Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We've had our troubles with the Pies but we can beat them.  Don't ask me how, ask our coaches and our MC!

We're going to need a good plan as it's hard to get the ball off them when they're firing.  And a lot of their scoring opportunities emanate from half back with continuous possession

Their run last year was tremendous.  Their ball movement from half back through the middle and into their forward line is something a lot of other teams can learn from.  Precision skills

And they are quick   The Daicos lads don't get tackled (for instance) ... just like their old man!

They are a team we need to get past if we're going to salute

Collingwood is the only team where I look at their best and I doubt if our best can beat them. They have a belief that they can win from any position, their speed and pressure is overwhelming when they’re on.  They can turn the momentum of a game on a dime.

Really, really hope I’m wrong obviously.

They didn't go winless last year, they can be beaten, just need the belief yourself.

Well we can pressure them a lot better than Geelong did tonight.  But we need to do that as well as bringing our A game elsewhere

And we need to fix our delivery into our forward line which is something the club has been talking about and practising in the off-season.

We can learn from the Pies with regards to our ball movement into the forward line.  They just don't waste opportunities and that's why they're so efficient

We've got just as many skilled players but we can't be wasteful

looked to me that geelong ran out of puff and put the cue in the rack half way through the the third quarter.

fitness or age or both?

From what the Fox guys were saying it is only one month difference between the 2 sides in age and games played so I would say the Magpies game plan is the worry for the Cats. Remember the Pies should have won that prelim last year.

Precedent is there, Grand Final replay.

Glad you agree Allus Monk. Precedent is well and truly set. 60 years after Melbourne and Collingwood last met in a Grand Final...to meet in an opening round, prime time, when both teams are in good form. Ratings BONANZA. 100,000+ at the game - FOR SURE. Not to mention sponsorship deals... How could the AFL marketing team miss this opportunity? COME ON AFL. Action this in 2024.

Spot on…Geelong had their chances to run away with it, but look like they just couldn’t sustain the pace -it was a low tackle count and pure offensive footy with both teams losing key defensive anchors. Geelong showed Collingwood can be burnt the way they play, but they’re so damaging when they get it right - it shows how much the game can open up with kicking and forward movement, something we entirely lacked last year - our ability to put pace on and move the ball in any fashion.

Collingwood to make a grand final at the minimum. I was on their wagon last year and nothing tonight would suggest otherwise.

They have absolutely mastered the art of playing at the MCG as indicative of winning 14 of their last 17 games there.
I think they play 14-15 games there this year and always play well in WA and SA for some interstate wins.

(To argue against myself I’d be interested to see how this rematch goes in the cold and heavy MCG track in July with Geelong more conditioned)

I only hope our boys can start mastering our home ground. That will go a long way to us contending this year.

Collingwood are going to be right up there again I predicted them to finish 3rd but Geelong are just a team without Stewart he's like May to our team.

Not sold on Carlton or Richmond both will struggle to make the 8 even though at the start of the year I had higher expectations on Richmond.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
