B. Brown coming in this week compared to last week makes literally no sense from a form perspective.

Goodwin says because of the 5 day break he was on limited minutes, so that means by Saturday evening, after the GWS loss, he had decided Brown would play the following week and hence gave him limited minutes.

Sounds like Goodwin has made the decision based off how [censored] our forward line was on Saturday afternoon. He’s then pulled the trigger, and not even considered how well Brown’s latest VFL game went.

So, why exactly didn’t he pick him for the Giants?

Not picking Brown after Essendon was a mistake, but an honest one - it was just one game. After 2 weeks in a row of poor forward connection, why compound the mistake?

Just get him in, we all cried, and Goodwin did that.

What do you want? A personally signed apology from Goodwin to you?

Agree. But the reality is that a big mistake was made not picking Brown last week (or making any material change to the forward structure for that matter), but he would have to admit that, and he won't, so it's easier to say... Ben's (now) ready!! BOOM!

(I hope stubborn Goody is not creeping back, it looked like his better company was helping him make better decisions this year, last week was not one of them...)

Hope he doesn't stink it up and make us all look like fools now. ?

Sorry, what else were you expecting?

Of course he made the decision based off our form vs GWS! That's precisely how it's supposed to work!

Ok we’ve picked Brown, that’s part one. Part two is that we actually look for his leads and hit them up. Regardless of whether we have Brown or not we have to start looking for options inside 50 rather than bombing away.

I just can’t get over how every time a team welcomes back a gun player from long term injury it’s against us. Every. Single. Time.

Are you sure that's not just the MFCSS talking, Jaded?  I can't believe that's true.

Anyone surprised there's been nothing on the MFC website around our captain Max Gawns 150th game?

Hi all,

Anyone have thoughts on who might play on Jacko forward? Is Clurey likely to line up on him or would he be too short? Might be a good opportunity for him to get in the goals.

Forward setup looks better. I wonder if we will be smart or skillful enough to use it properly?

This exactly. Having a stronger and more 'talented' forward line helps covers up our decencies with ball use into 50.

But if we keep butchering the ball if forwards have space and separation its not going to matter.

No, I’m talking about Brown’s form. He was in form after the Essendon VFL game, and ready to be picked. Goodwin has then realised his mistake of not picking him and corrected it. I applaud him for correcting it, but every week is 4pts.

Haha that would be nice! But in all seriousness we were crying out after the Essendon game!

Let’s hope the mids kick it to bb on the lead rather than dump it on his head in the hope he takes mark of the year each time.

BB it’s time to stand and deliver, take your chance.

I seriously couldn't find that? I went on the MFC before and there was nothing on there.

Thanks for this though.

The good thing about Brown playing is that he has an outside chance of marking one of tracc's passes given his height.

Any other player and it is kicked  a foot over their head.

Come to think of it he missed Max by a foot in rbe ladt q, so perhaps Brown needs to pop Charlie on his shoulders

Wouldn't surprise me if this is Max's directive

Focus on the business

On the Gus & Gawny podcast Max was pretty self effacing. He said that 100 games for Ed Langdon was a bigger milestone.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
