I wouldn’t rush Harmes in. Brayshaw’s time in the middle was heaps more impactful than Harmes’ usually is.

Harmes in,   Neal - Bullen out

Brayshaw to stay in the middle, permanently.

Harmes can earn his spot back. He wasn't exactly in great form anyway. Was great not seeing attempted don't argues for a change.

Brayshaw in the middle tonight added a whole new dimension to our midfield mix. Leave him in there for the rest of the year.

Exactly my thoughts after tonight my mind is made up Just not up to it

Jon Ralph said post-game Ben Brown would be back in for Collingwood. Assume he's actually heard that from the club.

Whilst JVRoo couldn't offer any less than Weid, I think the odds of them playing a 1st year player as a lone key fwd is slim to none

I would leave the Weed in because he will take Moore out of the game more. BBB is not good enough for Moore and poor old Van Rooyen is being tossed in at the deep end. What ever the case Mr Moore will be twinkling his diddlestick all week over his next opponent.

Max Gawn: I really want that game.

Assuming Harmes needs another week and BB is fit?

Out:  Weid, ANB

In:  BBB, Chandler

If BB isn't fit...

In:  JVR, Chandler

I agree with JVR and Chandler coming in. Give Ben a run with Casey to get a bit of form we want him cherry ripe for the finals, he is under too much pressure playing with the dees to find that form. Casey should give him sufficient opportunity to run into some form the way they have been playing.

JVR seems to have been doing well so deserves Weids spot.  I dont think we should be writing Weids off yet, he has the potential he just has not been able to pull it together, back to casey for him, maybe put on a bit more weight and mass over the summer for next season. Tonight he was manhandled all night long, he needs to be able to fight that.

I would also put Chandler in for ANB, While ABS tackling at times was good there was not a lot more to his game, given he had a fair bit of latitude to roam all over the forward line and still could not pick up too many possessions. He was not clean with the ball and got run down from behind a couple of times. Again give him time with Casey to get himself right.  Chandler needs a chance to step up and fill the gap and possibly claim a finals spot if he is good enough. He knows how to kick goals so would be a handy addition to have.

Sad to say Sam looked lost at times - sure one very good contested mark and goal.  IMO if BBB not ready JVR could not do less - he looks a fierce competitor.

yep re JVR, hard to do less than weids 1 lucky possession. Think it’s time to bite the bullet.

ANB was poor but I would be surprised if he will be dropped.

Weed for anyone would be fine, such a shame he could not take his opportunities.

Chandler waiting in the wings. I think you need to pull the trigger on that one. Spargs and Kozzy did their job. Doubt it will happen though.

How far off is Tom MacDonald?

Apparently they are looking at a VFL game, on the end of season bye round, between round 23 and first week of finals.

Bit weird referring to a young first year kid as "poor old"

How will Weid take Moore out of the game? Brown actually leads up to contests and gets into positions where his opponent has to spoil.

Anyone suggesting that Weid should retain his spot mustn't watch the games.

In: Brown, Harmes

Out: Weid, ANB

As others have said, I doubt that they'll drop ANB, but he was woeful in conditions that suit his game.

Yes to all the above except the putting on more weight issue.  Weid is as big as he gonna get and aint small (weight wise i believe he is sitting on 95/96kgs).  He's in the prime of his athletic shape right now and this last season or two is the time most KFs start turning it on.  That we are considering JVR as a likely replacement at 19 ...kind of says it all.

Weid averages just a smidgen over a goal a game since his debut.  It's not exactly mouth watering stuff from someone who's been in the system for 6 plus seasons now and an average more akin to a half decent small forward.

I would give him one more game to try and show something and allow BB a run at Casey as you suggested.

JVR one more week to see whether he can bring the consistency at that level prior to a debut the following week.

The most realistic likelihood though is if BBB is fit he will get the call up to replace Weideman.  if not i would say Weid will get yet another opportunity vs the Pies.

Personally think JVR was ready for a small entre against Port.  Ship may have sailed there this season.  Goody isn't very daring when it comes to changing personnel.  Would be wise to take note of Casey form though in my opinion and should have blooded JVR and given Chandler his first look (this season) against Port.  Even if they didn't quite cut the mustard, it sends a bit of a reminder to some of the fringe players that their level / effort needs to be high and consistent if they're to keep getting a game in the 22.  You slack off (eg., zero tackles, hardly any pressure acts, not doing the team D things etc) you're out.

WTF? Sparrow was in many Demonlanders votes tonight. His harassment, tackling etc tonight was magnificent.

His kicking wasn’t. Basic errors under little pressure. He slows the game down when he should take it on, and handballs to other mids not expecting the ball. Will be a good player, but Harmes is ahead of him.

I reckon Melksham might get the job.

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
