After 167 games including the drought breaking Premiership Angus Brayshaw has made the heart breaking decision to medically retire from football as a result of a series of serious head knocks over his nearly decade of footy. We wish Gus all the best and he'll always be a hero at Demonland.

Sue the AFL,

The lack of action on the Maynard incident is messed up.

Sue the thug, [censored] Maynard btw.

We're cooked

Sorry for Gus

Theory - the angry spirit of Norm Smith had no jurisdiction in WA but now he is back with vengeance.

Devastating for Gus.

We’ve taken some hits over the last 6 months with all the issues, however this one will have a lasting effect on the team for 2024

So sad but it's probably for the best for his health.

An Integral part of 2021.

Deleted and re-written a few things about Maynard but hopefully this thread can focus on Gus' positive impact on the field for us.

All the best to you Gus, thanks for your service and that memorable 3rd quarter in GF2021.

Love Ya!!!

Bummer

It's probably the right call but I'm sure it was a hard one.

As much as I want to call a certain somedog out, I think most of all I want to say thankyou Gus for your commitment, dedication and passion you gave to our club.

Best of luck with all your future endeavours mate.

Oh dear. Curse of Norm Smith has reared it's ugly head again ever since Gus was knocked out last. Go away Norm you [censored]!

Thanks Gus, you absolute legend!

Hope he’s ok, “enjoy your life lad”.

Thank you Gus, your on field leadership and courage will be sorely missed.

Best call for his long term health. But really sucks from a team perspective. In our top 5-6 must important and best players.

Dark day for the the Dee's and the AFL in general. That Maynard hit has ended his career and the AFL ticked it off as ok.

Moving the incident from the finals to one side, this is a sad way to end your career but a great call.

He provided some of my fondest highlights in 2021. His set shot in the GF was laser like.

Enjoy the additional opportunities to hit the golf course Gus and thanks!

now i’m REALLY [censored] [censored] at Maynard

he hadnt had a concussion in over 5 years

Love you Gus. must be so hard

Lets see if Collingwoods media team kicks another own goal and lets Maynard attempt to wish Brayshaw all the best. After the netball repurposing, it's certainly something that they are stupid enough to do.

..... Seriously though, if he comes out to say anything publicly, I'll do my nut.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
