Clarry will not let a broken thumb rule him out and break his consecutive games streak. He’ll play against Port

Christ I've spent the day grumpily doomscrolling through the Luke Jackson thread and now this to top it off. Ugh. Hoping he doesn't miss, though 1 week not end of the world. There are bigger games than Port next week in the run home.

Get absolutely [censored] Selwood. You are a piece of [censored]!

So what do you think of Selwood?

Buckley chance of that happening. I still remember the Cats ruckman Steven King rearranging Jeff White’s facial structure with a wild flying boot at a high loose ball. He missed the ball but managed to kick Jeff full on while Jeff at 195 cm was standing nearby. Careless, high Severe injury but no ramifications then.

Shouldn’t  Selwood be cited for this? It was reckless, dangerous and caused injury that could force Clarry out to recover. He should get a couple of weeks for what he did.

That’s only for head knocks I believe.

I would get a lifetime ban if I told you what I really think about this club and their captain.

I can’t stand Selwood but anyone who thinks this is deliberate is clearly delusional. It was a footy act. Stupid and careless yes, and the free was paid.

If we play them again, then we will remember.

This will be only the second game Goodwin has coached without Oliver and the other one he was coaching Essendon.

#$^#%#$ you Selwood. Wasn't even a close to the ground kick.

Selwood's a dirty dog.

Of course he didn’t deliberately kick the hand (or impossible to prove otherwise) but surely it is graded as careless etc.

I also remember that as one of the worst acts I have seen on the field. It was beyond careless- there was malice in it.

Crap news that Clarry is injured. Lucky it’s just the one week. Chance for some other kids to stand up and win the hard ball against Port. Viney might have another huge game.

How can you play properly with a broken thumb?

Ask Clarry. Got like 11 contested possessions after Selwood broke it.
The guy is a freak.

Ch7 reported just bad bruising and no games missed on the news. Thanks a lot crap nuts

If Mark Thompson was still coaching Geelong he’d be blaming Oliver’s thumb for trying to break Selwood’s foot.

Hopefully it’s just the one week and we can adequately cover him for the Port game.

A shame he has to break his 130 game streak due to a reasonably careless reckless, negligent, failing in duty of care, kick from Selwood.

1990 Darren Millane.  Played the last month of the season with it.  Every game he re broke it. Plastered it up during the week, played the next game with it strapped up.  Never been a fan of anything black and white but that was the most amazing thing I've ever seen.  He was still marking the ball and playing incredible footy.  Was a huge reason they broke the 32 year drought.  Oliver has Millane - like courage.

Not an intentional malicious act by Selwood but a soft**** one none the less. Hopefully this doesn’t cost Oliver the Brownlow

If he loses by 1 vote there will be outrage! If a kicking in danger free was paid, why wouldnt the match review panel charge Selwood with reckless and negligent conduct causing injury? Clarry misses a week, so too should Selwood.😡

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
