Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

Throw the game plan out. Tell the players to back themselves and run…..both ways. We’re too stagnant. At one point today May marks in D50 and just turns around and kicks it long to a one on one on the wing, it gets squared and help arrives, we win the contest take it forward and kick a goal. At no point did Freo get set. We simply beat them at the contest. If our game is defence and contest then play that way. Go long to a contest, roll in the Calvary and do it again. Keep May as the backstop and sure you’ll lose some. It’s pretty much what the pies do and it’s working. We’re a contest team and we’re damn good at it. It’s like we’re playing against our strengths sometimes

Seemed to do well in Rd1

So did Lever. Well my day didn’t go so well, the drive in was pleasant and the pie was hot But Jacko turned up to play possibly his best game on the G Freo made the most of their opportunities and racked up a lot of uncontested possessions in our forward line which we seemed ok with as they did it whenever we looked a bit lively. Although one of our best Max is right off his game at present. Lever is being exposed down back by us not playing the third tall. We continued to bomb the ball into the forward 50 with total oblivion and managed a miserable 10.12 and three out on the full. Where has our accuracy gone?? The Dockers had a game plan that they stuck to by playing wide and maintaining possession at times we seemed quite clueless. It was a quiet drive home football wise.😪😢

The only was JVR can stop the frequency of '...pills on top of one's head...' is to bite the bullet, occasionally, and lead out into the wider and shallower areas of the forward line - pick a space or one freed of player movement, signal to your feeder roughly where to place it, run like buggery to receive or tap on, kick the goal or have another deep forward ape your endeavour. Make the play ... not wait to receive!

And how can you do that when the game plan is to bomb it, because once it hits the H/F line they don't look for anything else so that's a bit hard to do.

It's not talking it down, sides get into the right space right time, again the dogs were thought to be able to do it again but didn't, but they got stuck into thinking will do it again easy, but tell me where have we improved from 21? please tell me i'm all ears?

Strangely enough I've actually agreed with most of what you've said tonight.

We are in a position where we need to find the next gear and so far it has been left wanting.

Everyone is calling for drastic changes but at the same time I don't think we are far away from what is needed. The defense was pretty good again today not that the rest of the team is trying to help them so all the calls for 1/2 the defense to get dropped need to chill.

Obviously the biggest issues seem to be stemming from the forward line being non functioning which has been an issue all year but we started the 1st month or so by being the most accurate team, the offseason seems to have had a lot of focus on accurate kicking but not working for each other in the forward half, why are our calls always standing next to each other?!

And we will be saying the same thing about JJ when Viney inevitably breaks down at 30 years of age.
But by all means, keep playing Harmes.

We  all knew that Bedford's restricted game time and opportunity would be costly to our skillset. The same for JJ, Chandler and JVR, and others. Yet, we play the same predictability week in, week out. If they have a walking stick, a former reputation, a Seniors Card and/or just a clutch of games left in the ammo box, they're first-picked, assured a spot in the team that otherwise could do some serious damage, and anointed with bundles of forgiveness from coaching personnel. 'See 'ya next week; maybe we'll have a better run.'

So last week the rainbow chasers thought we were good because we only lost by 4 to a good side. What have you got to say this week?

Well as bad as some say we are, would you agree that if we kicked straight we would have won.

That is what in many respects makes it so infuriating.

I hadn't notice but youre so right, the boys seemed to have fun during '21 but the past two don't seem that fun, as hard as we are on them you have to imagine they are harder on themselves.

No wonder the club was [censored] off Bedford left.

He's exactly the sort of guy to bring in now to give Chandler a chop out.

I reckon there's a chance both would have been playing in our forward half this year.

Food for thought for the recruiting period at the end of 2023.

Bit harsh on Bedford, how many times was he the sub player. Left for game time and I can’t blame him.Would love to have him on the list still, a bloke with genuine leg speed as opposed to the one paced players we are stacked with

We clearly sat Toby down and said you'll be playing more. Not to mention he did play last year. He was also an NGA talent for us, so we developed him from a young age.

Look at Chandler, he stuck fat and is now getting regular games.

We don't know exactly what went on behind closed doors, but I'd be disappointed if I were the club.

Grundy looks a much better option than Gawn. Interesting to see how Gawn comes back after the bye?

I know this will sound strange if they are not going to play BB, and Tmac is cooked why not do something different, play Grundy FF full time or Smith if we are continuing to bomb it it in at least there will be a contest and allow JVR, etc to roam a bit more, do something different, comments welcome.

I think we set up really well behind the ball, but Gawn, May and Lever dropped at least 15 intercept marks between them. That undoes all your hard work and invited most of the scores against.

I've never seen a game where so many intercept marks were dropped and many of them not particularly difficult.

I backed Freo made a nice little earner with what little money an old man can bet, without the wife knowing ....lol

Fair, everyone seemed to just be dropping them but IMO that's different to just not being good enough especially when they have proved they can play well.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
