Fair to say not much optimism there...

  • The only question in this one is, will be lose by more goals than I drink beers for the day ?

Gold!!  Already on the beers!!????

Not only is it critical to win the game but % may be vital come finals

Absolutely.  Might the the diff between a top four or two finish.  While it's important to stick to Goody's system, i hope the importance of putting the foot down is emphasised big time in this one.

My mother in law is a mad Hawks fan. She told me last night she really hopes we don't stuff up and lose because she can't wait for us to beat Geelong in finals.

Hawks fans are done with 2021.

My ex father in law was a Hawk fan and he was the nastiest football bully [censored] you could ever imagine. Relentless recall of every dagger that meant way more to me than him.

For all of us born in the late 60s or early 70's make no mistake Hawthorn are the enemy. I hope we smash them by heaps and O'meara does a career ending knee. At a minimum!

Yeah I get that at work a bit too, had a filth fan say it to me, as I work down Geelong way it’s mostly cats supporters. I’ll need a new job if we lost a GF to them.

I’ll need a lot of rehab if we lost to them. My soul could not take it.

Yes, and notice how Andy didn’t call people derisive terms while he posted the above.

It can be done!

I love being a good club.

We ain’t there yet, but yes, the ride so far is fun

I get uneasy when I read these negative comments from rival clubs. .We have been here so often in the recent past and it has invariably  ended in tears .Please not again.

Agreed.

As well as our team has been playing over the course of the season and where we sit on the ladder, we still have losses to the Crows, Pies and GWS plus have been pushed all the way by Essendon. All currently bottom 10 teams.

Can anyone really be 100% confident we will win? I don’t feel that yet.

We are $1.08 to beat Hawthorn $8. Can’t ever remember seeing our odds so short.

For as long as the Demons are doing well I will be looking for games with a chance to inflict at 186 on a 'deserving' opponent.

Decapitating the Hawks sounds good to me.

And it is time we began getting our attack in shape.

Rubbish.

Way too late.

Our family is half Geelong, half Melbourne. A GF or even finals loss to Geelong would be a nightmare in our family.

The only Hawk is my wife who wouldn't even know when the Hawks are playing.

I hope we pummel Hawthorn and I actually think we will.

I like the sentiment, but barely anything I've seen from us this season suggests to me we are really up for getting anywhere near 186.

I guess the one and only time we have handed out anything like a belting this season, it was against the Hawks and most of the scoring for our ~50 win against them came in just one quarter, but I'm just not sure I can see it happening.

Would love to be proven wrong though.

bad weather conditions should dampen high scoring prospects......but we shall see

How good is it to be taken seriously by opposition supporters?! They are actually afraid of us. This is weird, I could get used to it though?

The calibre of Hawthorn supporters.
This fool got a clip after smacking a Melbourne supporters drink from his hand after getting done a couple years back.
Then cried "Poor innocent me." to the media.

Let the tanking talk begin.

I've been thinking that for a while but now their 4 time premiership coach has been moved on he doesn't have much incentive to tank.

The Hawk fan? I could really, really hurt him.

Come on... this isn't a Collingwood forum. Let's not wish injury on a player.

A fan base resigned to its fate. No more arrogance there. I almost feel sorry for them.

Almost

Almost

I heard the other day that Hawthorn fans are currently enduring their 2nd longest premiership drought since 1971. It'll take more than a century of wooden spoons before I start feeling sorry for them!

They'll be at the bottom for a while because they stuffed up there recruitment big time. Patton, Scully. Wingard (traded out burton to get him in). Chickens coming home to roost. Good luck Sam Mitchell. You'll need it.

Fair enough. I hope he does 2 career ending knees in  the same incident then. This is Hawthorn.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
