At what point does the blow torch go onto Goodwin. Something has to change quickly before we waste the most talented list in the AFL.

This is a myth. We aren’t the most talented list in the AFL anymore. We have 2 genuine forwards - Fritsch and Pickett. Everyone else forward of the ball is very young or NQR. 90% or our list has stayed the same or gone backwards in the last year.

We are a 6-8 side. We haven’t innovated enough with our game plan, and have given sides far too much of a look at what we do, without enough variety. It sucks to admit, but it’s now pretty evident.

Some more scattered thoughts: We missed Lachie Hunter, Clarry in a wheelchair would be better than Harmes, Langdon has gone to pox since the haircut, Salem and Lever haven't gotten near 2021 form since then, TMac is cooked, and Gawndy hasn't really worked IMO (although it hasn't been terrible either).

We’re wasting a premiership quality list again this year. Unfortunately it looks like the end is coming quickly for some of our senior players, Gawn included :(

This year is turning into the most disappointing I can remember, and that’s because we should be right amongst it but instead lose on repeat to any decent teams. Our record against top 8 teams speaks for itself. Our gameplan this year doesn’t cut it. What a [censored] waste

We are not a quick side at all, we are starting to drop easy marks, we are easily bypassed, we are just to easy to play against.

Our Forward line is a mess, our stoppage work is third world.

We are in a world of hurt.

Goodwin need to take a leaf out of his opposition coach’s book, admit to being stubborn and shake things up. Longmuir was accused of coaching fake footy and he took the advice on board and completely shifted his team’s ball movement.

I don’t think it’s possible for Goodwin because I have never seen him make wholesale changes mid season. Didn’t happen in 2019, didn’t happen in 2022 and it ain’t happening in 2023.

Smart coaching by freo. They new Oliver out was big and they totally tagged out viney to 2 touches for a half.

Tmac is cooked.

Jvrs too young.

Chandler too.

Lever is not someone I recognise.

Langdon , May and Anb the same.

Spargo over rated.

Max seems to have lost his mojo.

No flag for us. I'm dreading when we play the Pies.

How did he go at Casey? 1 goal only.

Maybe happier if we don’t.  September holiday.

Who cares? JVR only contributed 1 goal. Not good enough for a key forward. Time for change.

Glaring clearance issues continue yet 2 top rucks …. Something is clearly wrong as King said if it’s culture  it’s on the leaders & Goody … the window is now shut & cant see opening

It was a good contest but I'm worried about our inabiliry to put them away. They seemed to be running on never ending energy. We seemed stuff.

Unless we get momentum early and pummel teams, we just don't do well in tight contests.

Would love to know Goodwin's coaching record W:L for under 10 points. We just never look like winning these games.

Some dude was just chanting "Freo" and someone yelled out to go home to which he replied "I am home, I live in Fitzroy" to anyone that wanted to listen.

Ie. Why are there so many Freo fans here?

One thing that doesn't get mentioned enough: Lever has been [censored] rubbish this season.

Yes, but he’s playing out of position. He’s an interceptor, not a second kpd or 1 on 1.

Is this list all that? We were average post round 10 last year and we’ve been average this season. Maybe we’re just an average list.

Such an uninspiring team and coaching staff, everyone is down on form, backline couldn’t catch a cold (lever WTF!), just continue to bomb into the forward 50, never lower you eyes. Such a waste of talent in this team

But don't worry cos Jvr will crash the pack.

Why didn’t we put Kosi into the middle in the last? We were getting mauled in there time and time again.
The game was all but lost so try something!

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
