I'm hearing positive things about Dogga staying for a couple of years

Thanks Danny.

I think 2 years for Jackson and Brayshaw make sense. Hopefully we have more flags in that time and Dogga's value will have increased and Gus's won't decrease.

We'll have a clearer picture of succession, if necessary, by then. And they'll have more flags.

Now that English is signed for 2 years, I can't see LJ signing for anymore than that (which is what i think he will do), in 2 years time those two will be the big story again around going back west, and by then NicNat will be finished but WC might be on the up again.

He remains close with Trent, his parents are happy with his welfare at the club, he wants to repay the draft faith and the decision to give him an extended break in Perth pre-season, the offer is as flexible as he needs it to be, he wants to continue learning from Max and he generally isn't motivated by money or stardom.

I'm assuming this is all guess work. He may well be close friends with Trent, but his closest circle of friends are in Perth. Rivers returned to Melbourne after the GF to be with his girlfriend. Jackson hung out in Perth with his mates.

He really doesn't strike me as someone holding out for cash.

This is some performance.

His role as a number 1 ruckman tonight has been nothing short of super tonight.

Gets rag dolled at times during ba ups but that's a non issue for me considering how young he is against a much bigger opponent.

Just goes to show how much we need to try and keep him. He is a superstar at 20.

He seems happy. The crowd gave him so much love. Goody was beaming when he came off and Jackson was smiling from ear to ear.
If he leaves I’m comfortable that we’ve done our best by him and I’ll always thank him for that third quarter…

He was sensational. If he stays then fantastic, and if he leaves he’s going to leave on an astronomical contract offer that will mean we get a LOT in return.

Imagine if we took Lachie Ash or Dylan Stephens and Jackson went somewhere else? We would be furious.

Meggs was in a corporate box tonight with mostly WA supporters.  The Weagles supporters are a mostly disinterested lot in 2022 but the Freo ones are convinced they are getting Dogga and Gus (though they couldn’t recall his name)…

Luke, the force is strong with this one…what a game!

Keeping him long term just got a lot harder...   But short term may be real.  His comments post game about being surrounded by Trac, Oliver and Viney in the ruck made me think that he has to be aware of what a good thing he's been gifted.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
