Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

And we have no idea if Gus is going to play on or not.
A midfield sans Clarry and Gus is no more than a middle of the road midfield. It isn’t winning you flags.

To be fair, I don’t think the side as it stands is winning another flag.

Trading Clarry is a bold call, but I think the club recognises a level of reinvigoration is needed and weighed that against the impeding arrival of the compromised Tasmanian drafts; if the trade eventuates that is.

I don’t disagree, but Clarry isn’t the reason we aren’t winning another flag.

We are over invested in insiders. I think we can all agree to this and the need for outside class.

If you look at potential trade options excluding Clarry it’s really only Trac as the alternative that can attract the draft capital. And if the alleged behavioural issues are true to the extent they are having an impact on culture, then it’s possible that he has punched his own ticket.

Not overs. For every good pick 2 and 3, there are dozens very ordinary ones who will never come close to being as good as Clarry.

Harley Reid has a more well rounded game than Clarry as it stands.

Clarry hasn't improved his week areas, regardless of how good his contest work is.

Many people are blinded by their love for one individual.

Might just be the best thing for Clayton and us long term.

Everyone thought a Collingwood would fall off a cliff once Treloar left and Stephenson (to a lesser degree).

We've shown that we actually function better as a side without another inside specialist in the side.

Why don't we wait and see, eh?

No, but the same setup has seen us bundle out in straight sets two years running.

Anddddd we were a better functioning side without Oliver in the side this year.

His value to as functioning well as a TEAM is at odds with the value he holds as an elite specialist inside INDIVIDUAL.

People are confusing the two for some reason....

No doubt Jason Taylor is a gun recruiter. I don’t doubt for a minute he will do well with any picks he’s given. But it’s still all a lottery.

History has shown us that many highly rated juniors go on to have average careers.
You absolutely cannot guarantee that any player drafted this year will be as good or better than Clarry. Very few first round picks since his draft have achieved what he has in terms of accolades.

You also can't guarantee that Clayton will continue to improve parts of his game that need improving? Or that his behaviour will get better? Or that he won't get a long-term injury?

We get it, you're an unabashed fan of the individual above all else.

So we lost to pies with bad kicking by 7 points, Gus getting knocked out and a fwd line tapped together and some how we are out of the window, pull another one. A few less injuries and some further development and maybe a smart trade and we are more than in the hunt

The only way you'd lose out on this is if it were to cause unrest within the group, club and individual.

That would be a disaster.

But if everyone was okay with it and we received what we should in way of picks, which would see us land Reid and and a McKertcher...

We'd be better off as a team whether people want to hear that or not.

Reid can play everywhere and displays exactly the same level of competitiveness and contested ball winning ability as Clayton. He's further advanced than Clayton at the same age and already possesses traits that Clayton doesn't.

McKertcher is the class, user and runner we need so desperately for that link and connection.

I'll be content if Clayton stays and can get help and endeavour to improve other aspects of his game. But I definitely won't be upset if all parties come to an agreement and believe it's best for club and individual.

As far as I have heard subject to medical checks Gus is intending to play on.  So far he has received positive news from all medical tests. Needs another last result only now from a team of experts or such like.

Ok so let me try and see if i’m getting this straight.

1./ oliver self tattoos foot and misses games with infection

2./ falls out with conditioning coach

3./ breaks up with girlfriend and loses his [censored].

4./ rocks up late and wasted to post season interview

None of that is terminal fr a generational player like Oliver football clubs move past [censored] like this all the time. But his attitude meets a period where we’ve just lost 4 finals in a row, Goody is taking no prisoners,   harley reid is sitting right there and Tasmania is coming.

Im going to have to take a deep breath and sit with it.

Astute observations.

The shadow of the devil creeps closer indeed. Going to have effects many don't see coming.

Qld could fall off a precipice...the footy world would hardly blink....  but when the horn sounds for the "islanders" to march home....indeed many will heed the call.

Agree also that the current team/coaching isn't winning another flag.

Lots of changes and recasting to come.

I'm fascinated.

Will there be flames where only smoke exists now ?

As they say... Who Dares Wins.

I genuinely thought GWS were going to be bottom 4 this year after losing their midfield brutes Tarranto and Hopper..

Honestly if this club is now shopping semi-publically a once-in-a-generation talent because of 'attitude issues' twelve months after signing him for seven years our list management foresight is laughably bad.

In recent times we have been good at the draft but the decades before that were at best mixed in terms of drafting and at times appallingly bad. Why gamble what is for what might be?

Or have we just managed to maintain the value of our “asset” by having it under contract?

I also doubt we would have been able to foresee tattoo-gate or a relationship breakdown.

Totally valid qualifiers.

Trees survive because they bend and adapt..  Rocks can fall or crack.

I would think it bodes well to be adeptly adaptive.

Whatever is best holistically for the club.... IS the BEST outcome imo.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
