums.

The Dees will do extremely well considering all of our players have been rested in the last 3 weeks. Young Brown given junk time as the sub, what must one do to break in the side ?

I think we need to bring a hard tag back. We don’t have the midfield quality to be able to let the opposition run free anymore.

They’ve been using Berry, so wouldn’t be surprised if he goes to Viney. In turn we should put ANB on Neale who struggles to shrug attention.

Would like to see Rivers spend more time in the midfield.

Really not looking forward to it, but an opportunity to see what our coaching staff can come up with.

IN: Lever, AMW
OUT: Tomlinson, Howes

Would give KB a full game but no chance Goodwin drops Chandler

Or will we get this Brisbane?

giphy.gif.3f687af067083c8f72419de546278f04.gif

In Sestan out Chandler, doesn’t get it enough

In Fullarton out Turner - better relief ruck option than JVR, IMO, and Max surely will benefit, now and in September ? And for those who bag Fullarton, before he’s had a chance, WHY did the FD recruit him ?

In Lever * out Howes

Keep Tomlinson , play taller down back, Tommo is better ground-ball player than he is in the air, and whilst not quick is mobile.

K. Brown start as a small forward with Pickett.

Bowey sub

We’re not cutting it ATM so why not trick it up. Don’t worry about the number of changes.
Through forced circumstances we have potentially found a star centreman in Rivers. Sticking fat ( on reputation ) hasn’t worked for a while, sit on your hands = expect the same result.

We will turn it into a slog and hope we are close enough to snatch a win. Expecting a real dour contest. A good gauge for both clubs, not that we don't already know where we sit in the comp.

Insofar as Chandler is concerned, the team actions from him are important ( 8 tackles is a pretty good night, when Demonland is lighting up on one specific tackle (Well done young Brown, a ripper run down tackle !!!) .

The coaching staff would recognise that aspect and the importance of them. The media have concentrated on Brown's tackle because it would require taking notice of the game to appreciate the in and under stuff that goes on for the rest of the game..

Having said that the position he plays is a very difficult one. There have been numerous contributors who have slagged players in this position of small forward. (Spargo, ANB ,Kozzie,)

If you thought the Freo loss was bad then Friday night is going to be an ugly [censored] show.

Fritsch, Chandler, Howes and Bowza should all come under selection scrutiny

Especially Chandler.

I think Windsor has to go. Couldn’t even execute basic handballs last night. Needs a rest.

Also AnB must tag Zorko and we need Petty to play a defensive forward role on Andrews. If we can nullify those two we might get a look in.

Petty just played his best game in weeks and I’m nowhere near as down on him as most but I genuinely wonder if you just sit him out and throw BBB to the wolves against Harris. We know Petty v Brisbane doesn’t end well.

Windsor needs a rest, but watching Woey and Billings it’s hard to know if either are worth picking.

Fritsch absolutely needs a run at Casey, but McAdam is doing little to inspire confidence. I’d probably make the swap tho, Fritsch needs the rocket up him so badly.

Honestly I expect Lever for Tomlinson and that’s about it.

To me the must tag for ANB is McCluggage.

Rotate half forwards through Zorko and get them to hit him at every chance

Agreed. When Brisbane were at their Lowest point in years. They are a completely different team in the past 5 weeks and will finish top 4 in my opinion.

When they were at their lowest point, they Beat us convincingly on the MCG.

That was the first crack appearing in this season, it’s mostly above the shoulders….

Not for next week but is Jefferson closing in on a debut?

4 goals/8 marks today which would make that his second or third haul of goals for the year.

I’d imagine Brisbane will go all out offence and engage in a shoot out, given we can’t score 80 these days, and they can score 100 in their sleep.

no - think of this year as jvr's first year; let him develop and gain fitness and exposure in vfl before a big preseason in the gym and he should hit the ground running in 2025

based on the casey game i personally would drop bowey for moniz-wakefield, but otherwise it should just be lever for tomlinson as the only change

I'd give him a crack sooner rather than later. Surely Petty doesn't have many chances left, unless they decide to put him back and put McDonald up forward.

Chandler is one of our best pressure players, 8 tackles is a great return. No chance he is dropped.

At least someone gets it.

No chance. Well picked up on. He’s a good player Chandler and his second efforts are why he’s in the side, and will remain.

Any worries about Salem? Goodwin said he was subbed off after some knee soreness I think. He looked a bit proppy in the third.

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.
