With the outs I'm not super confident at all.

It's all about system, if we get that right we shut down the Doges and win.

But with a bunch of new back six players trying to gel with that system, we might leak more goals that any of us would like.

Hopefully the mids and forward line fire!

Did they say why Lever is out?

Fireworks is also out. Big losses all around.

Why were there fireworks in the 1st place. Not fussed by that. Hopefully the little leaguers get a crack

No Lever, Hibbo, Rivers or Petty. 4 of our starting defensive 6 last year. Not good.

Will be up to our midfield whether we win or lose this one.

The Basking is over damn it!   This has all come around very quickly.  Can we delay the start of the season for another few months?

OUT: Stefan Martin, Lachie Hunter (Sub) IN: Hayden Crozier, Ryan Gardner

And there's just been an announcement that the half-time fireworks and lights show has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Might as well call the season off.

Tomo May Smith

uh oh

End of the day this will be won in the guts

Defence is shaky but if our team Defence is on and we win contested possession we will win

Backline in all sorts.

Think we are in trouble before game has even started..

Martin out to me suggests dogs have conceded the ruck battle already

max needs to push back hard to help defence

Ok well at least English will spend less time forward with Martin out.

English can certainly take a contested mark up fwd and is a nice kick for goal.

Remember the few times many many years ago when Schwab I'm sure it was came up with the idea to raise the flag after very few of our wins & it was just dumb.

How good is it to see a real flag unveiled. One that says premiers

Still feel embarrassment thinking about those hideous blazers he had the players wearing.

Lever apparently has a foot injury. Hope it's not to serious.

Gee I just want start well & kick straight & bank the points

Anything to be read into Smith spending a lot of his warm up time taking shots at goal from all angles?

🤔

What's all this about the Dogs and dropping Hunter?

Foot = disaster

With 4 backmen out, any sort of win will do

One point does it

I would love to hear that crappy song that the dogs hate us singing playing over the loud speaker while the dogs are doing their warm-up on the ground

Lever being out has definitely dented my confidence, that said Lever didn’t have an insanely good game in the GF. Like always, win from the middle and starve the dogs of chances.

Defensive depth will be well and truly tested tonight. Big ask to cover all of lever, petty, rivers and Hibbo .

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
