Stuff all besides the cap space it'll open up

I’m not sure about that. If a player is contracted and retires as far as I’m aware his salary is still part of the TPP. Possibly the reason both TMac and BBB are going around again.

Nothing, we were the ones that signed him on a long term deal knowing he could be done at any moment.

Medical retirement should mean Gus is taken care of by the league and not salary cap.

The only other thing we should’ve got / should get is access to a replacement player by the SSP.

It’s crazy to have the deadline last week and Gus announced now. Provision should be made for medical retirements before the first bounce of the season proper.

Brayshaw is a young man with a uni degree. He's retiring from footy not life.. He'll get a well paid MonFri job easily. Why compensation?Ā  For what?

AFL/tribunal found Maynards act was legal.

Case closed. Its disgusting what happened but no-one in the AFL cares.

Brayshaw knew the risks but underestimated Collingwood.

I believe Brayshaw was set up in the QF. Maynard elevated himself straight at Brayshaws head.

CEO tricky Gil hid under his desk that week. Maynatd was always getting off.

Its all over now.

Agnus is worth minimum 16 first round picks.Ā

I regrettfully agree we'll get bugger-all out of the AFL - a list spot if we are lucky.Ā  On a more general note, surely the AFL in introducing a new rule after the Maynard 'incident' is essentailly admitting some sort of liability.

Frankly my dear I couldn't give a damn what Maynard thinks about anything. I have a strong view about the reckless intent of that incident. I'm not going to discuss it any further.Ā

Can we request Maynard to be dressed in sackcloth and walked through the streets whilst people throw fruit at him and hurl abuse?

Or take him for a trip to Romsey Manor for a mushroom lunch prepared by Uncle bitters

Now unfortunately we essentially have two unused spots on our list

Really 3, B Brown is cooked as well

We should be able to add someone to the list for this year.

I always thought it was a pregame set up to take Gus out knowing how important he was to our set up

I presume it opens us up for mid season selections - most likely for #10 and #29

Mid year selections,Ā  Ā  JT should get another helper sign the very best young talent, before next years draft, We will not be competing against all the other clubsĀ  Ā not all will have spaces.

No doubt The Filth took out Angus in that game

Premeditated plan executedĀ

They all loved it

These are the [censored] called CollingwoodĀ

Young Demons may now understand how much they must be despised and Hated for eternityĀ

Don’t get me started on The AFL

If he had retired at the end of last season then I think the MFC would have retained Harmes.

Zero compensation.Ā

Missed the SPP deadline by a few days unfortunately.Ā

Different rules for medical retirements and additional special rules for concussion

Not much use getting a top up player now in the sense that there would be few with the required quality or match fitness available. If there were I think the AFL would look favourably

We should be able to access a RFA without the matching process.

It’s only fair that Freo should be made to give us his brother.Ā

Agree 100% and this is why I’m imposing a media ban on myself for season 24. I will come here and listen to the DL pod and that’s it.

The profound lack of courage by the tribunal to suspend Maynard and the subsequent hypocrisy of the afl to outlaw the act were the final straw. And now the salivating of the populist media over the Joel smith debacle… I can do without the angst.

Far more likely we would have kept James Jordon IMO

When and how can that be activated?

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. Ā We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's Ā six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.Ā
