Is very clearly struggling with injuries.
If he stays I will be delighted. If he leaves I’ll be absolutely furious.

Very clear...he just didn't have the leap to get over opponents that he generally does.

Will be a very good player, yet to be seen where.

Congratulations, we’ve hit 200 pages of speculation!

Hope Freo make the GF, we could get to 300 if that happens.

If Freo get rolled this week I expect an announcement this week. Is that unrealistic? Goodwin made it sound like they expect to know in the coming days.

exit interviews will be tuesday

he'll confirm then that he wants to leave to freo, which is pretty much a fait accompli if you believe the media reports

Goody's comments at the presser were interesting, suggesting the season is out and he expected a decision in the next few days ... obviously the trade period isn't for some time so in theory it can drag out much longer as manager may want teams to up their offers and compete for his signature ... if he makes a decision in the next few days then he is gone in my view

Jacksons a great guy, but unfortunately has not been pretty average this later half of the year. For a guy so tall and mobile his stats have not been great. i wonder if its because his heart is not in it, that in his mind he has already left and just going through the motions.

actually scratch that - exit interviews can't start until after casey's season finishes

That's correct, I thought you were jumping the gun a bit.

It has been frustrating to watch him in his past few games. In great position to mark but drops them all.

I reckon he’s been hampered since he got that knee injury in July. Not had the same leap or drive in his running.

Too many people here are being harsh on Jackson. He is still young so inconsistencies will still be a part of his game. He could turn out to be a gun so if he wants to go home trade hard.

Agree with that, but got his hands to about 12 marking chances and held one. That’s not his knee’s fault. Handballed to guys with opposing players all around and cost us multiple goals last night. Also not the fault of his knee.

Lets face it he had a mare in the finals.

He is demanding an outrageous contract, it’s going to be so much worse for him next year.

I fear his career will go down the same path of Scully/Boyd. Over paid based on potential and not ready to perform consistently like a player on 800k plus.

At least I know it won’t be us dealing with that contract.

Perf journo’s convinced he’s not much chop and either WA club should only cough up one first rounder at the most.

How do you know LJ is demanding anything other than potentially wanting to go to his home state? He has no say in what Freo are willing to offer him contractually.

Come on, let's not be nuffies about this.

I think the club managed this issue as best they could but it can't have had anything other than a destabilising effect. I'm tired of it at this stage. If the kid wants to go home let him, get the best deal we can and move on

Nothing I've seen of Jackson so far tells me that he wasn't worth pick 3. The fact that he's proved it means he's worth more on the open market. Pick one or two. Or two top ten picks. Or a proven top 5 player such as Hayden Young and a future pick.

Of course that will be hard to extract. But that's what he's worth and the club will be asking for something in that range.

How many times last night did Dogga run too far under the ball? It’s like he is trying to avoid as much body contact as possible, meanwhile poor old Max gets hit from pillar to post continually putting his body on the line. He’s gotta fix that part of his game, regardless of where he plays next year.

But many grabs.

Bit like that Citroën FD - up and down.

I noticed he was at the Casey game today with several of his teammates. You'd think if he was planning on announcing he's out in the coming days that he might not be in attendance. Or I could just be reading too much into it.

He had a poor year after a bright start (he was excellent in the early rounds and the two Brisbane H&A games). I still hope he stays even if it's extremely unlikely. I just don't see how a Gawn/Grundy combo can work going forward.

I would love Hayden Young and he would be a fantastic long term replacement for Salem when his career is over.

However, he just signed a long term contract with Freo and clearly won’t be going anywhere.

When he took the ball out of the ruck in the first few minutes last night and had a ping for goal, I thought "He's on here" unfortunately that was the highlight of his whole night.

I get that he's young, and inconsistency goes hand-in-hand with that.

Unfortunately, a trend that has emerged is his seeming inability to take one-grab marks. That's a trait players either have by the time they get to AFL level, or never acquire. It's one thing for a midfielder, but definitely not great for a ruckman/forward.

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
