How can the afl justify playing Carlton vs Gws sat & saints playing home game at the mcg tonite vs Dons & Dees get banished to compete against the F1 on Sunday???

I still don’t understand how our game isn’t a Saturday night. It’s two teams in contention. What I’m watching tonight is two teams who will be lucky to get a whiff of the 8.

Although I agree with your sentiments, Id much prefer to go to a friendly timeslot of 3:20 on a Sunday compared to travelling home after midnight with the trains in disarray atm1

When they scheduled this draw it was likely 14th vs 15th which is probably about where Essendon will finish

Why is St Kilda playing a home game at the G?

Sydney fans come down for race and game long weekend Money and mates. We get left with maggots.

Putting the viewership money stuff aside, its nice to be out of the prime time spot light occasionally. Its been a long time since those day games v Collingwood & Carlton. So it will be a relief to get out onto the G in the daylight with a red Sherrin for once.

And tomorrow is a free-to-air game so the sponsors and the team get lots of exposure.  The Sunday arvo game often attracts a big TV audience.  However, it will be interesting to see how our game rates up against the F1GP

It wasn't all that long ago where we were rarely on FTA at all.  And that went on for years

But we have to turn up like we did in round one (last week was a no-show and a head-scratcher)

Not at my house. We’re just getting started.

True about the Bombers but I think the AFL finally did something worthwhile giving the Saints the stage for their 150th celebration at the G.

70,000 fans agree.

But watching the Saints new Lyon-style play I suspect yet again it won't get it done in September against other current Top 4 contenders (including us) but they'll have a good ride this year.

That would be news to Carlton and the AFL.

Since we are having a whine...my bone of contention is playing at Geelong every Single year. Like clockwork they pencil it in. Pies never play there.

Not only we have to play them down there but also we only get. 9 day break with the Bye... what a joke the AFL fixture can be.

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.
