No change (unless for injury). Don't drop Sparrow after one quiet game, but think about who the sub should be. If Woey isn't in the 22, play him in the VFL (and make Laurie the sub or AMW or Kynan Brown))
Petty to be given another run in VFL.
Tholstrop to play in VFL next week (after missing out on any games this week). We're playing Sunday in the VFL so he can still be an emergency.(When we go to Adelaide, we'll be taking a squad for the 2 games, so I imagine Thosltrop will be taken in the squad, so give him, Petty & Woey  a VFL game next week.)

Added more options for next week's sub

In MonizXX factor, out Woey,( needs full game) only change! Petty was shizzen yesterday no kicks, accidental touches no chance of a call up IMV

No Change next week

Gus Brayshaw should spend most of his time next week with Tom Sparrow

I don't think any changes but Petty in is tempting. Play Brown for 1 more week and then bring petty in for Adelaide games.

Take Petty to Adelaide - spend a week there and he may decide he has seen it all and wants to stay in Melbourne.

Any updates on Lever's leg?  He was hobbling a bit (?calf or ankle?) at the end and after the game.

Just cramping allegedly.

I feel for Rosas. It was until all those Covid warnings that I realised how often I make contact with my head.

May be worthwhile resting Windsor for a week, and take the opportunity to blood another young player, before the big games start.

Looked like cramp according to the trainers course of action.

What is this 'suspended for making contact with his head' business with Rosas?

And why didn't it apply to Maynard pushing his head into Viney's face?

he’ll have two weeks there shortly

rounds 3 n 4

Geez this place bounces wildly back and forth on Sparrow. I said this after the 2021 grand final and I'll say it again now. He's a great role player who has limitations with his disposal but absolutely busts his backside and always cracks in hard.

He had 0 CBAs today so naturally his disposals are down. 6 score involvements is solid work though.

And his effort is all over the tracker sheet. 2nd in sprint distance. 2nd in average speed. 4th in total sprints. 2nd in average speed in attack.

Stop with this madness that he'd get dropped for a kid.

Petty in for Brown for mine: time to settle our best forward line in, and while Ben was decent he was playing on a flanker. I think JVR+Petty is our best tall forward setup this season

Haven’t seen the full game so I’m surprised to see he had no CBAs. Is that just us making room for Pickett and Salem?

When Oliver, Trac and Viney are all having dominant games it's hard for our next midfielder to rack up a lot of disposals. They can't all get it at once!!! Sparrow stays in.

This fascination of change for changes sake (or to appease our curiosity - "the grass is always greener on the otherside of the fence" approach), is not conducive to strong team culture. A strong team culture builds belief and confidence - which is crucial for players to be in form.

Do you mean petty performance in vfl?

Expand. Is he out of touch do you think etc and needs a few weeks?

Thanks

Spot on. Leave sparrow alone

He gets full marks for endeavour. Excellent gf contributions. Not everyone is a clarry or trac. He stays imo

We just had a very solid win.

Goody does not change the lineup if we win well.   No changes,

perhaps a small tinkering with the substitution player. And emergency group.

No change for me please.

Sparrow didn't fire but did anyone else shine enough at Casey to replace him?

He's a big body that is hard to match up on.

BBB straightened us up = he doesn't go out.

By all accounts Petty wasn’t up to form in the VFL practice game, and BBB did a great job (yes maybe on a NQR opponent) so why in the world make that change, yet ??

Might have gotten off if he didn't kick him on the way through, thats just dumb.

I nominated you @dl4e as 'Land's representative into the FD.

Definitely need another win here.

I personally don't rate Hawthorn and we have two horrible games in Adelaide coming up

 Both against Adelaide based clubs.

Ot had to be us. Grrrr. Probably part of some nonsense deal to get us out of Kardinia since the Korean war.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
