Great team effort and great to see the team defence back in motion.

Most pleasing was how we chased and harassed till the end, despite the score.

looked more like 2021, keep the hunger.

Just tidied up a bit of business!!

Melbourne now has the best win/loss ratio of any team at Optus Oval.

Ha ha brilliant

That’s our DNA.

We basically don’t lose when May/Lever/Petty are all in and doing their bit. Petty is becoming an incredible player.

Was at the game. Our system was absolutely perfect. I was looking for more pressure ‘effort’ but honestly it wasn’t even needed. Every player on the ground worked in unison in plugging the gaps, peeling off and getting into space.

We completely shut them down and they couldn’t get into the game at all. Very glad I came over!

That's what I'm talking about !!!!

Binman Genius.

Jack Viney - he’s the man that sets the standard - outstanding

Great team effort well done Dees

No Luke Jackson singing the song after the game - wtf is that about

It got messy after the rain and the ground went to crap. Would have been a 12 goal win if it stayed dry.  Hopefully Jackson is ok.  Not in the song for some reason.  Onwards to September we go.

What is this about get paid the free kick when grabbing around the legs, bearing in mind that the direction from maggots is if the tackle slips below the legs it's a free against the tackler

Said earlier today we are going into Flag Mode

Went off with the doctor

Defence is hitting form

Rivers best game for a while, Hibbo going beast mode & Salem regaining some touch

Thank [censored] Brayshaw played well & we won or else Goody would never throw him in the middle again

Probably as good a defensive performance as I've seen from this club over the last two years. Rivers and Hibberd have both slotted back into our defence seamlessly.

Petty is a deadset gun!

Thought I couldn’t see Dogga, did go off injured, maybe still getting treatment?

Loved watching that. We were much cleaner in disposal and steadier than we have been for most of the year (except for a LOT of slipping over or running over the ball). A few passengers but even they had moments of being effective.

Best thing - this was a very Melbourne game. Stifle the opposition and kick classy goals.

Viney the beast again, great to see Brayshaw in the middle, Fritsch is a freak, and our backline back to its best.

Potentially a concussion test?

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #7 Jack Viney

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #8 Jake Lever

The Demon premiership defender who has the reputation the master of intercept possessions as well as great leadership qualities managed only eight senior games this season as he battled injury and form, prompting speculation that he might be enticed to look elsewhere.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #12 Koltyn Tholstrup

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Clayton Oliver, a four-time best and fairest winner at the club, has navigated a challenging period over the past two years, marked by injuries and personal issues, but has demonstrated promising signs suggesting a return to his optimal form in 2025. He is presently contracted to the club for an additional five years, with a substantial annual salary of approximately $1.7 million in the final seasons of his agreement. All at Melbourne are eagerly anticipating his resurgence to his previous peak performance levels.
