Farewell James Jordon

Has some good long penetrating kicking, but so far is proving to be a good ordinary footballer.

You need some of those, but I think we’ve probably got a few spares in that regard. Shame cos he seems like a good kid. Hope he gets a fat contract elsewhere.

in terms of generation compensation for us?

surely someone signs him on a ben mckay type deal and we get a band 1 immediately-after-our-first-rounder compensation...

Goody has been on the record saying he wants JJ at the club. It is opportunity (and contract length / $$$). I cant argue with him wanting to go for opportunity. He has been great at the Dees, he will be better somewhere else where he is one of the big 3.

The greatest travesty of his time at the club was not running onto Optus stadium in the GF when it was in the bag.

I understand the ethics from the ‘game rules’ side of things but how about at a personal level?

I very much doubt the AFL would’ve stopped it….. 😬

We would have been stripped of the flag, 100 years of first and second round picks and fined 10 million dollars. It’s the AFL way.

(I’m surprised May’s hamstring didn’t require a last minute sub, with 10 mins left, I’m with you)

i believe he only got delisted as the afl rule at the time was you had to take three 'live' picks into a national draft?

in a choice between him and sparrow for the 'next man up' midfield role in our afl side, i'm choosing sparrow

good luck to him; be interesting to see if he can be more than a role player elsewhere

Sad to see him go, if we didn't have midfielders of similar ilk he'd probably get a regular game in his preferred position. It's a sign of the strength of the inside mids that he is leaving and not that the club doesn't value him. He will do well at another club and will become an important cog I'd imagine. We probably need to look at obtaining some insurance to replace him and Dunstan, but also to look at different type of midfielders with a bit more pace and penetration with their kicking IMO so that we have a range of midfield types rather than what we have at the moment.

We are the "good citizen" club, I would like a bit more of boldness and dare to step against the likes of bully media, clubs like Collingwood and Carlton.

Good luck to him.

Reality is, he's a very vanilla player. Serviceable, but doesn't excel in anything. Seems to be a player that may have been better suited to a previous era (i.e. late 90's / early 00s).

What is annoying is the players that have a point of difference that we let go (i.e. Bedford; even Hunt for his sheer pace - which we lack).

All the best JJ. Agree with others that it was a shame he didn’t get a run in 2021 GF.  Probably a wise move for him to try and get more regular game time elsewhere.
Hopefully a few clubs being in for him will push up the value of his contract and be beneficial to both him and the club.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
