GAMEDAY: Rd 08 vs Gold Coast

Gotta say this is a garbage performance from our midfield. It's like we're letting them have a few bloopies.

Petty to the backline, Trac forward. He’ll why not throw May forward for a bit, see if he can get some confidence.

And for the love of god someone tell Fritsch to stop gelling his hair and get into the game.

Bizarre Game.

Fritsch, Langdon and Lever are nowhere to be seen.

If they can enter the match we should do some damage. If they can’t, this is going to the wire.

I certainly can see why we tried to get Essendons pick to get Humphrey. Guy is going to be weapon.

May is done.

70 to 45 contested possessions.

Gold Coast just working way harder.

That is very worrying. GC just hungrier and they’ll continue to work hard given they have a sniff. Really need to lift.

Pathetic umpiring. Recall the bounce.

Terrible bounce but Grundy can’t just go running past the ball and jumping in to Witts. That’s exceptionally stupid.

The underrated reason to why the Pies got rid of him is because he’s really dumb for an experienced player. Has no concept of playing the percentages

From my position in the outer it looks like the suns are employing the collingwood tactic of having more players at the contest. No backline can defend that movement.

They have grown in confidence since halfwsy through the 1st quarter.

Grundy and May need to lift up.

Is May still carrying some injury? He looks very sluggish in open space.

Geee we look really off.

When have we looked on?
we have been underperforming since round 11 last year and it’s starting to get frustrating

Once again, the umpires are embarrassing the game. Shocking inconsistencies.

I hate them. I honestly do. It’s a deep seated I really want to burn their houses down kind of hate. 😳

We are in front.

Go Dees.

Bruise free football, midfield not putting enough pressure on the suns. Same as last few games

Our much vaunted backline not doing much vaunting. May carrying something? Need Petty back there, Turner being rag-dolled by Casboult.

Slender lead, poor half.

We look unfocused, giving them too much room. They’re taking marks at will in our backline. May has been horrid. Please put Petty back.

I’m loathe to say this already but the reality is that we’re not there yet, not even close. Like last year our wins have come against low ranking teams or ones who have not yet found their stride.

Our wins are v 10, 11, 14, 16 and 18. Losses against top 8 teams.

We need to make big improvements. If we sneak a win out of this I’ll be very happy but we need to address stuff like what the hell happened to our backline, where is May? Why do we disappear so often?

Needless to say we need a big statement setting second half.

I remember Suns wilting in the freo game... expecting us to roll them in 2nd half

Yea don't hold back there.😀

Sub disco, Petty back and Harmes in

Not enough players working hard hard enough and hitting the contest with intent. Gold Coast first to the loose ball on so many occasions.

Most of our players can lift so expecting a response.

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
