Industry sources in the realestate industry are also saying that prices of properties are falling by as much as what interest rates are increasing...

Were we to win another flag this year 🤞, I’d bare no ill will if Jacko left.

Of course id much rather him stay, but if I were to see a flag in person, on top of finally see us raise the cup last year (all be it from here in Melbourne), then all would be right in the world.

we should be targeting sustained success and identifying key pillars in that vision. Players like Sparrow, ANB, Spargo, you love them and you're glad they're along for the ride but they are ultimately replaceable. Guys like Jackson and Brayshaw are part of a group of 5-6 players that are truly once in a generation types at their position. It's a bit like playing NBA 2K22 My Team and landing multiple diamond players for your squad. You don't trade them out for more card packs in the hope you'll land more diamond players. You keep them for as long as you can. Three years of Jackson ain't enough and anything less than him being a Demon For Life would really hurt.

I agree with what you are saying, but I think Tom Sparrow is going to get a lot better.

If the $$$ involved mean we keep Brayshaw and lose Dogga - I'm OK with that.  Brayshaw is far more important IMV

And we will get serious compensation for trading jackson at the $$$ involved - 2 top 10 and an emerging star would be going rate for a million dollar per year contract. Or top 10 and their Brayshaw. It's going to cost them plenty if they think he's worth the dollars reported

I’d love to snag the other Brayshaw, but has anyone thought where we would actually play him?

Can we rename this thread? It’s a pain to open it up and there’s just endless speculation but nothing concrete.
Maybe change the name of the thread to speculation about Luke Jackson.

That's his brother, Ben.

Ah yes, my mistake. My head went to the one more likely!

Cal Twomey on AFL exchange reckons there's a growing consensus around the league that Jackson is going to request a trade.

Any news about house hunting or Mordialloc coffees today?

Haha, this thread read a lot better back in October. Some claimed it was a done deal back then and an announcement was just around the corner. We do get some great mail on here, was really hoping this one was on the money back then.

Just hope he nominates the Eagles now.

[censored] dealing with bell again, and we might get something close to his value if he goes to the Eagles.

Probably based on the fact that he hasn’t re signed by now.

Interesting that other big names at other clubs, like Neale and English, already have.

That means Gus is requesting a trade too then - the sky is falling 🙄

Really hope there's a shipment of pens coming to MFC, if anyone sees a BIC truck outside the club let us know.

If he does go need to play hardball. If it is go home factor west coast have to be in the mix . Prefer him to go into the draft and get nothing than get late first rounder and steak knives from freo.

I think Gus will stay

Must be a very long straight.

He’s leaving, and I reckon Gus Brayshaw is gone too unless we can get Andrew B as a trade for Dogga

Why the facepalm @Young Blood?

A lot of water to go under before that happens. But if Dogga does in fact want to go to the Eagles, I think they will split pick 2 into a couple of 1st rounders in the teens. Then offer us one of those and a 2nd rounder (about 20).

Yeah, no.

Luke is a former pick 3 whose value has only gone up.

Gus going where?

We are fighting the W.A diaspora. Scores 0-0 at the 85 minute mark. Nativist sentiment of gun players V POSSESSION IS 9/10ths of the law.

I find it hard to reconcile his obvious joy and happy demeanour after the game last week with his desire to leave. Obviously he’s thinking about leaving otherwise he’d have signed by now but I don’t think he’s definitely gone by any means.

And if he does decide to go I’ll be pretty peeved he didn’t go last year when we had a chance to trade in cerra

That just means opinions are swinging that way, not facts

it means buyer beware recruiting anyone from WA, especially if they are any good.

I guess it depends which way you look it at.

If you take a short term view and we win back to back flags with LJ playing 2 good grand finals, then you'd say the recruitment was a roaring success, we shake his hand and get some good compensation.

If you take a long term view, it's an absolute disaster to lose a pick 3 that the club clearly had a 15 year view of that player being the number one ruck and franchise player of the club, irrespective of what state they're from.

I think Taylor and Co. will avoid WA (and even other states) if we ever get a prized pick again (i.e. - top 5)

Goodwin seemed to be pumping up Jackson's price in his presser today. Read into that what you wish.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
