Mach5 4,768 Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Has some good long penetrating kicking, but so far is proving to be a good ordinary footballer. You need some of those, but I think we’ve probably got a few spares in that regard. Shame cos he seems like a good kid. Hope he gets a fat contract elsewhere. Quote

Dee-licious 1,954 Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Goody has been on the record saying he wants JJ at the club. It is opportunity (and contract length / $$$). I cant argue with him wanting to go for opportunity. He has been great at the Dees, he will be better somewhere else where he is one of the big 3. 2 Quote
Demonland 74,430 Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 Fair enough. Rightly or wrongly we couldn't offer him game time. He would be a walk up start in most teams. Sorry to see him go. 10 Quote
adonski 13,267 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 I'm in the minority but I thought he was great in 22' on the wing Reckon that's his best spot 7 Quote
McQueen 17,867 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 The greatest travesty of his time at the club was not running onto Optus stadium in the GF when it was in the bag. I understand the ethics from the ‘game rules’ side of things but how about at a personal level? I very much doubt the AFL would’ve stopped it….. 😬 21 1 Quote
MadAsHell 4,217 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Very sad to see him go. I rated Jordon. Was coming 4th in our B&F after Round 18 last year. 10 Quote
Demons11 7,148 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 (edited) Geeze we are going to have some turnover this year. Casey are going to struggle next year Edited September 19, 2023 by Demons11 6 Quote

Jaded No More 68,976 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 All the best to JJ. From rookie to playing a role in our premiership year. 7 Quote
whatwhat say what 23,854 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 i believe he only got delisted as the afl rule at the time was you had to take three 'live' picks into a national draft? in a choice between him and sparrow for the 'next man up' midfield role in our afl side, i'm choosing sparrow good luck to him; be interesting to see if he can be more than a role player elsewhere 6 Quote
Bonkers 994 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Sad to see him go, if we didn't have midfielders of similar ilk he'd probably get a regular game in his preferred position. It's a sign of the strength of the inside mids that he is leaving and not that the club doesn't value him. He will do well at another club and will become an important cog I'd imagine. We probably need to look at obtaining some insurance to replace him and Dunstan, but also to look at different type of midfielders with a bit more pace and penetration with their kicking IMO so that we have a range of midfield types rather than what we have at the moment. 1 1 Quote
The heart beats true 18,201 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Onya JJ. I hope you light up the place wherever you go. 3 Quote
Little Goffy 14,963 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Always liked him. He will play a lot more AFL level football and I wish him the best, up to the traditional limit! I appreciate the courtesy of Twomey referring to him as Melbourne Premiership Player. 11 Quote

Great Northern Summer 708 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Good luck to him. Reality is, he's a very vanilla player. Serviceable, but doesn't excel in anything. Seems to be a player that may have been better suited to a previous era (i.e. late 90's / early 00s). What is annoying is the players that have a point of difference that we let go (i.e. Bedford; even Hunt for his sheer pace - which we lack). 3 Quote

Colm 2,204 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 All the best JJ. Agree with others that it was a shame he didn’t get a run in 2021 GF. Probably a wise move for him to try and get more regular game time elsewhere. Hopefully a few clubs being in for him will push up the value of his contract and be beneficial to both him and the club. 2 Quote
Adam The God 30,730 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Thanks for the service, JJ. This is best for both parties. 2 Quote
