Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No wonder the club was [censored] off Bedford left.

He's exactly the sort of guy to bring in now to give Chandler a chop out.

I reckon there's a chance both would have been playing in our forward half this year.

Food for thought for the recruiting period at the end of 2023.

And we will be saying the same thing about JJ when Viney inevitably breaks down at 30 years of age.
But by all means, keep playing Harmes.

Disappointed in our forward line delivery.

Our strategy seems to be bomb it in, hope for a mark (no one is getting to the drop of the ball, hitting the pack from the side, or they compete againsteach other). They can't be hoping for a front and centre small, as there isn't anyone positioned well enough, or our smalls are also competing for the the mark.

No change of angles off the line, or switching.

That over handballing, as well as balls to players under pressure, I don't get it! The runners need to be moving to space not to the congestion. Gee, we didn't use the space the MCG offers very well.

Nearly stole it again, but our process and structures to finish off close games is not good enough. Why not play the entire game with the sought of endeavour they show, when it is ten minutes to go. Our defensive structures keep us close, though difficult, when ineffective when we had the ball, and Waly was getting multiple entries, causing them to struggle.

We are not as good a team as we think we are. A lot of classy individuals and will probably scrape into the 8, nothing more. We need a few more aggressive type characters who can respond to the physicality of this sport when needed.

And for goodness sake could we please get some system in our forward line

poor effort, Unfortunately i can see carlton beating us next week the way we have been playing. Then Collingwood will run around us like our players are witches hats just standing there.  Then Geelong and by then season will be over. Hard to see how we are going to turn it around we keep bringing in players without giving them match practice through the VFL, we keep giving dud players a chance, drop them then bring them back hoping for a miracle, unfortunately they are still very much dud players.

Our backs and mids played mostly OK. Our intensity, run and attack on the ball or player looked mostly OK.

But our in-close handballing, fumbling, and bog ordinary kicking to inside F50 makes us look like a team placed about 8th, which is where we are heading. I cannot believe how bad our kicking into F50 is, probably best summed up by Trac's out on the full in the 1st quarter. Even our great kicks like Salem, Bowey and Picket looked terrible today.

Make no mistake, Freo were not good enough to win that game, but we were error-riddled enough to lose it.

Some of us could actually see it occur when the team selection was published. Writing was on the wall - so was the signature of the culprit responsible. Same old, same opinions, no flexibility nor challenge.

Do what Collingwood and Port are doing. Are they Hubbing up?

No idea but at the moment we have the best Demons list I’ve seen I’m my lifetime and for whatever reason we are not getting the best out of them. The boys all credit the hub for bringing them closer which played a role in them winning a premiership. Look how tight the Collingwood boys are, we could use a little of that.

Give it time, Goody realised it last year there was a problem, we are a bit like governments have to hold an inquiry, then discuss it and then more talk but we will get there, I hope.

Disappointing game and result.

I said in the pre-game thread that I thought we had not selected enough to fill midfield rotations and that we did not have enough run. I think we did a bad job of selection and a very bad job of ingame coaching.

We lose a wing and our best mid field driver and do not use players such as Pickett to fill roles in the midfield. One of Chandler, Spargo or ANB should have made way for Jordon in the selected team or at least made way for him as sub at half time for Chandler. That would have given us the chance to run Brayshaw through the middle while Jordon ran a wing. Pickett should have been given some time in the middle. In the first half with Viney being sat on we could have swapped Pickett and Viney to give some more drive and to try and break the tag on Viney.

The situation with out tall forwards is nothing less than a shambles.... omni or otherwise. When Petty gets back play him as the third tall in defence and settle the forward situation. Give Brown a few weeks there with JVR or Schache. Get back to the structures that stood us in good stead in 21. due to a reluctance to change things and injuries the team looks incomplete and disconnected.

Partly the fault of the players but a lot of it needs to rest at the feet of the coaches and the rest of the footy department.

It was really disappointing.  We pooped the bed badly all day.  Charlie cost us 3 goals alone with his selfish play.  Harmes was in it early but then MIA.  Gotta think about some serious changes to reward performance and start patching some of the holes.  How can we accept the smashing in clearance week after week?  Each lost clearance served the suckers an easy entry.  Kicking for goal as abysmal.  Marking and basic skill execution was poor.  No excuses, this was as bad as I’ve seen the team play as a team in a long time.  Time to shift gears if we want to be in it.

Carlton are going to pressure us physically big time...that's how they very nearly beat us with half a VFL team last year. Collingwood will obviously go harder for longer than us...they wanted it more both times last year and can't see how we'll go toe to toe with them in the pressure stakes.

Who knows with Geelong...their pressure has dropped off a bit like ours...but they do have a recent history with an expectancy of competitiveness which will continue to hold then in good stead...

We’ve got to get back to our DNA and have that third tall in the back line.

Lever was under the pump far too often today and they took too many uncontested marks .

I'm sure they're saying the same things down at Geelong. Burn the place, wasted the list, Scott fluked the premiership.

We were pathetic today, but there isn't a veil of negativity on here. There's mental fragility.

Let's burn the place down of we don't make the top 4. A long way to go yet.

A few on here need to take a break from DL for a few days.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, annoys me more than posters coming on here and telling other posters what to do.
This is a forum for supporters to discuss the club. Good or bad. As long as people do so respectfully, who is anyone to tell them what they should do.

The large majority of posters here are paid up members who have spent tens of thousands of dollars supporting this club for many many years. If they want to be upset about a poor loss, they have that right.

To be fair to Geelong, their list is 9000 years old and they’ve achieved a hell of lot more than we have in the last decade. They also have a bazillion more injuries than we do.

The season is far from gone, but it is in the balance. Lose the next 3, which is a possibility, and it could be.
We need to make some changes to turn this season around. Can we? Of course we can. Will we? Who knows.

I believe the pies would have beaten the cats, the swans played their grand final the week before, but that's for another day, but tell me where we have  improved from 2021?

Possibly very lucky to be up in the year that the GF and big finals were played away from the MCG. We might well have seen an epic pant[censored] if we had have played a huge final on the MCG if there was a hostile crowd involved. Think it suited us very well to be very far away in 21.

Bet you can't find one credible football industry person that would agree with this position.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
