Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Trac’s set shot routine is transformed. Walks straight, holds the ball straight, 3 steps in, 4th the kick with STRAIGHT momentum, no leaning back on it. Seems simple, and it is!

Much better W.  The confidence gained in his game in general from this improvement should not be underestimated

Probably, but what was the history making feat?

It’s the first time in MFC history that we’ve won by 50 points or more in three of the first four matches.

To be honest WCW I’m finding it very hard to find any credence in anything you say given you couldn’t even be bothered flying over there for the game. Better things to do it seems. 🙄

Happy with a 10 goal win. Eagles turned up early and were flicking the ball around with pace early on. Was a little worried it could be a grind all day.

Some rambling thoughts;

Jack Viney was very, very good today. Glorious to see T-Mac clunking some nice grabs on the lead too. #31 classy as always and Kozzy could have been BOG on another day if he had finished off his work a little more efficiently. Trent Rivers is a gun.

I might be wrong, but I don’t think JVR has missed a shot on goal yet. Loving his assured kicking for goal.

He had one shot from about 45 for a behind.

From what i've seen so far, Roohey rarely misses from about 35 and under.

Once he gets a bit stronger through the legs/bod he will hopefully extend his accuracy from further out.

I’d fly to Mars to watch our team play. The airfare would probs be cheaper 😑 I’m down to one kidney and my selfish ingrate of a son won’t let me put one of his on eBay. 🙃

There is very clearly ball infront of the post.

Whether than means the ball is 100% not over the line we won’t ever know. But this is how they judge it and it’s consistent.

The ruler is on the line. Fritta robbed a goal!

That performance was a bee's you know what from being a much bigger smashing. Can't complain with the start we've had, and I was particularly happy with McVee, Sparrow, Viney, and Rivers - not to mention Brodie Grundy who is such a luxury to have with Max out.

The linkage and execution of 'team' - particularly forward - is starting to detract from close and rewarding individual performances, reviews and recoveries across the game. The blend, the recruiting and the improved systems are producing dividends we have all awaited. Go Dees!

Always enjoyable belting west coast. Thoroughly dislikeable mob.

It's their constant "booing" just about for anything that drives me mad. Father was from Perth and I lived there for a while and generally the hatred of the "East" - especially Melbourne, because of the footy is palpable. If you don't talk footy their not too bad one on one BUT get into a group and forget it.

Very true, spent Easter with some Filth fans (the things you do for family peace...).  They were adamant that it was a good call to get rid of Grundy and that they'd be fine even with Cox out.  Said it's better to have players all on the same pay packet rather than someone on more like Grundy.

Hah. Just wait till they find out the pay for the Daicos boys moving forward. That will blow their theory of equal pay out of the water.

We have LOTS of in form players, multiple 'utility' players, a very strong list, and many things going well. It is astonishing to think er can play this well with Gawn, Salem and BBB out. For pure strength and talent, we are as good as we have ever been.

Our fumbling is becoming a concern and will hurt us against the better sides, especially when it is Petracca, Viney, Oliver, ANB, Spargo etc... who are usually so clean. We have to tidy this up.

Great to see many of our players improving et shot goal kicking.

We now have a scary forward mix. Maybe even better than 1994 and that is saying a lot.

My man Brayshaw is possibly our sloppiest current player. Some of his un-pressured stuff ups today (and over the last 2 weeks as well) were mind boggling. It is only his 2-way running and defensive efforts keeping him in the 22. He is a gun, but clean hands and feet required.

Gus is still doing his job intercepting marks and creating free players  underrated in my view

I noticed this.  The game plan certainly focuses on shutting down the opposition danger players and letting players with lower efficiency get plenty of it.  Smart

I've been complaining about Grundy not taking enough marks.

I now accept this doesn't matter. His ruck work is excellent but his ground work at collecting and winning the ball is even better. He also uses it very well and the ammount of running and presenting as an option is elite for a big man.

Props to Tmac and Kozzie who impacted the game after being absent for a week and two respectively.

Kozzie could easily have kicked six.

It didn't seem great to watch but it's still a 10 goal win interstate and our 3rd game in 4 of kicking over 100 points.

I'm hoping Bbb comes back to our fwd line. Not knocking Petty but I think Bbb is a better mark.

Credit to JV who played his best game for a while. He is a beast.

From the 2023 Laws of the Game.

1.1 DEFINITIONS
...
Goal Line: the white line marked on the Playing Surface between each goal post, as illustrated in Diagram 1.

...

16.1 GOALS AND BEHINDS
16.1.1 Scoring a Goal
Subject to Law 16.2, a Goal is scored when the football is Kicked completely over the Goal Line by a Player of the  Attacking Team without being touched by any other Player, even if the football first touches the ground.
16.1.2 Scoring a Behind
Subject to Law 16.2, a Behind is scored when any of the following occurs:
...
(b) the football touches or passes over the goal post or touches the padding or any
other attachment to the goal post;
(c) a Player of the Attacking Team Kicks the football over the Goal Line but before
completely passing over the Goal Line, the football is touched by another Player;

Note: "Goal Line", not "back of the padding".

According to the rules, it's a goal. This "back of the padding" thing is a furphy.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
