Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Spargo and Turner were in rehab group but didn’t do much.

AMW told me he hopes to play this week. Also said he thought we would challenge Kossie’s ban.

Richo was interviewed on the mic by robbo at the punt road end goals and said his morning involved looking at what to do about Kozzie and chances of getting it to low impact. Gave me the impression they weren't that optimistic but that doesnt mean they won't try

Reckon the Fogarty grading will be instructive.

Not such a good morning, weather wise. As I arrived, it starting raining, settled into watching some Victory players have a kick around.

The MFC squad come out as the rain abated, they had wide smiles as the walked down the roped corridor. Plenty of joy from the supporters towards them, kids everywhere, maybe about 500 to a 1000 of us.

Rehab/light duties, Hunter, BBB, TMac, McAdam, Bowey, Chandler, Melky, Sestan, AMW, Spargo, Turner.

Chandler was doing enough running to suggest he will be right.

I expected Hunter to be in the main group, must have had a setback.

Looks like they are working on the fitness of Sestan.

BBB and TMac are managed, no obvious hindrances, and the easy recovery run is usual for them.

A surprise with AMW, just as we were suggesting he is nearly ready, he goes into rehab. I couldn't tell what the problem was.

No Hore.

They split into three stations, short kicking, a kind of soccer competition of kicking the ball down the field with finesse from outside the line, and a structured handball game.

Down came the rain again for 5 minutes and then cleared.

They did some structured sims. Coaches would move the ball from the forward line and set a high mark for a backman who would slingshot it off via spread and/or corridor it with links, to either a marking forward or to a forward that brings the ball front and centre. may was moving well.

They had a couple of meetings in the middle.

Finally, they head to the boundary for extensive signings.

Great atmosphere.

Please, who is AMW??

Spargo was there…was in the navy jumper, not the red like the main group

Was hard to tell who was rehabbing because some were wearing the navy but others like McAdam were wearing the red.

A great day was had by our crew and an impressive crowd turnout (especially considering the weather)! Thanks to the Demon Army for their efforts, it was an impressive setup all-round.

My son was absolutely stoked to get some signatures and a few photos!

Seemed to be quite a light session. Wouldn’t rule out those not completing a full session.

spoke to Maysie, he admitted his body was fairly sore. Incredible that he is playing through that much pain.

a kid asked Oliver if he was playing this week. He was taken aback by it. As if he had no idea why he’d be asked the question. So, I assume we can lock him in.

one whack for the Club though - there was a designated 10 + year members area. It wouldn’t have been in a worse spot. On a slope with little vantage at all. At the end, when plyers came to sign, Max didn’t even make his way over to that area. Given that it was described as an exclusive area for our loyalist members, it seemed that MFC staff had no coordination of what was going on.

WCW, the snags were beautifully cooked.

Yes agree on the 10+ year area. Too crowded and poor visibility. I chose to go elsewhere on the fence. Were there any of the briefings from MFC coaching staff as promised in the email?

Was that @WalkingCivilWar taking the money? I should’ve said hi, whilst making her go back and forth for the Pepsi Max!

Maybe we should have a designated Demonland area for those wishing to say hello?

Yes, you should’ve! I’m always happy to meet fellow DL-ers ❤️💙

Thank you for supporting us this morning, very much appreciated. The same goes to everyone else who came to sample our fare.

We did really well, so much better than we expected given the weather forecast. Even the couple of random showers didn’t deter folks in the queue… Dees fans are made of tough stuff 👊🏼

That area is the usual gathering place for spectators. They probably didn't expect the big numbers, so many of the 10+ end up down the slope if no place on the fence. Best place to watch those right footers kicking goals from the boundary at the end of the session.

Would assume the players had no idea that area was for the 10+ consecutive year members.

The area on the other side of the sheds is flatter, central, and probably more suitable to the large 10+ group. Would also give punters access to the players on the walk back to AAMI.

One of the coaches had a chat to Robbo on the loud speaker in the marketing area, probably only those close could hear the banter.

Give the club a heads up, @Kick_It_To_Pickett and your good self.

Mate and I got there at 11am, only to hear over the loud speaker that they wouldn't be starting training until 11:45am. So we snuck off to the pub, came back at 12:15pm to find all the players wrapping it up and leaving. Email didn't say anything about it being a 30 min training sesh. Totally our bad for coming back late, but it was pretty disappointing that it was so short, especially when the invite said "11am-1:30pm" with no specific schedule.

They showed a schedule on the website.

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/teams/training-times

Strange they couldn't include it on the email invitation, as it had been there for sometime.

11:00am: Event open to public

11:45am - 12:15pm: team training

12:15pm - 12:45pm: players signing along the fence

12:45pm - 1:30pm: Field open to the public for K2K

1:30pm: event ends

Yep it seems that I missed that, but might have been a good idea to send an email out with an updated schedule to all those who were originally emailed too. As clearly, we missed that info and completely missed the training session. If you say training is 11am-1:30pm, it is fair to say people might interpret that literally.

Quote from  @Tim.

"Casey played a praccy match against Carlton at Princes Park on Friday evening. Lachie Hunter played and Taj got some more miles into his legs after his brief Adelaide cameo on Thursday night. Sestan not playing.

Kynan Brown was excellent, as too was the Kolt. Taj and Bill were also good."

No setback, they got a game into Hunter, and were giving him light duties.

Sounds like Sestan has the setback, and being in rehab was not fitness related. At least he was running plenty of K's.

Agree, old man calves. Difficult to get right.

Same as the Spargo achilles. Why did they play him early in the season without a build-up?

Does leave questions about the trainers ability and judgement.

Chandler was  clearly in some discomfort. Walking, sometimes limping and under observation by two physios. He was not hiding it and at one point was heard to say "that doesn't hurt as much". Right knee strapped from thigh to mid-calf.

Melky fielded a few questions and suggested he was a couple of months away. Feeling very good. Was kicking sweetly both sides with his rehab group.

Was McAdam training at all?

I didn't have a good view of the rehab/light duties area, what I saw, McAdam was doing some easy ball work with the others. In previous sessions he had a personal program and was running by himself, although last time I saw him he did do some drills with the main group.

He was in his normal training attire, and not the rehab shirt.

I haven't seen him do a flat out sprint. Until that can be done, I assume he is not ready to go.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
