Interesting watching the swans. Game

rivers went behind the goal line hung on by a swans player, rushed behind , swans player dumped rivers to the ground well after the crossing . Swans got 50 m penalty. Also levers push was a joke , swans player did not correctly dispose of ball when tackled . Lever should have had the free

I keep saying ( to my fellow golfers who have reminded me about 186 for years )that we had 2 Practice Matches against Geelong :

1 To see how much of a start we could give them and still win.

2 : To show them how much we could win by when we play fair dinkum.

I wonder why nobody wants to play golf with me !!!

About a million pages back I asked if RDB's reaction had been shown anywhere. Still silence? I hope he's OK. He was up to the sort of stuff the media craved pre-game but I wonder if that's the case for post-game...

Underrated moment in the game:

In the second quarter after the Bulldogs kicked three and had all the momentum Jackson took an excellent contested mark on the wing.

But then he went back, used the new man on the mark rule to his advantage and ran clearly wide of the stationary player on the mark which allows him to execute a beautiful long kick to Brown who kicked a goal.

Great moment - awful rule.

Im thinking about great players that never won a  flag, Ablett, Plugger, Robert Harvey, Riewoldt, Skilton and our great players and I look at Bowey in his 7th game win one.

Then I chuckle to myself to look at everything Dangerfield has achieved and the only thing that alludes him is the one thing our players have got. He must look at Bowey and Sparrow and think how the hell did you get one.

The youngest players in a premiership side are always going to get one early. And Marlion Pickett got a premiership in his first game in 2019 and by the time he'd played 20 games he had two.

It was the one on her left you should be worried about. Need to see the replay to know who I am referring to.

haven't seen these posted yet. Unbelievable pictures from after the game in the rooms.

bedford and Laurie etc being embraced like they were in the ground is heart warming.

Can’t see Big Ben Brown in any of them. Perhaps he was with the drug testers. Imagine that, having to be kept separate from the celebration until you can produce the sample. Talk about Grand Final pressure.

Interesting comments from Cody Weightman here. Probably not what Doggies fans want to hear (which might be why it wasn't highlighted in the subsequent article on the doggies website).

'The Bulldogs had a much longer road to the Grand Final than eventual winners Melbourne, but Weightman doesn't believe it was the reason the Dogs lost so heavily.

"The way we approach this will be interesting. I think we've got the group to go one better next year and I hope this can carry us further," he said.

"It's hard to know. We've become so good at being resilient and copping whatever comes our way. It wasn't any different to what's happened in the past few years. I think Melbourne were just too good on the day, really, and whether we travelled or not, they probably still win that game, unfortunately."'

Great piece from the club, well cut. Would've loved the "It's Coming Home" line from Max in there though.

Gives me lot of respect for Cody actually.

I watched the replay again last night and simply cannot believe he did not get a concussion test after smashing into the post and then hitting the the ground with such force in the first quarter.

He was running flat out and jumped in the air and his head hit the padded part of the post really hard.

When he fell his head didn't hit the ground but did whiplash really badly, and it my understanding that sort of movement is the cause of a lot of concussion (ie the brain moving inside the skull and hitting the skull).

Who knows if it was factor in his performance, as he was never in the game after that, but is no stretch to think it might have been .

I was amazed at the time there was no concussion test and doubly so last night - particularly given he was returning from a concussion i would have thought.  I mean the double head impact was crystal clear and they have an obligation to check his health and keep him safe.

And I was equally amazed that not one Channel 7 commentator questioned whether he should have been getting a concussion test. They showed the replay at least once and there was not a peep about why he was being tested.

Perhaps it is yet another example of the problem of having ex footballers dominate the coverage of the game. There was another example when Bont bumped Oliver's head - Podgy immediately and instinctively said there was no problem and that Oliver would be fine. Oliver was clearly hurt and was down for a while. When he did get up, Podgy says words to the effect of there you go he's fine. So much for the head being sacrosanct.

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
