Only 2 weeks ago people were calling for Fritsch to be dropped / rested, now it’s Brown’s turn….

Weideman in. Brownie to have a rest. Brayshaw maybe out sore too.

Is Ben Brown being rested because of the exhaustion of carrying his 2 kids through the banner?

Not a chance in Demonland of BBB getting rested for Weid.

Best news ever on Ed.

Great news indeed. However, if Ed is feeling the effects of the heavy tackle maybe a weeks rest wouldn't be a bad idea. I"m sure though that Ed would want to play against his old club. Over to you selectors. Viney in if fully fit. Maybe Mitch Brown for Tmac if he has an injury. I think he would offer more than Sam W. imo.

I'm not sure if this is a p155take, but it's sad if true. Even if T Mac's out injured, Weid is no certainty to replace him.

Yes it was a wry observation in response to someone's equally wry p155take.

TMac doesn't handle injury well and Weed shouldn't replace him if he's injured.

I have no updates on my ex's relationship status in a cottage outside Ballarat but she was happily solo when she visited on mother's day.

Carry on..

Brother saw him a couple of weeks ago was definitely hobbling, but by all reports in ripping nick otherwise, rumours of his demise are premature.

NOT A SNOWFLAKES CHANCE IN HELL!!

Out: Langdon, Bedford, Dunstan.

In: Viney, Baker, Weed.

I'd be inclined to leave Dunstan in for a game or three just to see what happens and see if we can't "Melbournise" him. Can't be easy stepping up to AFL level.

Not saying he's going to really make it either, but I'd give him a bit more of a run before we write him off as nothing more than good depth.

Well that word has certainly changed its meaning recently! ♥️

Why would you bring in Weed?

Freos Sam Switkowski has been sent to the tribunal for a chicken wing tackle. I have never heard of him till yesterday.

So is Sam Switkowski any good and how happy are we if he misses next week?

Apparently, Fyfe not playing this week.

Viney and Bedford for Melksham and Dunstan, Dunstan to be the sub

I think Dunstan shows glimpses of real class.

Dunstan can find the pill but his disposal is actually quite poor. Handballs to feet etc.

I can see why the Saints weren't sold on him.

That said he is a more than useful fill in for an inside mid.

Quite good as a small pressure forward.

The second question? Meh.

Jake Lever was quoted in this morning's press assessing Jack Viney as "hopefully touch and go".

That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence that Viney will play this week.

I was grinding my teeth watching his early disposals but he started to settle as the game went on. Just remember he has come in cold to a team that has been very settled. Clarry, Trac, Viney and Gawn know exactly where the other one is going to be. Dunstan will take a while to get used to the pace and make that connection with his team mates.

On a separate note, I would really like to see Bedford get some game time. His chase down of LDU was really something to watch. He has got great pace and endeavour and he can finish around goals okay as well. I’m not sure what his tank is like but I’d prefer to see him in that high half forward role than Melksham.

I often wonder when players do media whether they even know how another player's injury is tracking. It can be obvious when the player is on crutches or in hospital, of course, but I suspect Lever actually has no idea how close Viney is to playing.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
