First off, I’m in shock and I couldn’t be prouder. Secondly, I couldn’t watch Max’s kick, I had to wait for my parents reaction. Thirdly, **** you cats, sucked in!!!!!

I will say this, I think the cats came into that final quarter thinking already ahead to next week and where they might play it. That is their fault, and I bet you the Goody and Max told the players to fight.

So proud, not going to sleep tonight. We are top of the ****ing ladder, I of course want us to win the premiership but this is proof that we are the best team this year!

Blessed are the Dees, for they can beat anyone from anywhere.

Such an emotional experience, but then I've always loved roller-coasters.

Go Dees!

I wasn't able to watch live, but recorded and am watching now.

We are 44 down with 7 mins left in the 3rd.

I gather it would be worth my while to stick it out?  😎😁

We took the red pill.

And the blue one.

Goody might be Morphius. Which makes Clarry, Neo

I've changed my mind, can we play the GF at the Cattery? Hahahaha.

Actually might not be all that bad an idea if the Cats are not in it.

Nah

G.O.R.N.

Clayton Oliver is surely the best midfielder this club has ever had

After getting smashed in the second quarter he absolutely set the standard for us to pull that back in the last quarter

What a superstar

I'm bloody emotional.

Take a bow Simon Goodwin. This is absolutely on you in being able to motivate the players to get back into the game.

To our leaders, Max, Lever, Oliver, Petracca were all immense! Was really strong throughout the game that they simply needed to stand up and they did.

Season 2 starts now. By Monday morning my attention turns straight to Brisbane.

Soak it up lads. We're bloody minor premiers since 1964 💙

Everyone has already covered how great the win was, but the deliberate out of bounds was screwed us all night the ones paid against and the ones not paid for

Ho hum, yet another regulation win.  :D

First time in our long history that we've won a game with a kick after the siren and some form of poetic justice served given how Max missed a similar match-winning chance against Geelong a couple of years ago.

Yep, Karma’s a girl dog!

I turned it off in the 2nd Quarter

Wow 😮 i am stunned

Big Max. That’s what Captain’s do

Oliver a machine

I wait for the replay….

Any chance of handballing the Powerball numbers too? You called this at 44 points down! Nostradamus eat you heart out......

When lever had the ball I said straight away kick it to max. He was in the perfect position. It was a good kick.

My god the belief this team has is unbelievable.

I wrote them off. Turned it off after the 7th goal in a row, was getting MFCSS from the 2018 Eagles Prelim I saw in Perth.

Watched the last 10mins, turned it off at 37seconds when Brayshaw was given deliberate. Got out of bed - punched the couch and checked the scores. Couldn’t understand how Gawn could have goaled. Still in disbelief.

No one will ever do what we did and go 44 points down at Kardinia Park and win. We’ve seen history today and not just the first minor premiership since 64’.

Special thanks to Brad Close for the 50m penalty and to big Max for aging my comments about us being put in a spliff. We put the Cats in a spliff. Bring on the Lions!

I'm incredibly grateful for every call that went against us. For we would not have had that ending.

Unbelievable, thank you MFC, what a game. The emotions I and my family feel for this club and even moreso through Covid lockdown you have given us so much.

Monkey off the back, to win the minor premiership in Geelong where the demolition occurred and for our caption to win the game after the siren it was the best script.

Job half done, let's bring the same intensity and string 3 games together like that.

Well done MFC. I love our club!

We can now lay 186 to rest for ever.

Just one curse left. The curse of Norm Smith.

Seriously what a game what a win and what a round of footy. That is easily the best win I can remember. When Clayton Oliver plays like that and kicks goals there are not many players better than him in the competition love him.

Tracc cries, I cry.

I have never felt more elated, my love for this club knows no bounds.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
