Why would you care what Kane Cornes says about this?

Port have said it was stupid, then Lamb said it was stupid. There's obviously nothing there.

The SEN audience is less than 3% in Melbourne and doesn't exist elsewhere. The idea that we have to sign him up before Xmas to shut up Kane Cornes is laughable. Maybe some people just enjoy their beds being wet.

As the other poster pointed out, Goody, Lamb, Gawn and many others made all the same comments about Jackson. Everyone does, until the truth comes out.

We've all been through this enough times before (Jessie, Jacko) to know that whilst it may be a misconstrued, embellished version of the truth, it will not be 100% fabricated. It never is.

I cant stand some of what Cornes says, but if he doesnt sign a contract early next year.. odd son he is right.

I would be very surprised if the club isn't working with Kozzie and those close to him to understand what he doesn't like about Melbourne, the city.

Clubs will go to great lengths to make players happy in all aspects of their life.  So unless Kozzie is miserable his unease in Melbourne, the city I reckon it will all get sorted.  Even North said they asked JHF's family to move to Melbourne to help him out.

The club loves to have a major contract signing announced at the start of the season.  Kozzie is a fan super favourite so an announcement in March perhaps... 🙂

The club should sue Kornes. The bloke has had it coming for a while. He literally called Tim Lamb a liar. If Tim thinks otherwise, it's time to attack the credibility of this twit. He is a modern day shock jock and rarely backs down

Kane Cornes straight out saying that both Tim Lamb and Kozzie Pickett are outright lying.

He'd want to be very sure.

He is just trying to save face as he started the rumour, propably for his own selfish reasons.

As they say 'attack is the best form of defence'.  I just don't like how he discredits good people.

The club should ignore Cornes and do two things

1. All it can to make Kossie happy with his life in Melbourne

2. Sign a new contract before the start of next season

If they can't get these done it will become another ugly circus very very quickly

Calling Kossie a liar should come back to bite..

More pragmatism, less emotion...

If Kysaiah leaves. What or whom do we get in return...

We must send Cornes across to the USA, to Florida. There, he can meet with Donald Trump to compare notes. He meets all the necessary criteria for Trump: narcissi tendencies, his own selfish reasons to speak publicly, attack to cause delays as a double-barrelled form of futile self-defence, an ability to discredit good people as if he was superior and could recognise it, and could exemplify that fictitious assumption as well. MOKGA (make our Kane great again). Hell, Trump might run him as his vice-POTUS or as a senior, advising counsel (Kane is so influential, opinionated and intelligent).

Those that get frustrated by Kornes need to understand that is what he wants. He wants to be controversial, he wants angry supporters ringing up and complaining. It is his style of trash journalism.

Sounds positive but until he signs an extension it’s up in the air and this is why the speculation will persist.
Jackson take 2 🤮

On Lamb’s comments, Cornes – speaking on AFL Trade Radio’s The Early Trade - said: “That’s a lie.

Wonder if Tim is off to see his Solicitor.

End result if it went all the way could be Kossie called in to answer questions which possibly wouldn’t help the club.

I would expect some stern follow up with the powers that be at afl house. Can’t have people on afl endorsed channels calling people liars.

Is it accepted fact that he doesn’t like living here?

according to cornes, yes 🤣 so it must be true as he doesn't like lies

As mentioned in a earlier post by Jaded No More that he lives / lived with both Jackson and Bedford (one gone and the other looking to go) wouldn’t help one iota!
Hope this gets sorted sooner rather than later for two reasons.
a) team stability for 2023.
 b) I don’t think I could handle another year of ‘will he, wont he’ like what happened with Jackson this year!

He’s a contemporary KB. I think he’s hilarious. The amount of people he is able to bait weekly astounds me.

Like you said mate, it’s what he wants and it works a treat.

He wants to be Stephen A Smith

Ports main focus will be to pursue JHF. If they do that - as many have said - they will not have much left to pursue Kozzy.

The issue is next year when his current contract expires. Don't think I can stomach another season of speculation and distraction like we just had with Jackson

He's still really young, I remember Jeff Farmer had his struggles with Melbourne the city early on but grew to love it here. Obviously he did end up going back to WA but I believe that was more for family reasons in the end.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
