Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Good to see that Gawn was rightfully acknowledged for what was an outstanding ruckman's game.  He is now 9th overall.  Oliver comfortably in front by 11 votes (61) to Bont and McCluggage both on 50.  Gawn 43, Salem 15th on 33, Petracca 18th on 32, Lever and McDonald equal 21st on 30.

Coaches Split:

  • 5/4 Oliver and Gawn
  • 3/1 or 2/2 Harmes/Lever
  • 3/0 Petracca
  • 1/0 McDonald

Interesting that Beveridge said he didn't see a 28pt loss as something to worry about.  That he couldn't find a single vote for any of his players in his up till then top of the ladder team, suggests he has quite a bit to worry about.

Only 2 defenders on the leader board:  Lever and Salem.  Our defence is certainly getting a lot of respect from opp coaches.  Of course May deserves to be there but there are only so many votes available.

The two aren't mutually exclusive - Beveridge is so objective he can award no points to his players, but is so confident in his system, his players and ability to adjust, he is unworried. I mean, they've won a GF and are second so it's hardly a disaster.

The 3/0 split on Petracca is interesting.
Was it Beveridge giving him 3 votes because you really notice him, and Goodwin thinking 'meh, just another good game, nothing special' or the other way round?
I think it more likely that Goodwin gave Harmes 3 votes given the way Goodwin, May etc spoke about Harmes post-game. (BTW I don't think it's possible that Harmes/Lever were split 2/2 but my brain is hurting with the maths).

Re Brownlow.
I did a calculation on Brownlow votes if they matched AFLCA between Clarry and Bont.

After Rd11:

Bont is on 13.5 votes with a range 12-14.

Clarry is on 14.5 votes with a range 12-18.

Not sure about other players.

Clarry has possibly 4 BOGs so far. Another 4 in the second half and the Charlie is probably his.

St Kilda could go another 50 years and never assemble a better side then they did in 2009, and still they didn’t win a flag.
Premierships are damn hard to win. You’ve just got to grab them when you have the chance because they won’t lay down for the taking.

Without seeing the other votes I wonder who are our next best.

I would put

Langdon

May

Fritta

Rivers

Im surprised Langdon isnt in the group mentioned. Really flying under the attention of most. A big factor in our ten one ratio.

Would have thought Goody would have given Gus a vote

Yes interesting that role players that excel at their role don’t get coaches votes either! Never expect the outside observers to recognise the role players. Of course in the club B&F voting they usually do get some votes, but interesting the coaches don’t throw the odd one vote to their favourite role player.

Well he got a lot of touches but didn’t do much damage.

But Bradshaw got a lot of love on the night from several commentators for his continual defensive work, breaking up the Doggies efforts to run the ball out of their defence. Played an important role I think.

No. With his complexion he'd just end up looking like a pimple.

Well it was good response by our captain after his poor effort against the Crows. Well deserved.

You mean the lacklustre 20 disposals at 85% efficiency, 10 marks, 5 contested marks, 13 contested possessions, 6 score involvements, goal, and 32 hit outs with 9 to advantage poor effort against the crows?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
