Thanks AFL - absolutely p155weak.

I was enthused about this finals series but you can GAGF.

Zero integrity - corruption rules.

Gill wants a Collingwood v Carlton GF as his farewell, and he will stop at nothing to see that happen.

In good news, Carlton are trying to get Jack Martin down to 1 week rather than cleared altogether.

That will be good for their round 1, 2024 side.

I suspect we've all watched a lot of football over the years. With that people have seen a lot of smothers executed. Lets say on average there has been say 5 smothers a game. Thats over 1000 smothers in a football year.

Has anyone ever in their life of watching football seen an attempted smother end with a bloke knocked unconscious for 2 minutes. Serious question. I've seen some great goal saving smothers. Ones where the smotherer has got kicked or hit with the footy and everyone refers to the players bravery. Sometimes the kicker gets a sore foot or corky as their kicking action gets impeded. Ones where the player gets a fingertip to the ball and turns a goal into a point.

Just a couple of points here. Brayden did none of these. He didn't touch the ball. But he didn't miss Brayshaw. Plan B was executed perfectly. People have mimicked what Brayden said on the night that it was a "football act". But in all my hours of watching football I've never seen this before.

Conclusion. This wasn't a "football act". It was thuggery. Pure and simple.

The worst part is next week when Collingwood take to the field he, Maynard, will get clapped and cheered every time he goes near the ball. For the thuggery he commited.

Terrible AFL, I mean what an outcome.

Of course he will get cheered by them he won the game for them against us by taking out Gus, so why would then not be hoping for a replay of that after what could they do to him.

Afl hidden agenda, makes a mockery of the match review as they took the deciding process away. A guilty verdict would have meant an appeal & would have suffocated the finals.

Once again, I don’t agree with this decision but I’m not on here spewing bile about wishing injury on other players.

Take 48 hours and see if you feel the same as I know for a fact that many of you would decry this kind of rhetoric from other fans so it’s pretty frustrating that we don’t hold ourselves to the standards of others.

I have been angry since Friday night

Another 48 hours will make no difference.
We were a man down, 1 minute into a Final and it’s all Angus’ fault

It’s “on”

Has anyone on here read the findings. This line.

Brayshaw could’ve executed his kick in a different direction or in a different manner, landed in a different manner or in a slightly different location.

It was just self defence

Gee, all this stuff from posters that we are going to get tough and hurt players because Maynard got off is laughable. Who in the hell from our team other than Viney will show any aggression. Fritta maybe ? Your joking. He doesn't even spoil Quaynor or block a player in the goal line when a goal was imminent. We haven't a hard nosed player in this team other than Viney and even he can't come up against the likes of Maynard. Maybe we can turn to Langdon, Chandler, Laurie, Spargo, BBB and the likes. Wouldn't worry me and I'm 70 odd.

Let's all just get back to reality and hope in hell we can bring our A game on Friday and live another day. Just maybe a win then another against the Lions and get the Pies in the GF and the just play the ball and win. Wouldn't that be nice!. Firstly we have the Blues to get over.

Any potential appeal aside, if we don’t come out and steamroll the Blues (on the scoreboard, of course, because we won’t get any favours at the tribunal) on Friday so we can then have a chance to play the Pies in the GF then we’ll never have enough motivation because even last year’s straight sets exit wasn’t enough to come out breathing fire on Thursday.

We have to do this. Only way we get any justice is we make it to the GF and smash the pies. And Gus is there, holding up the cup, and grinning from ear to ear, right at the Collingwood army.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, it's really not this simple mate. There is another team that will be hunting the ball and probably executing their kicks better. Being fired up about a tribunal ruling is a short way to emotional exhaustion. It can be used as a factor, but ultimately the team that plays better footy will win. Not the team most fired up.

The victim blaming is SO pathetic that I truly hope that if Gus does choose to retire that in a press conference he says that the AFL left him no choice. They have done nothing to ensure I am protected from cheap shots by pure thugs. And since they won’t protect me I have to protect myself.  See you in court.

I actually think that if Gus decides to continue playing, the club will discourage him from doing so. I can't imagine how everyone would feel if Gus decided to play on and in 2024 happens to take another hit (no matter how small). At some stage one needs to err on the side of caution, not go in with fingers crossed.

I spoke to Troy Simmons about this 2 weeks ago. He said Long would get 12 weeks if he did that now. Most importantly he is in fine nick and looks fit enough to play for the Dees today. Troy goes to the same gym - nice bloke.

On that day I was 15 metres from where it happened and I was ready to run onto the ground. I thought he could be paralysed.

I met Long years later at a horse sale and was introduced to him.

I told him I liked him as a player but that it was the worst act I had ever seen on a footy field and he agreed.

I interpret it as, solely attacking the ball (give no consciousness to anything else). Do that and collateral all over the place, and no consequences to self.

No it has to include the jump Kev assuming oppo player is in the act of / or has already completed the kick (just).

The AFL has now comfirmed that provided you are 'making an attempt' to smother, you are entitled to protect yourself by tucking up on the way down and leading with either shoulder.

This is now acceptable and how you protect yourself from an oncoming likely collision.

The consequence of doing so is now a moot point that no player needs to concern themselves with.

Just throw the arms in the air then tuck straight afterwards and shoulder away.

Every kicker is now fair game.

If we don’t happen to get through to the GF and win it , it is as simple as ABC

Agree, if it can't be us, it sure in buggery can't be Collingwood.  Never could be, but even more so now.  Filthy, putrid, arrogant pies.  Loose by an incorrect score review, a player injuring themselves in the dying seconds, an earthquake swallowing up the turf.  I don't care.  Just make it as painful as all hell for that club and their disgusting disciples.

You don’t just hide under tables hoping the big bad Collingwood fans don’t get annoyed

Seriously? Do you know what I think I just expected him to be cleared.

My anger is more directed at what the ferals wrote on social media about Melbourne, our supporters, about Angus, Goody & Angus's family

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
