I'm basically the same, although I think Syd beat GWS.

I'm most scared of the Cats - and would love them to go out in straight sets, but I think its out of them and us (whether we meet them in the PF or GF).

Port to Smash Geelong

Syd to Destroy GWS

Ess to Annihilate Dogs

DEES TO OBLITERATE Brisvegas🤪

Swans midfield without Mills and Kennedy against one of the best midfields in the comp? Just can't see likes of Buddy, Papley getting enough supply. GWS by three goals.

Essendon might be a bit like us in 2018 after a finals drought. Enthusiasm and emotion count for plenty in finals. Dons by five goals.

Cats will beat Port. Cameron/Hawkins to play blinders.

Dees to beat Lions. Would love for us to hit them hard early and then keep them at arms length for the rest of the game.

I’ve said it since the start of the year, but I think Sydney are a huge chance and along with Geelong are the biggest threats to us.

sweet jesus, I don't think I could take watching us in the GF against the Cats

I'll be in the fetal position checking the scores every 20 minutes

I have us playing the Cats in the prelim and Port in the GF

what could go wrong??!?

Get the feeling the Lions are the most in form team in it at the moment, Cats last 3 they're 1-3 and only fell over the line against the Saints,

we're 4-0 and in good shape injury wise and should beat the Lions but i see them as our biggest threat.

I think we can feel confident against anyone else

i have a horrible feeling this thread is going to coax Dr D out of the woodwork to produce yet another factual prediction of doom and gloom. I believe his last one, based on his ability to know more about football than any other numbskull on demonland, had us dropping from 1st to finish 5th and feeling grateful to be in the 8 at all. My skills as a budding Nostrodamus have Dr D predicting we exit the finals in straight sets 😜

Lets hope so given everything he's ever posted has been wrong, it would just about guarantee us the flag

Week 1

Port

Syd

Dogs

Week 2

Bris

Week 3

Melb

Week 4

Melb

Week 1 (When hope turns into happiness /despair)

Port to hold off a fast finishing Cats by 5 points

Bombers to cause an upset and knock out the Dogs (who look completely lost right now) by 17 points

Melbourne to put in a 4 quarter professional performance and defeat Brisbane by 22 points (even after a 3rd quarter fightback from the Lions)

GWS to be the anti-GWS and out grind the grinding Swans in a 2 point thriller

Week 2 (Usually the most one-sided week of finals)

Lions to take care of the Bombers by 30-36 points. Just too strong and the Bombers will run out of momentum.

Cats to defeat a gallant GWS by 20-25 points. The benefit of this matchup is that Geelong's older playing list will be hanging on by a thread.

Week 3 (The Cox Plate -The best weekend of Football all year)

Demons to overrun a lethargic but determined Geelong with a last quarter 6-8 goal blitz. Dees by 30-40 points.

Port Adelaide in another Preliminary Final classic but this time it goes the way of the Power. Port to defeat Brisbane by 2 points.

Week 4 (The one where we win the whole F*cking thing)

Grand Final will be held at Optus Stadium.

A heavyweight title fight between the best 2 teams of the home and away season.

After a tough 3 quarters where both sides have momentum but can't take advantage, I have the Dees in front at 3/4 time by 4 points. The lead won't blow out to more than 12 points for either side during the game.

Our superior fitness will see us push out to a 24 point lead with 7 minutes to play.

Port will kick a goal to bring it back to 18 points with 6 minutes to go.

A steadier from Ben Brown will take the margin back out to 24 with 4 and a half to play.

The "built for finals" gameplan will see us run the clock down with stoppage after stoppage for a 23 point win.

And hit them hard late, and hit them hard in the in-between bits. Surely the ticker gets a rest this week.

Hope we can relax more easy than last weeks game, and have a very handy 6 goal lead from the start😏

Dream big😉

Yep i agree. Have never seen it so tight

Meth Coke and Richmond were pretenders this year. Their replacements will have a Red Hot go

I have a vision/hope Charlie Spargo lights up one final with the first 3 goals of the game

I fear the 5-8 teams more than the 2-4 to be honest.
Not that any team in the finals isn't good, just that the Bulldogs, Swans, Giants and Bombers all have traits that aren't negated as easily by our strengths.  So I'm very happy to see them eliminate each other before too many of them get through to us (assuming we can do the job against the Lions.
I don't rate Port Adelaide particularly highly, but they could be blessed with two home finals in front of a crowd.

It's easy to be in good form when your last three games are against Fremantle, Collingwood and West Coast.

It's also easy to drop a game or two when your last three games are against GWS, St Kilda and Melbourne.

IMO, Brisbane's and Essendon's formlines are mirages.

Port's and GWS' formlines are far stronger.

Justin Longmuir is tipping either Geelong or Brisbane as premiers.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
