That's a huge blow for the pies but at least we won't have to hear the media go on about him now.

Oh no.. it will be a weekly if not daily injury watch

Holy moly, the pies( team of the century) season is starting to unravel a bit.

Let’s see how they adapt without their key ball winner.

Note: we’ve been without our key ball winner for a couple of months now and we’ve been ok…over to you McRae!

Shame about Daicos. He’s actually a really likable player and carries himself well for a young guy. Not his fault he’s so damn good and the media obsess over him.

Will it hurt Collingwood much? Time will tell. I remember thinking the sky was falling when Clarry went down and that was before it was 12+ weeks! But we found a way. I suspect Collingwood will be similar.

With 8 weeks until the Grand Final, loading now makes more sense for outright performance than the Bye round.

The problem is how teams manage winning games as well. Collingwood could have done some extra work at the bye week or leading into it and going again now with a good buffer at the top of the ladder.

Loading and tapering is (hopefully) a linear process. It’s not something you do once and you’re done. Otherwise a preseason would only be 4-6 weeks long. Ideally you are building up, backing off (recovering/tapering) building up higher again, backing off and so on.

In any other sport, the taper would begin the week of your event/tournament, possibly a fortnight before depending on discipline, because that form post-tapering doesn’t last forever. Definitely not for 8 entire weeks until a Grand Final

This is going to play havoc with their game plan!

Their game plan is essentially give it to Nick and run. So yep! Hope they fall apart.

6 weekends has him returning for prelim final.

And it's a fracture in his knee, so my gut says he'll struggle to keep his fitness loads up during that time. For a first year player, that could be quite a drop off.

Im concerned about Fritsch coming straight into finals without a match type run around. This is very worrying for the Pies as he has by far been their most important player this year (leading disposals, meters gained, score involvements, and 5th for goals amongst other stats).

Six weeks....

Prelim final return

My guess is that they're conservative and he'll be back a week earlier if needed

The Pies will almost certainly have a home QF final against Brisbane or Port (unless we slip up) so I can see them not playing Nick (after him being 5 weeks on the sidelines)

But a lot depends on the 6 weeks forecast.  Is that accurate? Or approximately?

McRae's press conference was par for the course. He's always a little twitchy, it's just his way. You're all just looking for cracks way too hard.

Pies players were laughing on the bench with 30 seconds to go. This won't hurt them - I'm in zero doubt they're loading, for no other reason than they can afford to. Top spot is theirs. They know they've beaten anyone on their day and can win from 5 goals down consistently.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but they're absolutely primed and this loss is doing nothing other than enhancing their priming.

Will be beyond surprised if they don't make the grand final.

I've been buying Collingwood stock but a bit of gloss has progressively gone off in the last 3 weeks, they were lucky against Port who are no great shakes themselves at present.

Maybe they are loading, but top spot isn't exactly locked in, if they lose to Geelong and Brisbane, it's possible all of the top 4 finish on 68 points.

Curnow and  Cripps say HI !

Even Essendon will likely get more media than us..

Good.

That legitimately sucks for Daicos, but his career will have a lot more opportunities.

Murphy 2-3 with a foot injury is a concern at this time of year too. Feet are very hard to get right. That means Moore has to do a lot more one on one work. Changes their structure a fair bit.

We needed Pies to beat a few of the teams around us. It gets harder now and then we play 3 teams in good form the last 3 games.

Win all of our games left in H and A and if no injuries, we will be 2nd and cherry ripe, for a flag tilt.

I’ve had a knee fracture and 15 years later I’m still not back to peak fitness 😂

The media has created a situation where this poor kid can’t win. They made us all believe he’s the best player on planet earth and not in fact a 20 year old in his second season who is bound to have poor games.
I feel bad for him. Pies will need to manage his mental well being carefully

Just announced that he is out for 6 weeks due to a knee injury. Only possibly back on Prelim weekend. That will knock them real bad.

He isn't a key ball winner, I actually think that's where he is the worst, he's an elite user and they run the ball through him.
