Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

I am just pleased as punch.  That that man is back in training.   And he is smiling at onlookers.   I don’t care whether he is a touch over weight or under done.
he is back, smiling, and with his club mates.

our window has just opened wider again.

How is Clarry interacting with the players?

I thought they were quite subdued. Appeared to be giving him plenty of space. Perhaps they said welcome back, in the sheds. There were some individual chats going on with him.

As he was running with Salem they were chatting away.

Yes, I saw this post on one of my regular fortnightly visits to Concord Hospital here in Sydney… a great spirit lifter!

Think a lot of people a reading into players "resting or going to rehab"

How often in these reports are players joining the "rehab" group only to be fully training again the next week or even later in the training session.

It's work loads and management, the same thing was happening this time last year and everyone was carrying on then.  If in 3 weeks we are still managing players, then you worry!

Have seen some recent photos of Harrison Petty at training, to me he looks like he's put on some upper body size??

Yes can confirm Dazz, from what I have witnessed he definately looks bigger and dare I say it very very solid!

Thanks Pickett.

Just hope the extra weight doesn't put enormous stress on his foot.

Yep agree, I might be able to attend at Casey this Friday and if so, will update his scenario!

Pickett, do they practice 6 forwards and backmen plus midielders as in flooding the forward line and getting the forwards to find space and separate till they can find someone and i'm not talking about match sim just using the half forward line only.

Plenty out early, Rucks all drilling together, a few of the smalls drilling fast steps and shimmies around mannequins. Many are goal kicking. Tomlinson and TMac drilling together.

No Sparrow.

Rehab include, Petty doing mainly bike work, Melksham strolling around, Fullaton exercising with a trainer, BBB and Hunter very light duties. Jefferson training with an assistant.  Starting numbers of full training was about 31 players, no run-ons (Yze, Mentha).

We ended with about 27, 28 fully fit players. A bit of a worry given we are 5 weeks out. Viney was tackled between a player and the ground, shorts were ripped on one side, and he was limping. Kept playing, then left for some run throughs but couldn't complete them. Cork to the hip, I reckon. May ran some laps, as did Salem, who partnered Clarry in numerous laps. McAdam had some laps, though returned to the sim. Hore ran laps before the end of sims. Verral seems to have a running program going, fitness I reckon.

Warms ups were the same as usual, 3 stations, one funny walk, the other handballs and third was short kicks. They then do some run throughs, Tholstrup putting in more than the others.

They then go to more dynamic kicking drills, one precision, one lead to long kick to behind the player. A third was also used, (didn't observe well). They were boisterous, and playfully in the approach to each other.

Off to the handball games, which became interspersed with the sims.

They were still running many players through the on-ballers, Spargo, Billings, Bowey, Laurie, Viney, Gus, Tracc. The wings had some young players, K.Brown, Windsor, Woey, as well as Langdon there. At one stage they put Tholstrup down back up against Rivers who was forward. Jed Adams was looking good. Spargo ran the legs off the others, Kossie was playing a little selfish, Howes kicking was elite a few times. McAdams loves getting out the back for a goal. JVR holding some marks and getting on the lead. Fritta is back.

The quote of 27 fit players made me decide to put a list of who we haven't got from last year.   That is who is in or out of rehab, injured, missing, retired or transferred out from the players that played last year, or reasonably expected to play this year

Forwards - Fritsch, Brown, Jefferson, Petty (in defence list as well), Smith, Fullarton, Melksham, McAdam

Mids - Hunter, Sparrow, Grundy, Clarrie, Jordon, Billings, Brayshaw

Backs - May, Lever, Petty, Salem, Hibberd

That's nearly a whole side and I might have missed a couple who came back late after off season surgery .

Sorry Stinga totally confused list with JJ and Grundy still listed but Harmes not and Hibbard retired but listed still.

To be frank all we are focused on are the 44 that have received jumper no’s for 2024.

Of course we wish some old favourites well at their new clubs and hope Hibbo enjoys his new club at the lower level.

Yes it appears that they are practicing a similar scenario of "Escapism" from forwards defence pressing and maintaining space AND territory

Just my observation as the players entered the field, on Wednesday. I am not going to write stuff that fits an agenda. Others watchers at training could have responded to the question about the players group interactions with him, from the Jackson FIX. How is Clarry interacting with the players?

An observation is easy to understand, or perhaps I missed stuff.

Oliver was one of the first ones out there, and none made a beeline towards him other than Goody.

My guess is they wanted his return to be low key, or/and welcomes were done in the sheds.

I would assume that most welcome backs were done in the change rooms. The Goody interaction might have occurred on the field because Goody might not have been in the change rooms with the players.

In Robbo’s article it said Clarrie returned to the group on Tuesday at Casey. That helps explain the response on Wednesday.  Kev’s observation was quite right, very low key response on Wednesday.

Clarry returned to the club privately late last week to discuss navigating the aus day long weekend and set out plans for training Wednesday when the cameras would be out.

Richo was filmed Tuesday afternoon for the pre-season update.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
