As hard as I try, I have given up trying to understand what this sentence means.

Should that be "and"?

Yes correct.

Melbourne get Freo's first rounder and future first rounder.

Fremantle get Luke Jackson, the compensation pick we get for losing Angus Brayshaw and a seconder rounder.

This is fair and reasonable recompense according to Freo supporters on Bigfooty.

(The LJ for Bailey Banfield and Ethan Hughes took the cake though)

Basically we give them LJ, Brayshaw (because lets face it, he wont go anywhere else) and the compensation pick we get for Brayshaw and our second rounder for two first round draft picks.

That would be a terrific deal!   For Fremantle.

WCE has a better pot of gold for us I feel, if LJ was to leave. LJ is young enough that the Eagles could afford to spend 3 - 5 years building around him. History tells us they've been a lot more efficient than that rebuilding teams in the past.

If the eagles are realistic about rebuilding with honesty, they'd be looking to improve the draft positioning by offloading some players that may have value to other teams, thinking McGovern, Yeo, Darling, Sheed, Barrass, Gaff (for example).

Packaging some of those guys could net them a bounty of picks, to add to the likely No. 1 they get this year and another top 5 pick next year.

A number of those players are well established in Perth with young families.  At their ages it is most unlikely they will agree to leave to go East or North East.

And not sure that there are many clubs who have a need for those players.  Most clubs except North are ticking along nicely with their list rebuilds.

Seems to me that we have 3 major contract issues.

1. Oliver

2. Jackson

3.Brayshaw

To get them all done satisfactorily would be a terrific win.

To get two of them done with a couple of first rounders or satisfactory player swap  coming our way would be a pass.

To get only one done would seem to be a fail IMO

If it can be established that Freos $10 mill over 7 offer is real ( which l very much doubt) then why would we want to be in a silly deal like that?  Performance based $7 mill over 7 much more realistic maybe.

Can anyone name one player who has gone back to the West willingly and played as well as he did in Melbourne?

118 games for us. 259 goals and 1299 touches.

131 games for them, 224  goals and 1577 touches.

Not by a big margin but he played his best footy for us.

"At 20, industry experts suggest a fair deal at Melbourne would be around $800,000 per season and be in line with deals for young stars Sam Walsh, Ben King and Max King."

$800,000 is overs i reckon

And I'd take either of the King boys instead of him

Yeah I'd be annoyed if we end up paying Jackson that much.

Next few games we will see if he’s worth 800k or not.

For 800K for his position I’d expect about a dozen games where he has finished in the top 5 players on the ground.

Not sure he has done that tbh. He’s maybe had 2-3 games at most.

Id say for LJ, the offer should be in the range 500-600K for 2 years. The contract after that would be the payday if he is indeed worth it.

Hassa wasn't from the West.  He was recruited from Rutherglen and was a Merbein boy.

He was my first footy idol and I had his number 29 on my first ever Demons jumper!

I dont think the Q. Was return to the west..

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
