Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Look I feel ya. I also made the trip but I totally get why many didn’t.
Firstly if you don’t have a home and away membership like me, why would you pay to watch what you know will be a bad game? Secondly that stadium is awful.
Thirdly this start time is a joke, I got home after 9. If you have kids, forget it. And lastly when I have to wait 32 minutes at Southern Cross for a train on Saturday evening after a game of footy, I understand why people stay home. It is a complete disgrace. Almost 2 hours to get home today and I live 45km away not 200km away.

With respect Jaded, I live only 19km from Marvel and I didn’t get home until 10pm. And I’m guessing you didn’t have to contend with junkies aggressively botting cigarettes or money or both. I’m also guessing you didn’t have to sit on a replacement bus opposite a dirty old drunk who every two minutes would ask you how “your bombers” fared tonight.
The thing is, and I’m not having a go at you, nor am I trying to guilt anyone out, if you are determined enough and really do wanna be there, you’ll make it happen. You’ll manifest that [censored]. And despite all the inconveniences you’ll be glad you did.

With the form that we're in, we're losing to Freo (play them twice), Carlton, Sydney, Brisbane twice. Geelong (GMHBA) and maybe the dogs. That's 7-8 losses if we continue to play this poorly.

We haven’t managed to lose to anyone yet that would be a fair effort!

What’s going on right now is a bit like the vaccinations we’ve all been getting lately. A little sample of the latest variant to try and beat us from a side that’s not very good will immunise us if the better teams try it.

We could just refer to them as the Alpha (Hawthorn) and Delta (North) blueprints.

Is there anyone else you would trust on this list from about 40 to 45 out and just beyond?  Maybe Max when he's on?

It's our biggest weakness IMV and something we need to trade in for 2023.

#26 when on song has a great kicking action.

Why are people calling Tom MacDonald “Plugga” lately?

It’s kinda silly bestowing another forward with that nickname (and spelling aside, it’s the same nickname) when that forward is, while a very good player, nowhere near as good as the actual, famous “Plugger”.

Started a long time ago.

Was a poster on here last year liked to deride the teams performance, make predictions like won't make top 4 lucky to make the 8 etc. Strangely been missing since the grand final win.

Agreed, I’m comfortable with it being a free kick. I do genuine believe if roles were reversed (and Pickett has done a couple of spear tackles in the past) that most on here would be saying play on.

Shoe doesn't have to be on the other foot. It was an awesome tackle, a cheapie but perfectly timed. Lingers should have some words to Trac about the hospital handball. Speaking of awesome tackles - Rivers diving horizontally over one of their players and wrapping up another one while in mid-flight! Great to watch.

Just listening to ABC Grandstand talking about the abysmal crowd last night, about 13k they said.

It's very disappointing :/ and listening to the telecast it sounded like there was more North supporters! I mean seriously? A team going awful gets more support than the undefeated reigning premiers?

We have a long way to go before being regarded as a big club.

Did you not learn anything watching the journey that was last year. Remember losing a couple of games just like yesterdays?

I've always thought our Melbourne based supporters were weak as [censored] when it came to attending games away from the G.

The whining from people about Marvel stadium as a reason to not attend a game is mind bending. Who would not want to watch our reigning premier team play when its in the same city?

Re-using THAT nickname is ridiculous, considering it belongs to the greatest full forward of all time.

TMac is fine.

He started getting called Plugger on here after his hot streak in 2018. It reached its peak with the over the shoulder kick to nab the game against West Coast over in Perth.

It’s an ironic term of endearment. I don’t believe anyone actually thinks Tom McDonald is as good as Tony Lockett.

I had an election party to go to, so missed the game. Might go against the external stereotype but lots of Dees are left leaning progressives who had a celebration in mind, rather than win at drablands…

Might help explain the low attendance…

Watching the GWS vs WC game today shows me just how off we are. Gws up by 54 at half time. Instead, we get outplayed by a half. But it's apparently ok because its 'not our style'. It's no surprised Kangaroos outplayed us for a large chunk of the game too.

Next week is a big test because we are miles off at the moment. Like how about our defensive zone after a behind? we just get sliced through with ease every time. Need to short that s*** out asap.

On the flip side, Brisbane aren't putting hawthorn to the sword, so they must be rubbish too, right?

This post is eerily similar to a poster last year that had us dropping well out of the top 4 (from first) with 4-5 rounds to go, predicting we'd lose to nearly everybody.

"The form that we're in" has us with the stingiest defence in the league (assuming Freo concede 9 goals today), and the best percentage. We well may not win every game this year, but we're a better team than last year (objectively, not subjectively) and we didn't lose 7-8 games last year.

I was there. Doesn’t make it any less ridiculous how difficult it is to travel to and from the footy these days, as per your own story above.
Imagine doing that with young kids! I can understand why people are choosing not to go to away games at that dump of a stadium.

i like to think i started that - it was all to do with the fact that his kicking action is eerily reminiscent of the great tony lockett

not to mention that he 'plugs' into roles no matter where he's needed

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
