Its a good feeling not having to hang your hat on what the recruits can bring in their first (or second) year. Let them develop in whatever time it take to make them the best player they can be with no expectations on them to perform straight away.

2021 Premiers with more to come

*Smugly lights cigar and quaffs brandy.

If his demons career works out Taj will never be that tanned again in his life.

His hair might turn blonde though

Hopefully these kids wont need to be rushed through next year

Another three quality kids coming into the club let’s just hope that they are knocking the door down when they are needed, agree Jibroni no external pressure on our four newbies.👍🙏

Judd McVee, Jacob Van Rooyen and Taj Woewodin on an Instagram photograph that appears to have been taken at an airport. It looks like they’re taking their first flight into Demonland.

Good luck lads!

"appears to have been taken at an airport"...that Perth Airport written on the TV above Woewodin's head is a bit of a giveaway. Otherwise I would have thought a Kalgoorlie shopping mall, maybe?

Pet's name "Judd", childhood address "McVee St"?

Jason Taylor didn’t even mean to pick him, he just saw his name on paper and felt compelled to say it out loud

Hopefully Van Rooyen kicks 3 in a Premiership winning GF. He is only an injury to BBB, TMac and possible Weid away from being in the team.

We’re the reigning premiers. There’s no obvious need to rush kids through in their first seasons at the club just as we didn’t rush our 2020 draft selections last year. Jake Bowey wasn’t picked to play for us until Round 20. Bailey Laurie had some injury issues during 2021 and played only a handful of games at Casey. Fraser Rossman was a late pick who was never going to be ready last year. We’re in a good position but don’t discount Van Rooyen who played some senior football with Claremont early last year before getting glandular fever.

He has a real Mac DeMarco vibe to him

It’s a name that will be easy to remember.!!

Nothing nearly that fancy, or dust free, in Kal.

Dee J McVee works, though McVee Dee should be avoided...

Sounds like what you can pick up at the drive through of Frankston Maccas

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
