The Perth fish bowl can eat you up and spit you out pretty quick.. just ask Hogan.

Not entirely sure Jackson and his family really took that into consideration when they were pressuring him to come back.

100%. And the Freo fans have a huge chip on their shoulders because of how poor they have been for the majority of their existence and Eagles fans remind them every week.

You could see exactly how it would go when they had jumpers with 'Jackson' on them at our game there last year. Ridiculous.

Jackson  and Weideman are no longer MFC players I don't wish them ill but some players want to go home or a new start and we cannot judge them after 1 game.

They will either prosper or fail but they wont be doing it in MFC colours.

They were bagging him out the moment the trade happened.  That was my biggest worry, that they'd treat him the same way as they treated Hogan. They're vipers at Freo

Or the way many Dees supporters treated Lever after the trade done for him?

I hope we don't see the same this year if we play Port in Adelaide... I can imagine those ferals wearing Kozzy jumpers 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

That's an impressively mixed metaphor!

They're in different situations. Jackson left for money and to go home, the Weed could never really get a run at it and would get more opportunities elsewhere

I'm not aware of any horrible treatment Lever got from Melbourne supporters.  I for one was massively excited. If there were Melbourne supporters treating him horribly then shame on them.

As I have pointed out for 10 years here . . . not one player in the last 40 years has gone back to Perth of their own volition and been as successful as they were in Melbourne. Arguably, Wiz came the closest.

Luke Jackson will be a star of the comp barring injury.

One off game does not a young tall make.

Some harsh comments from freo fans.  The other forwards Treacy and Taberner did no better.  Freo had 65 inside 50 for a mere 17 scoring shots.  The ball seemed to ping pong between the 50m arcs.

So not entirely Jackson's fault.  But I guess with his money and the fanfare around him fans aren't going to look for reasonable explanations.

However, Jackson played 85% game time.  At the dees he usually played about 70% +/-; a 20% increase.  My guess is he isn't fit enough/have the endurance to get through a game.

And one wonders where his head is at.  He tuned out last year when he knew he was leaving.  Maybe the same is happening now that he has his long term mega million contract.

Weed on the other hand looked in ripping nick.

Weed has done himself no favours by taking John Coleman's number 10.

I'm going to ask Hasleby for this week's lotto numbers.

That article was written before yesterday's game, and sure enough Jackson went onto to have a game to temper Freo fans expectations for 2023.

If there was a man capable of not thinking too deeply about criticism, Dogga is that man 😂

As many others in this thread have said, Fremantle have paid a LOT for potential and will need to be patient. Jackson is still learning his ruck craft & is not a clean mark (always two grabs).  Time will tell.

Now that's drawing a long bow!  Coleman last played about 70 years ago.  :D

I see the Weid kicked 2 goals 1 yesterday.

Maybe, but they did name the goal kicking award after him.

That was a fantastic piece of play. He meant that, and delivered it perfectly to Mr Ed. The ball bounced up right on cue

How many people today do you reckon would have the faintest clue what number Coleman wore?

There have been eight players since him and before Weid to wear the number ten at Essendon.

It's like saying that Brodie Grundy has done himself no favours by taking Fred Fanning's number six.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
