We are so clearly down an experienced midfield rotation, especially with Oliver’s prep.

Gus was a huge loss.

Still think we'll make game of this. It's been a [censored] show thus far, but we'll get to see what our leaders are made of in the second half.

Give up and go home/turn the game off. Not worth it for your mental health.

It's a long season but a winless finals exit sure looks on the cards again.

I am selling very special bath water gin for $98 a bottle if anyone is interested

It staggers my mind in a multi billion dollar enterprise one key component - umpiring - can be so bad

Where is the accountability

I know it's hard to umpire but [censored]

I better say "We'll win it" now so I can drag up the post again later if it happens.

This is the most pathetic forward 50 display I’ve ever seen.

Billings - 4 touches

Fritsch - 3 touches

Petty - 1 touch

Pickett - 1 touch

JVR - 7 touches and not one in our 50

Inside 50s - 28 to 20 our way, and not a single score from any of them.

The ball is being walked out. Everyone else is pulling their weight. No matter how good your midfield and defence is you can’t counter the ball being rebounded out so quickly.

5 goals down

After inept footy for 2 quarters. Get our chit together this quarter were back in the game

Curnow skill error. Out of bounds. Nothing.

Cripps throws the footy.  Nothing.

its criminal.  Umps are clearly instructed to favour Carlton.  Clearly.

They've been instructed by the powers that be.

It's Blind Freddy and friends out there in Green.

It shows what Windsor will do for us in a few years time. For now. It exposes Oliver lack of fitness.

Clarry having a stinker. 4 Clangers. 3 absolute up and under kicks to no one.

Yes, you would swear that their superannuation has just received a boost.

However, Hanlon’s razor is probably at work:

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Absolute gold

Umpires cannot be blamed for that half

when you are second to the ball and not playing in front you get what you deserve

5 day break cannot be blamed either. Tiredness does not mean you kick to Weitering and McGovern over and over

Trac stood up that Q. ANB and Windsor did pretty well

Our fwd line cannot function with the pathetic service they are getting

If that happens, coaching staff will be under heavy duress and questioning.

We just don’t have an in form midfielder unfortunately

Well a couple of Carlton fans just got engaged on the big screen while Love Story by Taylor Swift was playing.
So…. Ummm… yeah

Tall forwards getting outnumbered, that’s a work rate problem from our small forwards.

Our delivery is pretty poor inside 50.

Umps aren’t great, but they aren’t the cause of our problems. How about moving the ball aggressively?

A couple of match ups that seem to be exposing us big time …. Weitering  on petty and clarry on Cripps  (or don’t seems on the tv)

Can anyone else decipher why when the ball hits the deck inside our forward 50 there seems to 4 carlton players immediately on top of it yet it seems more like 1 on 1s when its in our d50, if we cant retain the entries, we're not going to challenge at all.

Also can our midfield please get to work, Brisbane game we got smashed out of the centre and from memory the sydney game was a centre clearance demolition. amazing (or maybe it isnt amazing) how much rests on how effective your mids are at the contest.

For christ sake drag Weitering away from the play, forwards move around instead of standing still and dragging your player with you, still cannot believe Stafford is in charge of the forward line.

And this is meant to be umpire appreciation round, screw me sideways AFL.

Mediocre officiating to benefit one club.

Forwards completely smashed - almost zero possessions between them - so the ball is just coming straight out again. Weitering on Petty especially.

Putrid first half.  Lucky to only be 5 goals down.

We can get back from this, but not if we continue to let them play it on their terms

Goody needs to seriously shake them up

Fritta really needs to lift. Petty has gone back to playing bad footy.

What is it with Thursday night games and our capacity not to play well

this is because we haven’t hit a target inside 50 all game

hard to pressure the ball when we kick direct to them

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
