Neale and Lester are significant upgrades on Mathieson and Madden, albeit Neale might be underdone.

Brisbane are imposing, but whilst it's true they've won their last 7, all but one of them have been in Queensland, and of those all but one have been at the Gabba. They've had a great fixture run after their shocking opening month.

So yes, they've beaten Port and Richmond, but they did so at the Gabba, where they've barely left for two months.

They're surely no less beatable than the Dogs were last week.

They have to think the same things about our midfield.

i very much doubt they're wondering whether harmes is playing on oliver, petracca, jordon, pickett, anb or...himself?? ?

it should be a ripper of a contest between the midfields

still think gawn and jackson gives us an advantage over them

I'm happy with that call. Really happy to see Sparrow get a game.

Interesting emergencies: Baker, Bedford, Bowey and Mitch Brown.

M Brown getting into the emergencies but B Brown not.

Must be the "B" team

I like how the changes to the team are always minimal. No more than needed.

Building consistency in team selection is a feature of recent successful teams. Get the balance right and let it continue.

Sparrow a sound selection preferable to the lite-soy latte alternative being ‘floated’ by some DL pundits. We prefer our our ‘coffee’ ? and committed. No froth.

Not that I ever wish injuries or anything but when he was originally injured and they announced how long he'd be out for I'm pretty sure it was beyond our match. How come our players never come back sooner?

Um . . . Steven May.

And for the same reason, ie consistency, I suspect jj will play wing and captain Jack the inside mid role jj has been playing in vice captain jack's absence.

Minimises positional movements

Steven May came back earlier than anticipated.

Sparrow obvious choice. Brings the added grunt and physicality required for Brisbane.
I would’ve been miffed if Baker was named.

Good result.

I was sitting at the counter of a cafe when the waiter said to the barista 'Anthony Rocca'.  When I enquired what that was I was advised - weak skinny latte.

Both for our sakes and his own. Brown is a known quantity, Weid apart from 2 games at the end of 2018 has barely fired a shot. Last chance, hope he rips it apart with both hands.

Get some aggression going Weid.

I think Harmes on McCluggage is a good move.

Hopefully he will send the Luggage to Siberia

Really? Thought he had been injured in the twos for some reason.

Baker the sub for me. It would be poor form to be the sub in your debut.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
