Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Entertaining football sells memberships.

The casual arm chair supporter isn't going to take out a membership and subsequently attend our remaining home games if we're going to continue to kick 6 to 8 goals a game.

Arm chair should still buy a 3 game membership to belong.  I cannot folk whos day they are supporters but do not belong. It’s only $12 a month direct debit.   We only go to a few games but always renew membership no matter what.

I blame the board.

It should be 68k, end of last year.

Yes Kate Roffey's handball ing is very weak snd that BradGreen doesn't kick like he used to.

What a  stupid comment. Blame the Board!!

Prey tell why you blame them and not the players snd Coach's or other reasons like injuries perhaps?

And what is the significance of 68k? Last year it was 66,000 odd. It's about 1,500 below now and there was a late rush near the end when we finished second on the ladder last season.

I bet many D/Landers are waiting to hear your explanation please or are you saying this tongue in cheek which is just as stupid!

Apologies of sorts as allI I read was from the  last comment/s and also missed the post or whatever has been posted  to members. My emails have not been checked for yesterday so there may be a MFC email with this good news, however it's occurred.

PS In my defence also yesterday I was busy flying from Lisbon to Amsterdam for pleasure not business and out with friends last night and that's why I turned immediately to the last two emails on Page 18 in the membership category as I thought we may have got to 65,000 but not to 67,000 plus.

So Jontee May we'll have the last laugh!!

I'm not sure why people get so worked up about membership numbers - it is the membership dollars that matter. We could buy our way to 70K members by giving away $10 memberships for the last three home games, but what does that really achieve?

My son gets a free 3 game St Kilda membership with his SMJFL fees each year. That is potentially several thousand kids included in St Kilda's membership numbers each year that neither barrack for St Kilda or contribute to the club. As an aside, they also gave him two free tickets to be used during the year, so we used those to attend Saturday's game for nothing. Thanks SKFC.

It gets their name on the clubs list. They then pound you with membership details for the rest of your life.

Question for anyone that might know...

I'm considering changing my club membership (GA home games) to AFL silver membership (40 games MCG/Marvel) as I will be going to all our games anyway, plus I usually go to at least 10 neutral games per season so it'd work out cheaper.

I know I can nominate MFC as my club of support, but was just curious if I switched whether I would still retain my consecutive years of membership with the MFC?

Also, how do I actually do it?

Do I have to apply for AFL membership with the AFL, and then separately cancel the MFC one?

Or does the AFL handle the transfer with the MFC, similar I guess to changing mobile phone plans?

Yes, you will retain consecutive years of membership.  The CRM system of MFC is somewhat antiquated, but the AFL shares the customer data with the club and they do a reconciliation.  If in doubt, contact the MFC membership department to track down and consolidate your entries.

Yep you retain your consecutive years of membership. We switched to AFL membership around 1997 I think but my MFC membership is recognised since 1989.

You're better off signing up to AFL membership first and contacting the MFC to let them know. Make sure they remove the direct debit from your current MFC membership though.

The biggest benefit is in regards to finals tickets. Last year most MFC members would have paid $80 each to go to our two finals games but as an AFL member you only pay a $20 or so booking fee. AFL Silver members pay full price for prelim tickets ($170ish I think) but full/gold members get in for basically nothing again ($20). Full members get first access to GF tickets if your club is playing and pay half price ($200 or so) but Silver members are unlikely to get tickets even if they're club is playing so you might need to get a GF guarantee through MFC on top of your AFL membership until you become a full member (current wait seems to be around 18-20 years). The cost is basically the difference between a silver ($470) and full ($645) AFL membership so it basically evens out. But you'll be paying full price for any GF ticket (around $400).

All the ticket prices above are based on tickets on level 1.

Going by this, we are either 7th or 8th - depends on how many Adelaide have.

What's a "paln"?

67k+ is outstanding, particularly given the global pandemic decimating two of those 4 years. I for one applaud the ambition Gary Pert demonstrated in setting the 75k goal.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
