Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Can someone enlighten me as to why Kozzie doesn’t get more midfield minutes? First game of the season rotate plenty through the centre. He was the main reason we rolled the dogs. Gets rubbed out, signs an extension and we play him exclusively forward and he is constantly a non factor……?

No idea. Ask the talk ask summer was getting more players though the midfield and looked great in pre season and round 1

That's not just a this season thing either. They fight like tooth and nail and want to dominate teams...we are so submissive when the pressure really gets turned on...been that way for a long time. We just don't know how to become winners.

The absolute delusion from the club through the spruiking of our 'changed culture' after 2021 was embarrassing at the time...but now it looks like maybe they really did think the work had been done and everything would just happen from there. The approach of Richmond, on field and off field, to strive for sustained success after 2017 puts our club to absolute shame. You win a flag, then 10 games in a row, then opposition start throwing some different stuff at you and we just completely wilted...the heart just isn't there.

FFS, Melbourne did finish 2nd on the ladder pre-2022 Finals. Melbourne weren't dismissive today, poorly skilled yes, but we dominated contested ball and every other stat except the scoreboard. We beat Collingwood 2 games ago and are missing our best player.

Haven’t read the thread but I want to say that we seem to be wasting a generational list.

I’m done with our Aldi version of Paul Roos as the head coach (both are stuck on one flag btw).

It was easier for me when I knew we were not going to win.

Where is Kozzy at and why has he regressed aside from the odd chase down attempts & pressure attempts inside 50 where he was doing well here (2nd in the AFL on averages for tackles inside 50) up to about 2 weeks ago?  Havent checked if he's still in the mix here the last few weeks.

Just isn't playing the 101s as a small forward as you would want.

STILL going for the odd pack mark.

Still playing from behind in 1 v 1s far too often.  In the wet today was just silly.

Doesn't get front & square often enough (occasionally due to pack mark attempts) and when he does.... he usually runs straight into the bottom of the pack so he has virtually no chance of crumbing the spill or escaping if he does.

Who's mentoring / teaching him this rubbish lazy / innefective method of small forward play (offensively)?

Chandler is another post altogether.  Completely innefective the last 5 weeks.  Zero goals if i'm correct.

I mean our effort wasn’t the problem today. We dominated every key stat associated with “effort”. You can’t ask the players to physically put themselves in the contest anymore than they did.
Effort is not the issue. It hasn’t been since the early days of Paul Roos. Execution and game plan is the issue.

The way he's played lately suggests to me he is not a natural forward at all. Playing out if position?

Have to agree. Sometimes it’s right to be positive and generous. But sometimes expressing extreme disappointment and anger is right. This was one of those occasions.

Why because all you believers are getting found out once again??

Denial is a sour taste.

You’re charming. Imagine taking it personally that some people are optimistic. Getting personal when your team loses. Disgraceful behaviour. Red card. You and @JimmyGadson need a spell watching another sport. This is clearly not good for you.

This isn't the positive you think it is.  We keep "dominating" and yet we lose close game after close game. GWS shouldn't have been close today based on "stats" but reality is that it was a game between two teams battling for a top 8 spot.

We finished second off the back of a 10-0 start. We finished the season 6-8 including two finals losses. Overall we've gone 15-14 since Round 11 last year which is good enough to the equivalent of a 12 win season. That's *maybe* a top 8 finish.

Collingwood has been playing without multiple top 22 players for most of the past 12 months. But structurally they barely change because the fundamentals and endeavour remains. And it is impeccable.

Our performance is glossed over by a huge gap between the teams in 1st-3rd and 4th-12th. We're at the top end of a very large bracket of teams but very far off the top. Yes we beat Collingwood but they also beat us in 2021 when we won the flag and finished first and they finished second last. You need to look holistically now because there is an ongoing trend that people simply refuse to acknowledge. I don't understand it.

Just fed up. I had to go for a walk around the block after witnessing this:

Melb 5.15.45

GWS 7.5.47

Poor kicking is poooooooooooor football.

Kick straight Melbourne.

Fix that and we will win the flag.

I almost wish our effort was the problem, easier to fix than skill and the mental side.

This is on both the the playing group and coaches equally. However, I refuse to accept that a team that started 10-0 last year, was 9-4 this year and won the flag in 2021 no longer has the talent. They just need to be told some hard truths, a rocket or two and brought back to reality.

Complacency has well and truly taken over at our club, with an attitude that ‘effort’ alone will keep us in good stead. No one person is bigger than the footy club, no president, no CEO, no coach, no player. Sadly it appears we’ll just be making up the numbers come finals time (I hope it’s not the case, but miracles are too rare an event to rely upon). Those unwilling to make the necessary changes need to step aside, before this slide turns into a plummet.

Yes, great thinking. We are losing games because we're not connecting up forward. You give the players a rocket and that apparently suddenly means the connection happens, Seriously! What evidence is there of complacency? If anything I think it's the opposite. Everyone's trying so hard but that's creating a cluttered game ansd no space for our forwards to operate in.

This says to me he probably knows where we're at.

We're badly punching above our weight atm. Things just aren't clicking. I hope he learned a lesson with Brown and continues developing JVR from next week.

So you thought the player's efforts were poor today. Did Goodwin say he was impressed with our skills? If he said that you'd be right in qwuerying the comment.

I don't see getting Oliver back is magically going to solve our ball skill errors and turn our behinds into goals. Sure, he is a talisman, but not the second coming!

Agree the stats suggest we are just burning opportunities

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
