We appear to be interchanging Jackson and Weid on the bench rather than one resting forward.

Perhaps we will see a change

We got better as the quarter wore on but low quality fare from both teams thus far

Playing poorly but some woeful umpiring. What really give you headaches is soft frees to them eg Daniher, downfield then blatant mark play on. I know I have red and blue goggles but we get shafted week in week out

Weid looking better in the ruck and around the ground than Dogga 🤣

Funny you say that, I counted at least three times he didn’t even make a contest in the ruck. Either forgot to contend in the forward line or completely mis-timed his jump. He is trying though. It just feels like Dogga isn’t switched on.

Said all week Weid should take most of the ruck

Petracca can’t play in the midfield when he’s not fit. He looks moles off it. He was absolutely spent at the 20 minute mark of that quarter. Something is very clearly wrong with him.

May as well put him forward and roll Koz and Spargs through the guts.

We're showing the run and dash of a Tweed heads prawn trawler

I don't know how we're going to magically get good from Q2. Unsurprisingly, the same issues remain, but worse, because we don't have maxy to save us with his work around the ground, clutch marks etc. Both our goals have been mayhem/lucky.

Going to be a long 3 quarters if we don't come out with a better gameplan, and some cleaner skills/forward connection.

Lever looks better

Sparrow looks better

however our fwd pressure is still terrible

Thought we blocked their run well in the last ten of that quarter. Was a real good patch by us, with the exception of ‘connection’…need to build on it.

Showed a glimpse in the last few minutes but we are just so sketchy with all facets of the game.
Why are Brown and Weideman playing so high?

Because we have no marking target coming out of D50

Was a clear touch by the lions player prior to sparrow marking it

What about the Brisbane guy ripping sparrows head off a split second later

I like Jordan, but needs to get better at hitting targets, both by hand and foot. Turning it over too much at the moment.

I think a little composure will go a very long way in this type of game.

This is a very poor 1 vs 2. You wouldn't believe it if you weren't told the positions on the ladder.

No sign of any attempt to change up our ball movement. So predictable, the opposition set up waiting for it and we have to hope to win every contested ball to move forward.

Screw the umpires. Run harder, make more options, win more contested ball, make more chances.

Lithotomy?

if we dont lift it will be a lobotomy.....

Brisbane had 7 shots from 10 entries. We had 5 from 13.

We badly need to tighten up defensively if we're not going to quickly turn things around offensively.

To be fair we haven’t looked like a top 2 side for a month or more.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
