Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

If we're half serious we should be winning this one by 6+ goals with all their injuries. They have an obscene injury list at the moment.

All the more reason to rest Oliver if his hand is not quite right.  We need him going at 100%

With Balta, Prestia, Lynch, Taranto, Ross, Graham and possibly Grimes, amongst others all out, given reasonable conditions not only will be get back on track but a 6-8 goal should be par. Whilst others may consider the last quarter 'junk time goals' I was very pleased with the effort, reducing what could have been a 70+ point walloping and conserving all important percentage. Really loved May's desperate lunge to touch the ball off Cameron's boot with seemingly little to gain. Kossie will be back and with confidence gained we will beat the Cats the following week also.

So we’re now down Bowey and Salem. Personally I don’t see Salem offering much anymore. He’s an injury away from another injury. Bowey we need and then we hope Hore can reach the output. Early signs were promising. We’ve now lost Gus and Salem, they’re big big holes to fill. Howes is showing early good signs but who’s replacing Gus?

As he's injured again I don't see him offering much......I was pretty upbeat on him prior to the season so see him as a loss, whether that's because of injury or form doesn't matter.

Hunter will play half back, in for Salem
Pickett in for Brown
May as well keep Tholstrup, that game was no environment for a successful debut, give him another crack. They may be tempted to bring in McAdam for him if he's ready, though.

Only one is this Sat against Port.  A bye the following week.  The AFL have completely torched the VFL scheduling and comp.

Bowey approx four weeks but might be one or two more if there's any setbacks and/or he may need a week or two to build up his tank via Casey.

Have they torched it or more likely there is no revenue in it so they DGAF?

Last time i looked they were the ones in charge of proceedings Mono.

Surely a healthy VFL means there is potential pathways for additional players to be developed and ply their craft which might lead to some additional talent feeding through to the AFL and possibly enhance that level of the game and hence the AFL's coffers?

While i understand they don't wish to spend hundreds of millions on its up keep or expansion.

Wouldn't it make sense to at least foster that league ensuring it grows, expands its audience/attractiveness of facilities somewhat and continues to slowly improve?

I think there’s a typo there. BBB out. Hore in. Agree. BBB cooked.

This is BBB every year. He cannot string games together and clearly his body gets sore after a few weeks. He needs to be managed much better to get the full impact from him over the season. The Dees need to me more proactive in his management.

The sad fact of AFL success is the element of just sheer bad luck/ good luck.

Yea sure one can have great depth to try and counter injury fall out, sometimes it is so significant that it's almost impossible to cover.

Last year was a case in point we had so many players especially high grade ones hit with injuries.

Especially our fwd line.

This year sadly isn't tracking too well either.

Starting with Gus out for good, every game we have lost someone due to injury.

We have lost Bowey, May, Petty, Oliver, Salo, Spargo and Kozzie from suspension.

That's a fair whack so early in the season.

Im afraid you don’t win a flag with 23 players - it takes a squad of at least 30 serviceable AFL players throughout the season.

I do agree you can  get injuries at the wrong time of the header ie 2022 finals.

The only chance we have to win it this year is if we have a fully fit and firing best 23-25 to pick from. Last year was a massive missed opportunity and with more competitive sides this year a good injury run is essential. Personally I think we need McAdam playing some good footy and Oliver needs to return to full fitness although I fear that may not happen until next season. If we can’t finish top 4 we’re cooked.

I’m feeling a Jack Viney special against the Tigs. Our contested ball numbers and clearances aren’t up to our normal level and he will do something to compensate.

I’d love Trac to tear a game apart too. He still has another gear to go.

On the negative side, I’ve come to the sad conclusion that van Rooyan is not a great mark. I gave him pass marks previously but the double grabbing and inability to win the big contested marks has worn me down. Please prove me wrong JVR….

How far away is McAdam really?

At training last Wednesday I heard him tell a group of indigenous kids visiting from Alice that he feels 100% ready but he’s been told he’s still “a week or two away.”

Bad timing for these kids who were really looking forward to watching Kozzie play, and were hoping to watch Smacca play, too. But I don’t feel bad for them coming to watch this particular game since none of them are Dees fans. Moreover, several of them are Lions fans 😅

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
